Well done, Bob
The new size suits you fine and you don't look like someone else, being as how we've got used to your previous physique. People that lose a lot of weight sometimes do look very different.

Thanks.  I feel a lot better.

Remind me of the carnivorous diet, would you, it's obviously very effective.  I do calorie counting and within that try to take my calories as what I regards as healthy stuff, like vegetables and fruit.
I have been trying to lose weight too.  It's so slow and laborious.  I started in August and lost 5lb in 5 weeks and happily maintained weight on my holiday.

Glad you asked that.  Carnivore diet is just what it says, eat what you are made of, animal meat and fat.  NO carbs or sugars.  No vegetables or plant products at all.  No vegetable oils, nor indigestible plant fibers.  Eat when hungry.  Eat until not hungry.  Animal fat includes eggs, cheese, cream, and butter.  Don't eat just lean meat.  The fat is very healthy and needed.  Eat the dark meat chicken, not the "white" breast meat.

Some carnivores get onto fads or sidebars such as only beef, or only grass fed beef, or eat all the offal, or unpasteurized (raw) milk is better, or anything produced by animals is okay even if its just sugar (honey and milk), and even fasting (not eating at all) for several days. None of those are helpful.  Feed lot beef has more fat content so its better than grass fed.  Honey and milk are sugars, so it supports their sugar addictions. Fasting is starvation and this isn't a starvation diet. I ignore and even argue against these sidebar fads.  A good carnivore diet eats a variety of meats, beef, pork, chicken, lamb, fish, sausage, etc., whatever is available at the local market, and adds extra animal fat such as butter or cheese.

That's the whole thing. The other part is DON'T count calories. You can starve while eating thousands of calories of lean meat, "rabbit starvation."   Don't eat because "its time to eat," or out of boredom or habit. Habit eating is hard to break. Eat only when actually hungry.  Keep eating until not hungry.  Let your body take care of you.

For many carnivores a good meal lasts a whole day.  We don't have that sugar/carb high followed by a crash and hunger in a couple of hours.  Once our body gets used to using animal fat as energy its happy using the fat it stored away when we were eating carbs and sugars.

Human evolution took away the adaptations that other primates have for eating plants.  We have significantly smaller mouth, teeth, and jaw muscles. We don't spend 8 hours per day chewing our food as wild Chimpanzees do. We have a much smaller gut as % of body weight.  We no longer can absorb our own vitamin B-12 that is produced only by lower intestine bacteria.  We can only absorb B-12 in our small intestines, so we have to get it from other animals in our food.  We have to have significant quantities of Omega-3 fats to support our human brains. Over 2 million years we became dominant hunting species. We haven't lost any of those biological health needs in the few (5,000) years of peasant farming.  We thrive on meat, and suffer poor health eating plants.  Obesity and all the obesity health problems are plant based problems. It goes away when you stop eating carbs and sugars. The medical industry and plant food industries lie to us all the time for big profits.

Other benefits of a carnivore diet include lower risk of cardiovascular diseases.  Type 2 diabetes just goes away, and so does risk of getting type 1 diabetes.  The omega-3 component reduces or eliminates clinical depression for many people.  Without all the indigestible plant fiber carnivores don't get plugged up with constipation, and don't get colon irritation and colon cancer.  Actually a carnivore diet produces so little solid waste that many who follow this way of eating only need to poo every 4 to 7 days. One caution is that it takes a while for our colons to recover from all that indigestible plant fiber crap.  The first few weeks or months on a carnivore diet can result in runny poo.

There isn't much research but a lot of anecdotal stories that carnivore people don't get sunburn.  That one would help a lot of nudists. I never use toxic chemical sun blockers either.

I've been doing this for about a year and Its been a huge improvement in my health all over.  I don't want to preach, but its all so good, even at my age.

This MeWe group has a featured top post with a long list of research and information.

I'm not going to comment about this diet, everyone can make up their own mind, but it does recall a humous moment.

