Twas Another Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, grandma and grandpa sit on the couch.
They had been busy all through the day,
Making money, cleaning house and burning old hay.

Then outside there arose such a clatter,
Grandma jumped and peeked out the door to check on the matter,
There in the driveway two little folk jumped,
Soon the older's hearts were all pumped!

There had been only five minutes to rest without pants again.
and coming our way bounced early arriving kin.
They ran toward the bedroom, grandma and grandpa left to their fate,
Attempting to cover before it's too late.

On one foot, on another, tripping, hearts in a flutter,
up zipper, down shirt tails, squeezing at the waist,
On one sock, then two sock, quick shut the door,
Little heads heading our way in joy, through my pants leg my toe nails tore.

Then just as we thought that we had been caught,
They stopped at the bag of presents they'd brought.
Our surprised eyes betrayed our distress,
But nobody noticed, that we hadn't been dressed.

We covered our bodies to keep in the heat,
We walked into the cold, together with feet.
The Christmas lights were out, don't you know,
We toured them all, they had our hearts all aglow.

Hot chocolate, and cookies, we dinned on with glee,
We read a holiday book, with sweet children on knee.
They left for bed, before Santa arrived,
at their home, for gifts at sunrise.

Grandma and grandpa, cuddled in front of the fire,
"Are they gone now?" she had to inquire.
They disrobed into comfort, they rested at last,
Stinky cheeses and crackers, Christmas is no time to fast.

The coals the hot embers, danced through the night,
The colors of Christmas our bodies a red light.
A hug, and a kiss, a chuckle and cuddle,
Melting like snow into a puddle.

True story, there we were.

This was an unusual Christmas for the Walker household. With the family scattered about the wife and I spent the night cozy at home. The weather was odd with numerous high temperature records broken but it is also odd as how the misses seems to feel chilled so has been in flannels. The only thing I had on were the Christmas tree lights and the candles in the window.

Christmas day was spent visiting and we traveled to the daughters for an overnighter. I did do a hotel streak to the icemaker which was a few doors away. Not as brave as it seems as very few patrons there that night. The misses did mention what if I were seen on security cameras like it made a difference. After all I said, there wasn't any skinny dipping in the pool! the suprise to me was early this morning we were warmer than Jbee's desert home. Winter is supposed to return by New Years about the same time we head south!

Winter came and then went,  been going around in summer wear (or lack of it) for several days.   I've seen it get into the 60's around Christmas and new years but mid 70's is quite unusual.  Average high in the 40's.      But the rain is starting,  and when it passes the cold moves in behind it again.    I took the opportunity to switch stoves this morning,  got a larger one in that will hold enough wood to last all night.   One I built years ago from a water heater tank and had in the old house.    I'm heating a tub outside,   decided to get in a hot tub soak since I missed it last week, raining steady when I wanted to do it.  Got in some time naked in the woods yesterday.   Not terribly unusual, but is unusual to be so comfortable that way this time of year.

All this balmy unusual weather, freak storms in Texas, towns burning in Australia and Underwater in Northern England - Weather is like a bank balance - we shall pay for the warm wet spell soon in icy Jan/feb possibly Mar conditions.  Not looking forward to that.  Fingers crossed. Road salt and de-icer purchased.

Ice and snow should at least kill off some of those summer bugs!

Last year the west side of North America was warm and the east side was cold.  This year its reversed.  Since I'm a left coast guy we are on the cold side this time.  On the whole, I enjoyed being warm better.

NUduke wrote, "...we shall pay for the warm wet spell soon in icy Jan/feb possibly Mar conditions." Don't count on that. We hardly had winter at all last year, Whacky weather has mixed blessings and now, always extreme and surprising.

That's true, Davie.  I think we need it this year!  I've never seen so many insects in the depth of winter.  There are still flying insects in our garden occasionally.  Mind you, having just moved to more rural parts, I'm not sure if that's normal but I guess not.  I have mice in my roof space and after Christmas I was 'patrolling' the several traps and bait points I have laid and spotted a large wasp clinging to the wall inside.  Overwintering I suppose.  Well...it was...

