Halloween
« on: October 10, 2015, 12:23:33 AM »
Halloween has become a pretty big event in the US.   So today I decided to go out to a local cemetery, get in some naked time, and take some Halloween photos.
Its supposedly haunted:  http://spokanehistorical.org/items/show/77

I got out and drove naked for the 25 miles and parked in the cemetery near the "haunted" stairs.  Nice day for a naked drive.  The weather is getting colder but we had a nice day today.  One woman drove in while I was taking this photo so I ducked behind a bush.  She parked not too far away.  And then the maintenance guy came buy with his maintenance cart, changing sprinklers.

Here I am naked among the tombstones.  There was a surprising number of people wandering about today so I had to be careful.

Here I am on the old "haunted" stairs.   Actually there is a busy road with a continual parade of cars going past below the stairs.  It feels very exposed but actually its overgrown with trees and brush so its unlikely that passing cars notice.

And this one is with my Halloween costume.  Pretty good day for photos.

Going back I needed to stop at my bank and for lunch so I wore some pants and shirt into town.  Then after the bank I got naked for the drive home again.  Life is good.

That IS a very original SN. A cemetery in broad daylight with groundskeepers afoot!

Did you scope it out first, previously been there, or just stop in like a tourist looking for a photo opp? Did you do a stroll, or just keep to a safe area? What was the duration?

Any way, kudos to your audacious balls! Why not, if your free range extends to holidays and less usual recreation sites, do it.

That pose, even down to the finger point and garb have an authentic chic.

Fun.

Maybe DF and I can rewrite our ghoolish adventure at the henge. The original report, was lost, I think, in the first great TSNS crash...or maybe dream up something new. Then again, I think that I had to win a bet or something to get her to do that one.

I was there once before, on Memorial Day. There were lots of people there for Memorial day.  I guessed that there wouldn't be hardly anyone in the cemetery on a mid week afternoon with nothing special going on.  I was actually surprised by how many people were there.   Even the groundskeeper.  Its a big place and I hoped he would be tending another section -- which he was when I arrived but the sprinklers were on and he came back to move them.

I did some strolling about but kept over near the edge where there were bushes and some large stones.  The place was more occupied than I hoped for.  The old stair had nobody else around except for the busy road at the bottom of the stairs.

The local tourist promotion office is trying to use the "haunted" stairs as a tourist attraction, but the cemetery management is trying to make them go away.  They destroyed the top and bottom of the stairs, ripped up concrete.  Anyway I was safe being naked on the stairs and the terraces that they once served.

It was a fun trip.  It was a nice nude drive too.  I would have done more strolling about if fewer other visitors were around. The groundskeeper came and moved his sprinklers and then headed back to the others side.  After that he was safely gone for an hour.  But then another woman drove in and parked right near where I was taking my photos.  Overall it was a warm sunny afternoon to be out and about.

Sounds cool.  Why not write a new ghoolish adventure and then go out and do it.

Missed a trick (or treat!) there, Bob.  You should've gone to town in your Halloween costume!

I have to say, on a non naturist theme, that your garment is really cool and indeed not a little scary.  Would that those ghost monk / grim reaper fashions would return.  I have always thought that next to actual nakedness, a monk's habit is a pretty good garment for minimising number of clothing garments and leaving much of the body free of cladding albeit underneath the habit.

John

PS, BTW Could I now exhort you, my dear colleagues, to either refrain from returning 'dirty habit' jokes, 'fish friar' puns or the like unless they are imbued with a freshness and originality that make them worthy of sharing with this erudite, educated and edifying group!

...........Ok, I couldn't resist:  What do you call an overweight monk down a mine?  A Deep Fat Friar. (made that one up as far as I know)

At the risk of being banned for ever here is a picture of an erudite corpulent monk.

A number of years ago I found a robe in a runners magazine called a Change-a-robe which was cut big enough to actually change clothes under. We bought them as a changing device for the misses in campground showers when she wanted a little more privacy. I mostly used mine to change out of wet cycling clothes when I was not able to do so at a parking lot. The freedom was much like wearing the kilt and was an excellent way to keep the chill away on those nights. The feeling of being naked underneath made it a good garment as John said.

It was a great garment for that next to nakedness feeling and I used mine a number of times to change out of wet cycling clothes and into something more comfortable for the drive home after a ride. At crowded trailheads lets say it kept me within the law. Some cooler evenings I would also wear it just to keep the chill away but still feeling free. Now that the kilts have taken over my wardrobe the misses uses mine at home for the same purpose.

When it gets cold, I have a thick terry robe that I put on when needed. It has been hanging behind the door of the bathroom since last February, but the day will come. I'll have to check it for spiders and dust off the shoulders. It'll need an annual wash. I wear it other than to the store.

The robe thing is big with monks and Mongolian peoples. I discovered that all around use as my first persona in the Society for Creative Anachronisms. The fat sleeves, like this ensemble can be used like a muff, there is no need for any other clothing, the waist is adjustable for exacting comfort. The basic has been a popular fashion and practical in countless societies throughout history, worldwide, for example, Japan, China, Medieval Europe, Greece, african... hmm, about everywhere. It would be nice if this kind of garb would become fashion again in colder weather, along with acceptance of nude in warmer months and climes...like the good old days, practical and comfortable.

As Bob's setup demonstrates with the pull over, it can be decorated as festive and attractive and more.

Panchos work well too.
