Well done, Bob
The new size suits you fine and you don't look like someone else, being as how we've got used to your previous physique. People that lose a lot of weight sometimes do look very different.
Thanks. I feel a lot better.
Remind me of the carnivorous diet, would you, it's obviously very effective. I do calorie counting and within that try to take my calories as what I regards as healthy stuff, like vegetables and fruit.
I have been trying to lose weight too. It's so slow and laborious. I started in August and lost 5lb in 5 weeks and happily maintained weight on my holiday.
Glad you asked that. Carnivore diet is just what it says, eat what you are made of, animal meat and fat. NO carbs or sugars. No vegetables or plant products at all. No vegetable oils, nor indigestible plant fibers. Eat when hungry. Eat until not hungry. Animal fat includes eggs, cheese, cream, and butter. Don't eat just lean meat. The fat is very healthy and needed. Eat the dark meat chicken, not the "white" breast meat.
Some carnivores get onto fads or sidebars such as only beef, or only grass fed beef, or eat all the offal, or unpasteurized (raw) milk is better, or anything produced by animals is okay even if its just sugar (honey and milk), and even fasting (not eating at all) for several days. None of those are helpful. Feed lot beef has more fat content so its better than grass fed. Honey and milk are sugars, so it supports their sugar addictions. Fasting is starvation and this isn't a starvation diet. I ignore and even argue against these sidebar fads. A good carnivore diet eats a variety of meats, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fish, sausage, etc., whatever is available at the local market, and adds extra animal fat such as butter or cheese.
That's the whole thing. The other part is DON'T count calories. You can starve while eating thousands of calories of lean meat, "rabbit starvation." Don't eat because "its time to eat," or out of boredom or habit. Habit eating is hard to break. Eat only when actually hungry. Keep eating until not hungry. Let your body take care of you.
For many carnivores a good meal lasts a whole day. We don't have that sugar/carb high followed by a crash and hunger in a couple of hours. Once our body gets used to using animal fat as energy its happy using the fat it stored away when we were eating carbs and sugars.
Human evolution took away the adaptations that other primates have for eating plants. We have significantly smaller mouth, teeth, and jaw muscles. We don't spend 8 hours per day chewing our food as wild Chimpanzees do. We have a much smaller gut as % of body weight. We no longer can absorb our own vitamin B-12 that is produced only by lower intestine bacteria. We can only absorb B-12 in our small intestines, so we have to get it from other animals in our food. We have to have significant quantities of Omega-3 fats to support our human brains. Over 2 million years we became dominant hunting species. We haven't lost any of those biological health needs in the few (5,000) years of peasant farming. We thrive on meat, and suffer poor health eating plants. Obesity and all the obesity health problems are plant based problems. It goes away when you stop eating carbs and sugars. The medical industry and plant food industries lie to us all the time for big profits.
Other benefits of a carnivore diet include lower risk of cardiovascular diseases. Type 2 diabetes just goes away, and so does risk of getting type 1 diabetes. The omega-3 component reduces or eliminates clinical depression for many people. Without all the indigestible plant fiber carnivores don't get plugged up with constipation, and don't get colon irritation and colon cancer. Actually a carnivore diet produces so little solid waste that many who follow this way of eating only need to poo every 4 to 7 days. One caution is that it takes a while for our colons to recover from all that indigestible plant fiber crap. The first few weeks or months on a carnivore diet can result in runny poo.
There isn't much research but a lot of anecdotal stories that carnivore people don't get sunburn. That one would help a lot of nudists. I never use toxic chemical sun blockers either.
I've been doing this for about a year and Its been a huge improvement in my health all over. I don't want to preach, but its all so good, even at my age.
