Photo Topic. Tunnels and Bridges
« on: August 03, 2015, 04:51:45 PM »
This forum doesn't have a topic area for photo topics so I'll start one on the General space.

This is for photos of naked rambling to bridges and tunnels. Some of my photos have been previously shared on a forum no longer active.   Have fun sharing your photos.

Tony Nudey915 had a fantastic pic of a trail with a railway tunnel.
You with us, Tony?

Yes John, I am still here. I took those photos some years ago, I will try to dig them out. Then I will have to set up a Flickr account so I can post them here. I haven't been to those tunnels for a while now. Now you have reminded me, I will have to go there again, it is a good place to get naked, but not at weekends. Far too many people and cyclists go there now.

You're still young, Larry! Wish I was only 63, I'll be 70 next year. I can still remember that!

I have found the photos I think John was referring to, so I will try posting one here. If it works (thanks Ian) I will post a few more including the tunnel. This is a view of a bridge over an abandoned railway in the English Midlands. The track I am sitting beside has been converted into a footpath and cycle track. This was taken a few years ago but still looks much the same today.

A couple of canal bridges:

Langeais Bridge on the river Loire in France -

The M50 Bridge over the River Severn

A bridge over the Regents Canal by London Zoo

That's all I could find at the moment.

Great shots JOhn and Tony.

I remember a rail tunnel you went to Tony that was a amazing sample of the old brick arch tunnel construction.

In the last photo, JOhn,  there appears to be a person walking away to the right.
Was there a response, or do you remember?

I had no responses whatsoever on that boat trip.

Interesting.   In the last few years I've noticed that the general public is more accepting of naked people and less likely to make any overt response.   Little by little as we get seen naked we make naked into common.  And we are becoming more and more.

For Duane and John and everyone else, here are my tunnel photos. The first one shows the entrance. It only carried a single railway track and so was fairly narrow. The pale spot in the centre is the daylight at the end of the tunnel.

The second is standing inside under a ventilation shaft. Looking up it, you can see daylight about 50 feet up, although not clearly as there is a chimney on top. The bright flashes on the walls are reflectors which show up in the light of a torch or cycle lamp. It is very dark inside and without a point of reference, it is very easy to walk or cycle into the side of the tunnel, especially when cycling. You cannot see enough to keep your balance without a light.

I think I may have some more photos taken around here, I will try to find them.

That's the one I was thinking of. Beautiful workmanship.

What area is in? Is it remote or in a more developed area? I would think that it would be on some historic preservation list.

I remember in Jr. High School when we were riding our bicycles around on a lazy summer day we decided to occupy ourselves by crossing town riding through the city's storm drain system. Being a storm drain and not a utility tunnel, there was no lighting. I had a similar experience.

I ran into the side of the tunnel while riding through a particularly dark section. Humans have little to no proximity sense in the dark. I ended up with a scraped right arm.
