Anyone who drinks water deserves whatever happens to them.

You put a worm in water and it lives. You put a worm in whiskey and it dies. You drink enough whiskey, you ain’t never gonna git worms.

And if you drink mescal, it comes with a dead worm in it just to prove it works!

French nudists protest Burka Muslims at swimming pools.

Quote
Hundreds of French nudists are threatening to "bare all" against burkini-clad bathers in an unlikely showdown at public baths in Grenoble as an ongoing row over the body-covering garment has resurfaced in the heatwave.

The city in southeastern France - which is sweltering in temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius - obliges women to wear one-piece swimming costumes close to the body in swimming pools while men must wear Speedo-style trunks rather than shorts, for hygiene and security reasons.

I think that women have the right to wear silly, stinking, outfits, that insult humanity. Everyone should have the right to wear what they want, including what they don't wear. It's kinda like Christians, Jews and Atheist. The government needs to be secular. The people need to be diverse.

The effect is in the majority, the peer pressure and how that affects the women. After all, when bras were burned, slowly, they made their way back. It is difficult to be the only one nude for most people. What direction will the herd take?

It is weird for me to defend tolerance for a group that is so intolerant of diversity.

I recently heard that there had been a lot  of hoopla in the UK, when Religious zealots were standing out in front of public nude swims harassing patrons and taking pics of them and then posting the pics on the internet. Calling them pedophiles? What's with all of that? Has my memory taken a dive?

There was a thing in Canada about an established swim. There was a thing back east at a nude beach....

I think you’re recalling the fuss back in March, JBee, when a group of self-appointed paedophile hunters barracked an organised, regular, club-based nude swim, advertised as family-friendly with children in attendance. The paedophile hunters called themselves the Templar Knights and with a name like that may have had some religious affiliations. After a bit of mostly local publicity and the police standing by just in case, it seems to have fizzled out quite quickly. Still quite worrying for those on the receiving end while it was going on.

It pretty much imitated (though less dramatically) the similar fuss in Canada last year, though I think that also died a pretty rapid death. I seem to recall a leading protester in Canada was charged with something or other after swimmers had their cars damaged (?) Both “protests” seem to have been based on the “what about the children” principle, but failed to drum up any real public reaction.

JB, I'm here to provide diversity. Or is that adversity? I get them mixed up.

Found this on Facebook.   Naked guy in downtown Spokane, WA, USA, late at night.  The Facebook discussion is about an upcoming election for Mayor in which homeless people and drug use down town has become a major issue.

Giving the FB link a try on this forum.

I see that a guy can walk around downtown naked late at night and feel safe. Dang what's with the communist comments? John Birch still alive after all of these years!

He got arrested a couple of hours later.  He was already on probation as a "sex offender."

I had a friend in Michigan, an old high school buddy, who was put on probation for taking a leak behind a Circle K convenience mart. That was his story. The a few years later he did some time for exposing himself while driving past a school bus filled with girls. I always thought that his compulsion could have been different with an outlet. He was a product of a repressive society, if he could be in a more nudist environment he would not have the associations that gave what he did in its context. He associated the nude body with sex, excitement, arousal, naughty and special, with an emphasis on genitalia. The society gave him that.

I never got to talk to him about it all. Haven't been up there in many years. So, certainty eludes me. There is most likely more to it, but basically.... He had a rebellious nature, he didn't get much female attention in High school, dunno what he was feeling, he could have found other ways to deal with what was deep seated, but basically, in a different orientation out of common social context....

The guy in the photo has several arrests for behavior that really only amounts to being rude in a sexual way.  He "exposed himself" to women.  Oh the horror.  The haters have him labeled "sex offender" and locked in prison much of the time.  My thinking is that his behavior and that of your former Michigan friend is basically driven by hormos and biology, frustrated sexual feelings. The culture has no more need to punish "indecent" behavior than gay or lesbian behavior.  Its emotional and not harmful to others.  At worst its rude.

Repressed sexual needs sometimes push people into doing rape or worse actual harmful crimes.  Much of that would go away if commercial sex was not so heavily outlawed.  When they block people's powerful biological desires it doesn't go away, it just comes out in another way. Outlawing prostitution or nudity does not make people's desires go away. It just creates worse problems.

Agreed.

There is a reasonable argument about people having self control of their behaviors. Then again, frustration will come out in another manner, or over-suppression will make people sick. The trick is to provide a release valve, or a safe/less disruptive redirection. Victoria, law and order just don't understand people.

The newer DSM no longer diagnoses exhibitionism and voyeurism as disorders. Other compulsive behaviors perhaps.

I believe that men who say exhibitionism is harmless need to hear about it from a woman. As with a fair number of male behaviors, actually.

JBG, that statement about how "DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) no longer diagnoses exhibitionism and voyeurism as disorders" seemed unlikely to me, so I looked it up. I think you may have this wrong:
https://www.theravive.com/therapedia/exhibitionistic-disorder-dsm--5-302.4-(f-65.3)

They mention "Transvestic Disorder" too. Do any of us need to worry?

I also disagree. At least 99% of people have no problem with controlling their presumably repressed sexual urges. I gather there is an idea among some people that those who have little or no self-control should have an outlet for their sexual urges. Perhaps they should have an outlet for other repressed urges, too, urges which again most people somehow manage to keep under control. There are those, you may know, who have sexual desires for the very young. What about them? Fully paid trips to Thailand? Or would allowing such things to happen really harm no one? Is it an attempt too redefine 'indecent' out of existence?

John P., I've been out of the business for a few years now. I'm relying on my Ph.D. candidate friend who corrected me. Your link didn't produce anything, no website?

I'm curious to look at the new ones, but not enough to spend the money. I never liked them anyway.
