Does Facebook allow nudity with black bars covering the offensive spots? That's like Japanese porn from eh fifties! That's so sick. Is it true?
JBee

Yes.  Facebook requires censorship of "bits."   No female nipples, no cocks, no balls, no cunts, and no assholes allowed.  Pictures on FB have to have heavy blurring or blackout.  Twitter allows nudity in twits, but not in your avatar.

Anything goes but genitals and anus on men. Same for women, plus nipples/aureola on women. So, a couple nude from behind is okay? That leaves space to express nudity in good, wholesome, contexts. A context could be strong enough around a censored person to negate the effect of censor bars. The nudity may be hidden by blur, but the blur can also be hidden from view.

That is more wriggle room than the descriptions of the bans that I have read. 95% of the human body can be presented.

We still have to be careful with Facepuke. Their bots banish you if people complain. I got a 30 day sentence to Facebook Jail for a photo.  I appealed the photo and it was approved because the photo did not violate their rules.  The photo was returned to posted, but I was still in FB jail for the whole 30 days.
Lately FB has claimed that their staff is overwhelmed so they are not reviewing appeals from the bot banishment.

Phone companies are prohibited by law from monitoring, recording, or censoring what we say on our phones.  The same laws ought to apply to other communications services like FB, Twitter, etc.  It's none of their F'ing business, and none of the government's F'ing business what free men and women say to each other.

The censored picture was done for the Canadian Naturists group on Facebook. They're a nice bunch, and it doesn't seem to matter that I'm from "south of the border". They have periodic picture challenges with a theme, and that one was "seasonal activities".

I don't actually object to Facebook's anti-nudity policy. I've always thought that they (and lots of other internet services) have a rule against it because they want to keep pornography off their site. If you remember Tumblr in its old form, you know there's a huge appetite for porn out there, and people don't have much conscience about posting porn and calling it "naturism". Yes, there are constant calls saying "Allow nudity but ban pornography" but once again, people will push the limit of that as far as they can, and there are sure to be constant arguments, maybe some of them ending up in expensive legal fights. Who's going to pay for that? Nobody ever tackles that side of the issue; it feels so much more righteous to say "Censorship is awful and Facebook is a disgrace, yadda yadda yadda".

Bob, your outrage is entirely misplaced. Someone with your social views should immediately understand that you've signed a contract with a private entity, and they're entitled to have rules, and they can penalize you if you break them. It's not a monopoly that you're forced to submit to: there are other social networks eager to have your business, or you can live without that kind of service completely. It's easy enough to be a good Facebook user and go elsewhere if you want to share pictures showing nudity.

By the way, my public profile on Facebook doesn't make any references to naturism, and I don't openly post anything that hints at it. I save it for groups that are rated "private" or "secret", like the Canadians. It never feels like a problem.

Can't argue with that statement in isolation. But look at what Facebook is. Based on its membership claims it is an entity with the largest population in the world, in country terms. More than that its population takes in just about every language and culture on the globe. I don't think you can treat it as you would the local furniture shop when you've signed a purchase contract for a new sofa.

FB and the others claim they are just the "platform" and compare themselves to the postal service, not responsible for what they pick up and deliver on behalf of others, but that hides the wide range of activities they promote and take part in through their software programs.

In the earlier days, the internet functioned as a free speech communication. It made it possible to circumvent the control of the corporate, and wealth controlled media. An alternative source of information, it was and still is supposed to be a soapbox. It was a place where our letters, or any correspondence was private, not to be exploited by outside entities. It was supposed to be a place where our library cards, or browsing histories were our own private links and possessions. All of these have been used for political influence in other times to build cases in retro, to gather evidence, without warrant, to control and intimidate.

I'd like to see the internet, its providers and platforms governed by the same law and considerations as government entities. They make our personal exchanges public and the gov gets it anyway, they keep the info, store the info, sneak in and read my mail and then exploit it. They intimidate my free expression, because it may show up twenty years down the line and affect my activities then. My choice of presentation is negated. That is censorship, too. I have a right to self censorship and a responsibility to be honest.

The phone company and postal service aren't supposed to censor and exploit. These new networks need to be subjected to the same standards. They are as broad as the government entities, they have the same influence, the same power, they compete with government entities and now regulated monopolies, too. The FCC gave them a way to profit at our expense. It is all dangerous.
We have recourse to the government and where we no longer do, we should take back. We don't have recourse to these corporate and private entries. Self restriction to a media isn't an answer, when nearly the whole of the public is participating on these communication vehicles. If we chose to not participate, we our free voice is cut off.

Along the line, entities have learned to exploit information, publishing fake stuff, creating alarm, lying to people, slandering people. I don't know how to fix that except to teach people about reliable resources, science, peer review, and to think for themselves in school and as a human responsibility that they must take on.

It is hard to discern what is what , when these entities channel our information with algorithms and I have a hard time reading right wing opinion, because I'm being channeled by the system into left wing. I have been watching anti Trump comedians and so been channeled into much anti Trump.  For example, just watch how youtube channels if you go from lead to lead as they "enhance your experience."

