NIB! Great! Congrats, AND in the face of adversity!!! HAzah! In some diversity, I assume. Otherwise we still have Milfmog's daily excursions with the Free Range mascots in the woods. I stay naked, but getting out and about 100 straight! As they say in Texas, Wayhoah!

It was a natural pool  on offshoot of the River Trent.

Cold water shock is when the body  enters the water too quickly and the person can't breath properly due to the cold. In thus case therew was hyperthermia too as the core body temperature dropped.

Fortunately all was well at the end of the day

I can’t see how you can get cold water shock AND hypothermia, unless the person got through the cold water shock (which is instant loss of breathing control when entering the water) and then carried on, staying in too long. It takes at least half an hour for an adult lose sufficient core temperature to get hypothermia, so not possible from a quick dip.

I’ve not been here for some time but, with the demise of Naturist Corner, which had seen declining activity for some time, prompted to catch up.

‘Free range’ has been a bit limited this summer simply due to more time spent in the garden, naked of course, the need to remove the remains of my greenhouse flattened nearly a year ago in Storm Arwen and to build a new one. I know, it shouldn’t take that long, but several days clearing up all the glass after the event - and I still keep finding bits (lots of tiny splinters) - removing the old foundations in the spring, more recently digging newer, bigger ones in a different position and now setting it up, sorting rain-water collection and sowing autumn seeds. It’s now a great draw to get me out in the garden, even when it’s raining - which has been surprisingly uncommon for here.

In the long gap in the middle of the summer while I was waiting for the new greehouse to be delivered, I managed another BN trip to Loch Ossian in the highlands of Scotland for three days walking, several walks in the local hills and a BN weekend to Windermere which included a very busy walk to High Dam, a local honeypot reservoir. It was a good day and lots of clothed public there who largely ignored us, except one family who weren’t very happy, so we moved round to the other side of reservoir for a dip.

In the last month, I have only managed one or two walks and an early morning run - but I now have lots of salad crops growing ……

Brought this month in on the road in some New Mexico mountains and then drove nude cross country to Georgia, then back through the south. Did some stealthy stuff when the opportunity was given. Oaklake Trails resort in Oklahoma was filled with fun during Labor Day weekend. There was down time during family get together then drove off naked to Atlanta, a rustic retreat in Alabama hills, a gulf coast island beach. new Orleans was a day of clothing from the parking lot and back, but the next day got us with Safebare, sailing, hanging out at home. We took his canoe out to an island in a lake for a nude day. Did Hippie Hollow in Austin. Did after-dark star gazing and lake lights nude amongst our textile accommodations. Spent nearly a week touring/camping hiking the Big Bend/Rio Grande area. Got back October 1st. 5200 plus miles logged naked without a negative incident.

Wrapped on my kilt most public stops. Only problem with that was a dimwitted hayseed in Oklahoma talking about a girl standing up to pee in the public toilet, to the guy at the urinal next to him. He looked shocked and stunned and fearful when I looked down at him wearing a beard and acting like I could give a sh_t what he thought of anything, as I left.

Then in Jefferson Davis County, Texas a narrow minded putz was talking something about hippies in skirts at a checkout counter. ;D

Hi Martin,
Well, well, Naturist Corner closed down!  I am (was) a member but visited only rarely and posted even more rarely although I regret its passing because there were several erstwhile friends on there from The Secret Naturist Society days or that were here briefly but have passed out of our purview here, that I could keep in touch with.  I still harbour some hope that some of them may return here and join in our conversation again.  If you are lurking, JOhnGW, Milfmog or any of the other TSNS regulars then let's hear from you!

I think Naturist Corner was too complicated and uncoordinated.  The quality of conversation was poor and so varied that it was difficult to dive in and actually communicate or draw out anything much of any value.  But that's just one person's view.

Have you joined 'The Barely Clubhouse', Martin?  It looks too daunting to jump through all the administrational and identity hoops they have constructed around that one.  Do you reckon it will take off?  Their menu is both confusing and perhaps rather too ambitious, I feel, and looks not unlike a traditional forum, which is the very thing they claim to be getting away from!  Was Naturist Corner too polluted with pervy members, false identities and entries leading to unsafe sites?  We don't seem to get them here.

John

But good luck to them and maybe it'll be worth joining and maybe a review or two will leak into this forum

First, staying on topic I had a lovely walk a couple of days ago. It became rather chilly with a cutting breeze so unfortunately I had to cover up. I had a bonus to the walk by picking some lovely field mushrooms. This was my first and I hope not the last October walk. It was a little under eight miles.

Second - Naturist Corner. I joined during its first year. Tony Vickers created the site. It was rough and ready but fun. It did go through a well intentioned phase of having an erotic picture session which as can be imagined became a place for soft porn. I thought it spoilt the site and campaigned to have it removed which after a while it was. As predicted the site lost members but gained more after a while. Tony handed the running of the site to John Simpson who without doubt has good IT skills and the site became very professional in layout etc. However I don't believe he is a people person. More and more rules appeared and I heard several alleged stories of him being rude to people who either disagreed with him or made a minor transgression. As a result the site became bland and posts seemed to comprise of "what have you done naked today" and "are you naked now?" Fewer and fewer posts were made and the Bareleychubhouse was proposed. Naturist Corner shut down abruptly with no thanks for previous support or a goodbye.

