That's two of us that chose to be bald then.

You did post it before here:-

No less impressive though.

As requested by Duane.

As I wrote above, on the Secret Naturist Society forum there was a category called "enforced SN" where you didn't have immediate access to clothes with various ways of achieving that, the simplest being just walking away from your clothes. That was the only method I had used, so in my more adventurous days I looked for another way that didn't involve keys and timed locks etc. I knew that I could leave home early in the morning with a good chance of not being seen, but getting back in broad daylight would be virtually impossible. I would have to wait for darkness to fall to have any chance of getting home unseen. Once thought of I had to try it!

I chose a day that was forecast to be very warm by English standards ie high 70Fs because I didn't want to feel cold while waiting for darkness. My destination on leaving home was a place I used regularly for naked sunbathing and wandering around about a mile away. I had left everything I thought I would need for the day there the previous evening.

I set out at about 5am with foot wear (because of already sore feet) and nothing else. The most dangerous part for being seen was leaving home, crossing the road and getting through a gap in a hedge, but much safer beyond that to the top of a hill and onward. It was clear and just beginning to get light. I arrived at the chosen spot without seeing anybody. To my dismay the once clear sky had now filled with low cloud meaning that I couldn't use the rising sun to keep warm. I began to feel cold. Had I chosen the wrong day?

Fortunately it wasn't long before the sky cleared and I began to feel warm again in the low sun. In fact within a few hours I began to feel too warm lying down in the sun. I was committed to being naked all day until darkness fell and I could get home - a commitment I was very willing to embrace!

In the years I had used the place it was almost inevitable that it did not remain entirely secret and during the day two other men who had discovered my naked haven arrived and used it as such. One thought I was mad for even trying such an exploit!

I did wander around during the day but didn't go far because I couldn't get out of my head that if the worst happened and I was asked to get dressed I would have nothing to put on!

Eventually they left, the sun dipped and the warmth began to lessen. This was the worst part of the day for me as I waited for darkness to arrive and felt nervous about the upcoming walk home. The wind rising and not feeling particularly warm didn't help.

At about 9.30pm I felt it was dark enough for the walk home (it was August). I hadn't even thought about taking a torch (flashlight), but the lights of the nearby town were enough for me to see my way. I don't think there was any moon as it had clouded over. Now moving, the wind didn't make me feel cold any more, it was exhilarating. I got to the most dangerous part, the gap in the hedge, stopped, listened, peeked, dashed across the road, through a side gate, past a neighbour's window and I was home!

I'd done it! I had to stop myself from celebrating by walking the streets naked in that delicious wind, contenting myself with standing at my door at the risk of being seen by my neighbours. It turned out to be one of the warmest nights on record so I'd definitely chosen the right day for the waiting for dark and the walk home.

Sounds like a good day in nature, Dave.

I hardly ever carry clothes or cover when out on my own land, close to 1/2 mile away from home.  I expect that some neighbors will occasionally see me because my route walking my boundaries takes me within sight of a couple of neighbors and within sight of passing vehicles on each end of the property.

However, when I have to drive somewhere for a naked walk with a day pack, I usually carry or wear covering, though not always.  Often I may have a pair of shorts in my backpack, but I don't wear to or from my car.  Sometimes the route back to my car goes past other houses and ends in a public parking lot.  For example last summer while Geocacheing I came back  to the parking at a nature preserve naked despite observing a group of people enjoying the afternoon on their deck down the road a little way.  My walk back to my care crossed a wide and open field in plain sight of the deck party, but I ignored them.  If I was seen, it wasn't up close and personal.  It didn't bother me. I had some shorts but they were just extra baggage.

I'm wondering from your story, what would it cost if you came home in daylight?   There is a chance that some neighbor might see you, but so what?   Have you thought about just going to or coming back from the wild land naked in daylight?

No, I haven't Bob. The last thing I want to do is upset/offend my neighbours, I have to live next to them! I also don't want to risk getting arrested again. Once was enough.

Oh Dave, You've done it again...

...you know that there are folks here who are not aware of your arrest story, so now you are going to have to share that again :D

Have fun,

Ian.

Well, now that you've opened that can of worms..... let's hear it.
I'm a newbie here & haven't read about that "adventure", but would like to, maybe, learn from the story.

I'd really rather just forget about it, but here's a quick summary:-

I was seen walking across part of a golf course even though I was convinced there was nobody in sight. This eventually resulted in my being followed home by another cyclist who was obviously in contact with police at the golf clubhouse who waylaid me as I cycled past.

I was arrested and spent 6 hours in custody partly waiting for a solicitor to arrive who advised me to say "no comment" to every question.

After a few weeks the charges were dropped. Not an experience I would want to go through again. (The solicitor actually said to me "At least this is a new experience for you"!)

I'm sure that was a traumatic experience.   However the police don't like wasting their time arresting people who are going to have charges dropped.  Were the charges dropped because being naked without intent to offend anyone isn't illegal in your area?   If so then you and your solicitor perhaps taught the police not to come out next time you or someone else is wandering about naked.  That would effectively give you permission to go naked again.   But if the charges were dropped because it was illegal but not worth their effort (not a big enough fine to make a profit) then you do have to be more cautious.

I'm sure that is the fear of most of us here. Not so much being caught so to speak but having to deal with the legal system only to have charges dropped. Part of the problem is that the one who complains finds out they have to appear in court and don't wish to become involved or on questioning didn't see what they thought they saw. And as Bob mentioned, not enough for them to be worried about or profit in the coffers. However, now the stigma is there and I'm sure lives have been ruined for less.

I think the main charge was "outraging public decency". There was no reason given, just that they wouldn't be going ahead with it, probably because there was no evidence from the witness that I was intending to offend. Technically it isn't illegal to walk naked in England, but if they really want to they can charge you with something. I don't think they use "outraging public decency" any more. It's all too complicated for me.

I would imagine that the golf club would think twice about going through the same trouble if a naked person is seen, after getting no result in my case. I still walk naked in the same area, just not on the golf course.

Glad to hear that it ended well for you. I can understand not wanting to go thru that again, though.

I wonder if that meant that it wasn't a new experience for the solicitor? As in, it was not an uncommon event.

As requested by Duane.

Great story, balead. I'm certain I would have been worried about the unexpected visitors, but apparently there would have been no need to be concerned.

I think he just meant me being arrested and locked up.

Perhaps I should have written "during the day two other men who had previously discovered my naked haven arrived and used it as such". I already knew them and it was no surprise that they arrived as it was a very nice day.