When I try to talk to my more rightwing friends they are experiencing the same thing from the other end. They have no clue where my opinions come from. Then fake sauce is being peppered into their info. I can't effectively understand other people, people on the other side of the spectrum, if a corporate entity is choosing my friends and where I go and what I read. There is bias and no trust.

Peter S., John P. and Bob, Looks like I agree and disagree with each of you, by my wandering weave of a response.

We have an increasing and already damaging polarization in this country and it is exacerbated by censorship. It is the same with issues of nudity. You get channeled into porn. You get equated with sex by ignorant, or pandering sources of exploitative info. Your point of view is buried in soundbites and sexual exploitation, channeling, censorship, and profit driven motives.

I've just been ignoring mine. I use it to access other Facebook pages like our TFSA page and I'm on the board. I get notification for social events, but my page is just people wishing me a happy birthday, or posting things like pictures that turn up on my page, but I haven't posted them, or share my life on that system other than their unauthorized intrusions.

Guys, we're not big on old fashioned traditions here and very refreshing that is.  But I just wanted to wish everyone the compliments of the season and - as many, many people have been doing at this time - wishing for a better 2021 in the hope that we will beat down the awful plague and return to better times.

The general news is down far enough that everything will probably be up.

Maybe there will be a point next year when the bar can be raised a bit more than that....

My December has been too cold for me to be outside naked.   Here is a picture I took behind our house

So I've been getting a little naked time inside, but I get cold when sitting by a screen or reading.

Happy Yule or Holiday to all you naked freaks.

Tonight was unusually clear and frosty (30F).  About 11.30pm I went out into the garden to commune with a cloudless sky with the stars shining as tiny pinpricks in the clear, clear air.  The full moon cast a sharp shadow on the white, frosted grass.  I walked around the garden with my head up to the darkness recognising the familiar constellations.  The air was so still but as I moved I felt its crisp iciness on my skin but I was not cold or shivering.  A night of dry cold is the most comfortable way to be naked in the freezing winter and the most sensual and exciting.  My feet stung now from the icy grass and frosted paving stones.  The garden furniture stood out grey white, covered in frosted dew, in the moonshine.  I walked some more, the pain in my feet becoming uncomfortable now.  I didn't want to interrupt this rapturous moment, which, whilst now enumerated amongst many, was nevertheless a rare treat.  But a minute or too more and it was time to end before it became mundanely uncomfortable.  Probably only 5 minutes but preciously naked in freezing nature.  The highlight of my month for FRN, I think.  Tonight for new year I plan to have a little naked pagan ceremony at midnight to welcome in the lengthening days and the uphill journey to spring and summer as the ancients did  (and get a pic or two to share if I can and the weather is ok).

We got another 10 inches of snow yesterday.  The snow plow guy promised to come out this morning to plow out our driveway.   Not a good naked day outside.

Happy Nude Year to everyone.

Blessed be , Bob.

Not always frost around here, just because it has been so dry and freeze is unusual, still, I keep a pair of flipflops at the door, because I feel so much less cold longer, if I slip them on. I barefoot in the sunshine during the day.

Michigan, sometime last century, I'm 12 or 13 years old. The folks are out for the evening. The snow plow has cleared the road. The asphalt driveway is black as it has been melting during the day, after I shoveled it off.

I'm stretching the bounds of my freedom, while I'm alone and free. There is an excitement to it. I step out into the garage and push the button, as the garage door rises about half way. I walk completely naked across the empty space of the garage. The other car is taking half of the shelter. My bike, with its banana seat and butterfly handlebars, is tucked away on the other side of it against the wall.

I peek out under the partially raised door. The streetlights are reflecting off of the snow. It is brightly lit out there all the way down the street, everywhere. I take note, all the lights on all of the houses are out. It is quiet as I sneak out and stand next to a shrubbery to observe.

From snow, it has been days without riding my bike. I have never ridden it naked. I pull it out and mount the seat. DAng! It's cold, but my warm body soon melts that away. I ride circles out the black patch and back and again. It feels good. I wish that I could go further, but the roads are still covered with slush and snow.

I still remember how good that that felt.

So, this month of December, we spent a few days at the hot springs, which was wonderful, talented people playing wonderful music, while we danced amongst a group of naked young women who were letting loose in joy. Others listened from the hot spring pool, all of us in the warm sun. Perfect. We were treated to a sweat, Native American guidelines, with a less traditional woo woo flair.

We had holidays and warm and cold days. One day was spent doing recon of an area of Saguaro National Monument, with a nude walk, or two. (Report later)

Then, December 31st, was barely 70F and partly cloudy. We explored some unfamiliar trail area in the Tucson Mountains. I found a nice big rock that may be my new Havarock, without the Javalinas. It is a 15 to 20 minute drive from my house and then, less than an hour's walk out to it. I've found this hike and another in the distance which has cool geology. We found a mountain trail marked only by cairns to climb a tall peak naked... before the rattlers come back out.

New Year's Eve, it was varying cool, or cold. DF was eagerly topfree for all of maybe 20 minutes, then a cloud and a breeze floated by. I wore a sweatshirt, but soon tucked the kilt under my shoulder strap. A breeze would sometimes chill, or the sun would drop behind a cloud. It will be wonderful completely nude, but for shoes, on another day. The area will be okay only on weekdays.