As for the new site personally I have no intention of subjecting myself to an on-line interview by John Simpson or anyone else from the site. I suspect it may become a site for a select few who all agree with each other.

The closure is a shame  but inevitable. .....   and I agree it would be good to hear from some of those other mebers, Milfmog et al.

Thanks for that background, Davie,
I suspected the bureaucratic and off-putting entry qualifications to be the work of one or two people.  You have filled in the backstory!
I can, however, understand their need for a secure and unpolluted site where the best of naturist interaction goes on.  But the world is a messy place.  Trying to shut it out is likely to be a fool's errand!

Whaoh! another month ended!

After being on the road for a month, DF and I haven't been out hiking. We did do four days at the hot springs, which was wonderful. We're really enjoying the company of our regular group there, getting to know them better. There is a spiritual component that we all share. DF taught a couple of Chi Gong classes, we did a Hindu breathing and sound group and it all brought a cohesiveness to our connections. We discovered a connection with two others from Phoenix from  another spiritual interest. It s certainly added to just being naked in hot springs paradise. It isn't a place to be nude, but to be free and spiritual. The naked part (all the time, weather permitting) is incidental, an option everyone is comfortable with, as it ought to be.

The weather has finally cooled down, so we changed the hours on the sweat to daytime. There has been construction going on with that.

So, that has been it, other than remaining naked nearly all the time anyway, in the gorgeous weather.

We went to a costume party with a Beatles theme (Hostess turned "64"), but decided against going as "Two Virgins" as it was cold and felt like a cheap way to get out of a costume theme. It was mostly a bunch of oldish looking hippies in the end. Beatles are fun, but what are the odds that a friend of mine and I were at the same concert in Paris, March 10th, 1965?!

November will be busy getting this house put together and DF left this morning to Georgia for two weeks, to help out with her mom's care. So, we may not have a very freeranging month, but for a short hike, or two in November. We'll see. It will be warm next week.

No FRN for us in October. We had a holiday in France, a few days in the Alps near Lake Geneva and a week in Nice. The weather was good but little opportunity to strip off. The only time we could have was at Thonon-les-Bains, which has a short stretch of nudist beach on the lake, but we were short of time and the day we walked by it was nearly all in shade and rather cool. A few people were heading down there to be ready for the afternoon sun.

Near Nice there were a very few women topless discreetly on the quieter beaches, but no opportunities for nudity. We did a good walk up in the hills, using the Train des Pignes" scenic railway to get there. With more time in that area to find the less-frequented spots I think there would be a chance to get naked. The weather was perfect in mid-October, even at 3000-4000 ft altitude. Perhaps JMF could advise on that area?

October quiet and pretty textile for me.  I've had loads of meetings and whatnot meaning that I have to be out of the house and dressed for a variety of occasions.  I try and get out in the garden for a brief 'Air bath' when I get up and go to make breakfast.  It was the first morning today when I genuinely felt the crisp cold air of autumn, which has arrived late this year - we had the warmest October on record in the UK.
Unusually I am dressed whilst typing this post - I usually try and be naked when I log in here, but it's been a busy day.

I noticed as we sorted the laundry this week, how many pairs of socks and shorts (underpants) were in there.  I've been shockingly obliged to be dressed an awful lot this month and the weather is now closing in after a very warm autumn so far in the UK (I'm even wearing the remnants of today's attire as I type - unusual)!  I did go out naked on a chilly morning a couple of days ago to pick up apples off my tree in the garden The leaves are still there but falling fast, and soon that tree will no longer conceal me from the gaze of next door's bedroom.
Still I do naked chores in the house a lot more than I used to thanks to the unconscious but incremental tolerance to my naturism by the wife.  But I'm feeling textile repression as usual as we slide into winter.

Our weather this month is very cold.  It's like minus 8 C or 15 F these mornings.   That's way too cold (freezing) for me outside, and even heat for our home gets prohibitively expensive to keep it warm enough for sitting around with a screen.

Weather is so hard when you are trying to be natural.... ;D

This house isn't the strawbale R-60 plus that I'm used to. I'm making changes to it, but for now, I'm finding my heat bill rising and I'm often wearing a robe or a sweatshirt indoors. The porch/sunroom/greenhouse will be a good change, but the cement floor will be chilly enough for flip flops.

Still, when the sun is out(nearly always) and the wind settles down, it is very nice out there. The sauna is a wonderful mitigation. We'll see how the list of outings compiles this month, but construction eats free time. Two more weeks of November.

What is it about wives?!!

Mine is Irish Catholic and for years, even showing an ankle was risqué! (Ok I exaggerate a bit).

In our old house where the garden was predominantly private, there was a constant commentary of ‘cover up’ and ‘be careful’ whereas my attitude was far more relaxed.

Over the years, she has relaxed a little and is now ok at a nude beach, me naked her clothed. But it’s still awkward and I look at nude couples on the beach being SO relaxed about their nudity, perhaps taking pictures of each other or having dialogue with others who are naked. When I have a naked chat with others on the sand, you can almost see the thought bubble from her head that thinks some sort or orgy is about to happen.

We were born naked. Victorian men sea bathed naked. Across Europe people get naked without a thought. It’s 2022 for goodness sake! I don’t think I’ll ever understand (but it’s sort of reassuring to find I’m not alone)!