I do like ReubenT’s seasonal approach of preparing for warmer days, during the colder often indoor and bundled up months, as expressed on the skirt/cover thread.

I'm collecting/downloading maps and searching the net. My subscription to Alltrails is giving out and I’m getting them at the last minute.

I’m tweaking my super ultralight 6 lb. or less overnight gear. I'll have no cooking gear, and maybe some fresher food. I have collected some peanut butter and Kimchi plastic jars. I can put dehydrated re-fried black beans with hummus into them and add water. I can add some blue corn chips, for taco/enchilada flavors. Dehydrated apple slices go well with that. I have a wide mesh bag that had had citrus fruit in it. I have to make an effective cord, that weaves through one end. It can hang it all from the cords on my pack and bake in the sun as I walk in the sun. My already done diner, or lunch, will be nice and warm by the time I stop (not perfectly dependable). Protein, carbs, tasty, and time saving. It is only 24 or more hours on an overnight. I don’t need much more that to throw down, a bivy and staying warm. A strip of floss, a brush, a few wipe items.

Otherwise, I'm looking for windows of opportunity. This winter, so far has been wet and colder than…well probably history. Yesterday I tried out naked in the snow! Then, I went into snow boots, wool pancho and hat experiment. Over-nighters have been out, but day hikes have been nice in the Tortolitas. The being cooped up has made the nice days even nicer.

I’ve been coming up with exercises to do indoors and do elsewhere this year. I’m practicing squatting, the natural way to relax, armpits around knees, and variations of this basic parameter. It is great for stretching my back and the abdomen. It is great for using the muscles that I use to barefoot and run in the calves and thighs. It has made a difference. It looks very uncool. I haven’t sat this way since I was on the playground and some duffus decided to tip me over backwards in my vulnerable position. It is a norm in third world, closer to nature societies, where they don’t have elimination track troubles and get stiff legs and hips with age, like we civilized people do. The position and exercise works best nude and natural.

My chiropractor has discouraged me from using movements that enforce abdomen, groin and lower back systems, for years. I have been sitting without enough daily movement. I notice this and it makes for more creeks and groans as I age. The system needs to move enough every day. The result was after bangup high marks on every part of my end of year physical, the last thing the doc checked was hernia and I failed. So, I’m looking to fix that with exercises, extra vitamin C, massage and stretching, slowly, but surely. Although not a problem, he suggested not getting over six hours from a hospital (his example was, “if you go hiking in the Andes”). If it pops out and twist stuck, I’d be dead in that time. So. Squat, Squatty Potty, diet as usual, and abdomen and associated back muscle tone is needed to overcome this modern man problem. I’m looking into GPS something for rescue, just in case. My son told me of an app for $20 that does that, but I like my old compact geriatric clamshell phone. Any suggestions, on hernia, or GPS equipment for rescue and hiking with topo, my fellows?

Tell me about the age related creaks.  LOL
The winter so far has been so warm and wet that the grass is growing like it's going out of fashion but the ground is too wet to mow it.
I've been spending the recent weeks signing up for an autumn naked sailing trip in the South Ionian Sea, planning my summer French trip and getting ready for my 4 weeks on Fuerteventura for which I will post a trip report.

It's actually only 4 BN members getting together on a flotilla yacht.

No sails then? Is that a BN flotilla? Is it guided tour, or rent a yacht and find your own way, or....? A tour of nude beachs flotilla? Doing the Ionian Sea, does that mean Greece, or Italy, or islands, coast. With a captain, or crew? Now, I'm curious, very intriguing. Sounds very fun.

I'm still working on a Lake Powell house boat for a week. Looks like it may be put off another year at this point. Getting the right nude preference people that you would enjoy in closer quarters for a week together has been tough, and 9-10 months in advance. But, it IS coming...one of these days. This year's trip ain't dead yet.

It's just us five naturists on a .oat like this http://www.sailingholidays.com/yachts/beneteau-361 doing the South Ionian 2-week flotilla cruise.
One of the five is just doing the first week so I'm taking the second week.
I hope to have plenty of pics and a video.
