Twas Another Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, grandma and grandpa sit on the couch.
They had been busy all through the day,
Making money, cleaning house and burning old hay.
Then outside there arose such a clatter,
Grandma jumped and peeked out the door to check on the matter,
There in the driveway two little folk jumped,
Soon the older's hearts were all pumped!
There had been only five minutes to rest without pants again.
and coming our way bounced early arriving kin.
They ran toward the bedroom, grandma and grandpa left to their fate,
Attempting to cover before it's too late.
On one foot, on another, tripping, hearts in a flutter,
up zipper, down shirt tails, squeezing at the waist,
On one sock, then two sock, quick shut the door,
Little heads heading our way in joy, through my pants leg my toe nails tore.
Then just as we thought that we had been caught,
They stopped at the bag of presents they'd brought.
Our surprised eyes betrayed our distress,
But nobody noticed, that we hadn't been dressed.
We covered our bodies to keep in the heat,
We walked into the cold, together with feet.
The Christmas lights were out, don't you know,
We toured them all, they had our hearts all aglow.
Hot chocolate, and cookies, we dinned on with glee,
We read a holiday book, with sweet children on knee.
They left for bed, before Santa arrived,
at their home, for gifts at sunrise.
Grandma and grandpa, cuddled in front of the fire,
"Are they gone now?" she had to inquire.
They disrobed into comfort, they rested at last,
Stinky cheeses and crackers, Christmas is no time to fast.
The coals the hot embers, danced through the night,
The colors of Christmas our bodies a red light.
A hug, and a kiss, a chuckle and cuddle,
Melting like snow into a puddle.
True story, there we were.
