However, I agree that a sixteen-year old girl looses all her attractiveness when she is nude.

That's just silly.   Probably common nudist dogma though.
I agree. I find the honesty and openness of nudity attractive and beautiful. But it also engenders warmth, compassion and respect. That pre-supposes that we are talking about simple, unself-conscious nudity and that it isn’t being used knowingly in a provocative (non-naturist) manner

Perhaps Bluetrain was meaning that when nude they appear less sexually provocative, because clothing can certainly do that.

One thing I find very non sexual/anti-sexual is beaches and sunbathing.  I'm heterosexual so tend to find more personal arousal* from women than men in the sexual department.  But for some reason a woman in a bikini or naked on the beach or sunbathing just doesn't turn me on.  I find those circumstances singularly unattractive for some reason, which I am perplexed not to have been able to fathom out why in myself.   An attractive woman in a bikini or whatnot can easily get my attention in other circumstances.

I agree with Martin M that unabashed, unselfconscious and unprovocative nudity (i.e. naturism) has very positive connotations - to paraphrase - of honesty and openness engendering warmth, compassion and respect.  Those aspects may be evident in sunbathers, but for me, not sexual attraction.
I think it may be due to sunbathing being a broadly inwardly focused activity, if you think about it.  The sunbather is completely taken up with their sun soaking being slathered with sunscreen and forced to remain prone or supine for long periods and not really interacting with anyone or anything.  A sunbather whether eyes closed or reading a book or even chatting with a companion, has a sort of detachment that is uninvolved and unconnected with their surroundings and I wonder of some sunbathers find it a meditative thing?  Otherwise why would you want to remain totally static getting burning hot all over whilst a day with good weather remains undiscovered all around you?
Or is this just me?

"...to paraphrase - of honesty and openness engendering warmth, compassion and respect.  Those aspects may be evident in sunbathers, but for me, not sexual attraction.''

Warmth, compassion and respect begin a good relationship and a more relaxed atmosphere. It is attractive. Often, one thing leads to another and this is the catalysts. Sexual attraction doesn't just mean a visual physical attraction, but feelings, meeting of souls, just liking someone, or excitement. I would suppose that these can be the main attraction.

Up, laying about can certainly be a form of meditation, of relaxation, sun feels good, and tans look good. Just being there relaxed can be very welcome and sometimes necessary to getting an even base coat after a Winter. It is pleasant just to sit and watch the world go by, the sun traveling, the waves hitting, or others activities. I have fallen asleep on beaches. People leave me alone on beaches and I often like that. Beaches can be like kids in parallel play.

I'll enjoy a good day laying around in it. It is a good time to enjoy what is inside as well as outside a body.

Have you read about the lifecycle of the cicada, Jbee?
Strange thing indeed.

Yup, every so many years, they get very very loud and obnoxious. This may be one of those years. The monsoon may increase the numbers.

It’s when the different lifecycles begin to come to term at the same time that it get really loud. Some of them can reach above 100 decibels. For hours.

On a related note, although cicadas and locusts are not related, some people get them mixed up. Locusts do not make ALL that NOISE. Locusts do more physical damage than cicadas.

I used to be able to walk in the woods next to my house on occasion properly attired but now, with the advent of game cameras, I no longer have that luxury. Last year I even found one right at the back of my yard on the trail where I enter the woods.
Now I’m only properly attired around the house. My normal routine in the morning is to ready my lunch cooler and take it and my backpack to the truck as soon as I get up. I take the time while outside to “water” the grass then go inside, shower and get ready for work. It is still dark when I leave for work so my neighbors are still asleep when I am outside nude at this time.

Wednesday, as I put my stuff in the truck, I noticed I had a flat tire. Normally this would be a bad thing. Instead it was an opportunity to air up the tire, find the screw that caused the leak, and plug the hole - No aggravation, no sweaty clothes to change - Just a chore made enjoyable by being nude. I still made it to work on time.

I spent the whole day Saturday inside my shop trying to make it more a shop than a storage building. I was nude all day. It is noteworthy that my wife, rather than trying to persuade me to put clothes on, acted as though she enjoyed my being nude. She even came into the shop to wash clothes in the extra washer there with nothing on but an unbuttoned shirt and panties. To walk out of the house not completely dressed, even for the 12 feet to the shop in our back yard, was extremely bold for her.

Naturism is much more enjoyable when the love of your life knows about it and at least does not disapprove.

Glad to hear how things are moving along for you two. Been a while sense the last report.

Last time we bumped into a remote camera, we mooned it.

I live in the suburbs outside Washington, D.C. (about 12 miles from the back door of the White House) and believe it or not, hunting is allowed in the woods where I walk (bow & arrow). Of course, normal rules apply; daytime in season and not on Sunday. Year before last I discovered two game cameras where I wandered and thereafter avoided those places until they were removed. They weren't there last year and I have no idea who put them there before. The funny thing is, this is a case of public surveillance not by the government but by a private individual.

Off hand, it sounds like free game cameras. It is, to me, an equivalent of flying drones. It is surveillance, with collateral damage. If I find one taking unwanted photos without permission of me, I'd expect those movies to be removed. If it isn't just spying on animals, it's spying on everyone included, I don't know to who, what, or where those images will go. There seems to be a right to confiscate the possession of photos that weren't approved by me, of me and my private activities.

No one should have any expectation of privacy in a public place, however secluded the place might be. Now you know how celebrities feel, or at least as close as you're ever going to get. I have seen people walking down the sidewalk talking on their cellphones and act as though you were eavesdropping just by standing there minding your own business in your front yard. All the same, I understand how you feel. Some people hate having their photo taken because it will capture your spirit. But those are probably not the same people who publish nude photos of themselves on the internet.

Hello, Hymie!  Lovely to hear from you.
How true.  I remember many mentions by you of how your wife hovers (hovered?) at the gateway of naturism whilst not disapproving of your naturism.  I recall reports of how she joined you in the garden occasionally either naked or topless (can't quite recall if one or both!) and was there an occasion where she took a local nude walk with you very early in the morning whilst you were eating your oatmeal?  Or is that my imagination?
Anyway, glad to hear you are still going strong.  Have you experienced any jobs in recent years where you can walk naked at the end of the day?  If so where are the reports?! :)  ou used to write great walk reports.  I also recall a couple of years when you walked a nature reserve close to your work site regularly and there was that job where you walked round a beautifully overgrown trail ...was it around a water treatment facility?

Interesting that they put a camera near your back yard trail.   I can't help wonder what would happen if you just walked past the cameras naked like you owned the woods.