A few years ago I was at Abbey House Gardens for a clothes optional day. Ian Pollard the owner had invited a guy who spoke about such a diet described above. He was aggressively expanding on this diet and all went well until, perhaps being a little over confident he asked if anyone had any questions. A guy very quietly asked if his dietary plan had been subject of "peer review."

It may or may not have been subject of peer review but if they had this guy wasn't aware of it. It literally brought him up short, he rocked on his feet a couple of times, thanked everyone for listening to him and quietly withdrew.

The humour was the over confident approach to really wanting not to be there.

Sorry everyone - some rogue formatting seems to have crept in to my post.  I have corrected it (I think!) so read a couple of posts back if you wish.

Re the diet - that's amazing, Bob.  As a biochemist, I can perceive some of the science behind it.  The Atkins Diet is similar in that it removes carbs leaving protein and fat, I seem to recall.  The biochemistry of that is well established.
The Mewe link didn't work for me as you have to be a member and sign in.  Any other good open references to the Carnivore diet?  It certainly seems to have worked - How did you come across it?

Yes, the basic science has been around for half a century.  It doesn't market big corporation carb and sugar products so its largely ignored.

My youngest son had been a carnivore for a year.  His health had significantly improved.  We talked a lot about it when I was visiting last summer (2019).  It began eating that way last September, and now I'm doing super.   We call it a "Way of Eating" or WOE rather than a "diet."  Its a long term healthy life style rather than something to do for a while to lose weight before gaining it all back.

Maybe you can try the Facebook group World Carnivore Tribe.   Their pinned post has most of the same links.

Is this the same as the Paleo Diet, supposedly based on what Stone Age man ate. The problem with this one is that Stone Age man had a life expectancy of onl6 about 35!

That really isn't true.  Many stone age people lived 60 or 70 years.  Lots of children died, but once they had survived youthful diseases, our ancestors often lived as long as we do.

A little similar but not the same as a "paleo" diet.

I have a friend that has been having the same results from a keto diet, which is the same, but add some veggies.I don't think that just meat is what is getting you your health and that you could have more variety.

The human dental argument has been tested, and it shows that we have been hunter/gatherers, not just hunters.

But like religion, if you think that it works for you, go for it. I am pleased to see your results and congratulate your stubborn perseverance, the restrictions and dedication.

Eating quantity of meat stuffs me up anymore. I risk hemorrhoids, constipation, and things petrifying in my guts. Personally, I'll choose having an extremely easy each morning constitutional like clockwork. I've been getting the same results from the opposite food choices, a raw egg once a day, some fish. I'd eat wild meat in moderation, or a treat, but it is not plentiful.

The stuff that my body isn't continuing to produce with age and by the crappy food providing systems are my concern these days...that and exercising disciplines. :D

I tried the Atkins/keto diet several times since it first was published almost 50 years ago.  It never worked for me.  It always had too much organized counting, and still includes enough carbs that I ended up feeling very hungry when my blood sugar dropped.   Apparently it works for some people.   The Carnivore program is easier.  No counting anything, in fact we recommend not counting calories or ounces, etc.  Eat when hungry.  Eat until not hungry. Yum.

Most people starting a pure carnivore diet complain about the opposite.  They get frequent runny poo. They call it "the carnivore runs."  No undigested plant fibers to cause blockage.  That's a sea change for most people's colons.  Whatever works for you.

after the washout that was august in the uk it was nice to get back to some dry weather...i  pretty much muddled along naked a s normal where possible both at home and when in clients gardens.

the only exception is that i have finally got round to a bit of cycling.  if i turn right out the front gate, past three neighbours  then the tarmac lane turns into a rough stone bridle way for half a mile or so before becoming tarmac to lead dowm to the back of the next village, theres a side track that does a circle though fields and along the edge of the woods   .. generally visibiity is good so you can spot the dog walkers and tractors a fair way away.   ive been riding 4 times now , bit over half an hour each time.  started off using my tan through swim shorts to start and finish past the neighbours and when sighting dog walkers.  but have now settled on the tan though beach wrap...its more comfortable to wear than the shorts and easier to put on and off.    if theres a lot of other traffic it can stay on as the next best thing to total nudity .

ive also made the decision to stop working completely.  we were intending to slowdown and downsize but still keep the workshop and paddock/veg  garden.   but the decisions been made to have a complete change downsize into our ex rental property in the village.  garden is miniscule and overlooked, but planting shrubs  and fruit bushes will give some secluded seating areas and the lack of work will mean next year ill actually have oodles more time to walk, cycle and even go to the beach.  and short spells of gardening in a tan through beach wrap isnt actually too much of a hardship.

if the next 12 months goes anywhere near to plan well be happy.....never know might even be able to get back to fuerteventura for winter sun next winter....dont look like its happening this one.

Sounds good Ric.  Glad you are able to cut back on work.   Have you ever just bicycled past the dog walkers without covering up?   Even a "tan through" beach wrap is a hassle to put on and off every time someone is seen.

Congratulations on taking the plunge into retirement, Ric!  But beware!  So many of us retired old codgers are equally busy in retirement as when we were at work! Difference is most of it is recreation these days - hooray!

Despite that, this month I'm thoroughly depressed and P****d off for a number of reasons, not least that the autumn has now arrived after a lovely bit of late summer weather.  Almost everything I've tried to do in the last couple of weeks has, one way or another gone sour, not worked, been a pain, caused mare ballsaching tedious work etc etc.  Going through a bad patch and venting it on you guys!  Thanks, I feel 2% better for that!

Oh well, onwards to October and more need to be dressed.  Ho hum.

The weather has been warm, but for two days. It continues warm, less hot and more very nice. Thing is there is no rain. It has rained twice since February. La Nina is back after an absence. This typically means that we will continue to have warm/dry weather in the southwest. It has been really tough on the wilds and natural environment and this continued drought will devastate many of the critters.

We did go out into a particularly dry area Sunday afternoon. It is obviously supporting eight good sized deer. There are snoot holes everywhere where animals are buried, or after water.

I've been stuck at home mostly this month and with workers around, I've been often in clothing. I got the new six foot plus wall up around the property, so I now have privacy everywhere. The driveway is open, but I've found that the view from there protects me from sightings from neighbors. The two women next door that have windows along my drive have books and curtains, etc. all along the western side, so they are not apt to see nakedness. There is only one home with mostly unused windows way across the street, so I'm feeling free to roam the driveway area and say goodbye to guest, like DF, nude.

It feels really good. I still haven't gotten rid of my knee jerk reaction walking out the front door to the porch in the evening. Sometime, it will register that there is a complete blockage of view from the street, that I'm free. The soil here allows me to be barefoot all over outside, too.

So, we had a campfire and rituals and prayer in the front yard Saturday night and the next day, got around to carnuding out to the desert and then capped it off with a sweat, carnude home....

The rest of the month has been work, work work. Still have floors, paint walls, ceilings before I can move my furnishing in the main house and sleep in my bed. Then, there is more more more, but most of that is just naked me wandering about the new abode/sanctuary getting settled. I emptied my last storage locker and piled it up in teh garage and studio. seeing "My Stuff" here brought a sense of home, me, myself, instead of someone elses place. I'm feeling more and n more blessed to be here.

I got my exercise machines to work a couple of days ago. I'll be out to get my health back on track. Things are looking up.

I'm enjoying my electric garage door. I get in nude, push a button, back out, pushing the button again, carnude to the next destination, like showing up on DF's doorstep nude. It is seamless and I don't get dressed, if I'm not heading to a store.

Excellent news! But beware Jbee. If you get to comfortable, you may find yourself at the store realizing you forgot to bring anything to wear.  😁😁
