Badabing, Oohlala! I hope that is a trip report , Too!

It will have to be from memory as I don't expect to have the kit to do a day by day log.

However I'm thinking of doing some sort of blog of my upcoming Fuerteventura trip.

JBee, so sorry to hear you have a hernia.  They are so common - I live in fear.  I strained an inguinal muscle last year, took it to the doc as I was concerned it could be a hernia.  It wasn't, but that led to 2 colonoscopies to check it wasn't bowel cancer either! It wasn't and it got better!  Phew.

I usually make a journal of anecdotal notes on a sheet of paper, once or twice a day. I add this to the photos to jog my memory later. I use this to project myself back into the moment as I write, then edit. There is some reliving of the events that way, which is fun. Memory fades fast, I find, when I go back and see the small but flavor full things that are often are lost without putting it on paper.

I've been researching intently. The doctor had this accepting, but watch out for the small possibility of life threatening circumstance attitude, but that isn't enough for me. I now know what it is and I'm looking at it as a system. There was a reason that it to happened and that gave me clues as to how to keep it form getting worse and get better. I've even seen evidence that cure is possible with diligent patient care. I've taken some after surgery care exercise and preventative care exercise and looked at the dangers of these. Then the biology of muscle structure, fascia, and the general. I'm starting a slow patient exercise system that won't make for more problems, taking care with awareness, as I feel the muscles work in specific areas. Plus stretches. Some things can further damage and some make support. This should improve the area and also improve back support at the same time. One of the main reasons for this problem was discouragement of exercises for fear of straining my back. It will create more youthful elasticity and may even create a more attractive flatter stomach like days gone-by. I was getting into an improved exercise program for my health anyway. This is the stimulus and probably a blessing in motivation and habit creation.

As for the nude part of this. The movements of walking are very good, but I've found the use of squatting, the old-time third-world rest position is very good for this. Something best without clothing. I bought a "Squatty Potty" ( go to the website and checkout the commercial with the unicorn, its hilarious), which helps keep the hernia from being strained anymore, the fascia needs a rest and this is a major strain. The results have been very good so far. There I go back to the past, again to find the value in primitive behaviors that we have lost, but developed with tens of thousands of years before becoming "civilized" made ourselves sick. You remember squatting as a kid until some doof came by and tipped you backwards?

I had high cholesterol and the doc wanted me on pills, but I control it with diet. I found cure for hypoglycemic problems with diet. He told me to eat supplements for vitaminD shortage and I use naked sun and raw eggs to fix that. Sciatica and mortens neuroma changed with massage stretch and earthing, not operations, not accepting it. This looks to be similar outcome. Everything I've targeted improved more than just that specific thing. I've been getting younger.

Speaking of health issues. I recently read that the back and genitals in the sunshine are the principle creators of testosterone. Get those balls out in the sunshine boys! ;) They were meant to be there! I need to do some followup research, but it was a pretty good second hand source of information.

The wife constantly reminds me "it's a bitch to get old!". She has had more medical/physical problems than myself but usually maintains a positive attitude. So far I have managed to keep my cholesterol and hypoglycemia controlled by diet. Triglycerides are another story as it is a hereditary thing from my mothers side. Despite efforts on my part the weight continues to be a problem.

Even in winter.  Yesterday it was only mid 30s and snow still covers our lands but I got outside naked for a while.  I drove down to the road and parked the 4x4 Ford with the chains at the end of my driveway.  Then i got out and walked across the snow covered road to my mail box on the other side.   The cold compact snow felt cool on my bare feet.

No mail today.  As I turned around I noticed that some SUV had come around the next corner and was headed toward me.   I hurried back across the road and returned to my vehicle.  I'm sure the other person saw me out crossing the road naked.  Life is good.  Summer is coming.  Carpe Diem!

Winter is here now. I had to pick up Mrs D from hospital today during heavy driving rain and cold, and tomorrow threatens sleet. It could actually snow. (In winter!!!) Anything more than a quarter of an inch and Birmingham will shut everything down starting with the schools. Elf and Safety!!

Escape from the polar vortex was possible however as it pushed south Florida temperature has been lowered to the 50's to low 60's. Even at that this north dweller can tolerate this as long as the wind doesn't blow too hard and the sun shines. Still trying to find an area to explore naked for an extended period of time. Also a chance to kayak whenever time allows and there are no small craft warnings!

got the fabric in today.  It looks like it'll do the job.   Nice grid of tiny holes.    Without light behind it it'll be fine anyway.   Might have to use something more opaque for liner in certain spots if that becomes an issue.   Supposed to get colder next week,   down to 10F one night,  that'll keep me in more as long as something isn't critical to get done out there.  Might find time to start making something with it.     Seems stupid that making an item of clothing would inspire anticipation for more naked time when warm weather comes around again.  But that's the crazy way things work sometimes.

A friend locally who has an auto repair shop has been having some difficulty meeting property payments,  it's come down to where he'll have to move out unless someone buys it that lets him stay.   (there is that possibility)  If he does have to move out we'll probably build another shop for him to work in on another friends place,  only about 2 miles from where he's at.    Last spring I bought his milling machine,  left it there, but Monday I went and loaded it. 2,750 lb.   Managed to do it with a hand winch pulling it up pipe ramps onto my trailer.     And while there he offered me his lathe,  so I bought it too even though I already have one.  Someone else supposedly wants to swap a much bigger lathe for it so I'll see if that will work.  Keep the equipment in our little circle of friends that way,  and if he needs it he's free to come use it here.     Looks like I'm getting more stuff than I thought I would.    End up with enough metal working equipment to make or fix almost anything.   (the equipment was all there when he bought the place,  he didn't have a great amount of use for it all anyway.)  Today I wasted all day messing with electric winches,  tried to fix a 4 ton winch until I discovered the motor bushings were worn too much to run consistently.  Then started on a 3/4 ton winch,   stuck motor from sitting too long,  I think it's going to work.  Need to rig an overhead lift to unload the milling machine.  A pulley to double the pull and the 3/4 ton winch just might be able to lift it.

In time I'll work toward getting my cupola furnace operational and be able to melt iron and pour my own engine parts.    Steam engines is what I like.   150 + year old technology that isn't made any more.   But they run on wood and water.   Since wood and water are the most abundant resource we have,  it only makes sense to use em and quit buying that robber juice just to move stuff around,  saw lumber,  plow and rototill, etc.    I could run the grain mill and sorghum press with one as well.  Eventually a threshing machine since I want to try growing some crops that need threshing, small scale so the old fashioned methods are plenty good enough.

?????"... Since wood and water are the most abundant resource we have,...." Wow, what a concept. It is hard to wrap my head around that one. We paid $140 for much less than a cord of wood for the sweat last week!  The desert provides ample sunshine for power, but that's not heavy machinery juice quite yet.

So, Bob, I take it that the 'ol 4x4 doesn't have vinyl seats anymore. ;D

Finally got out and about. The weather was cold but clear with frost on the ground. I did a walk local to where I live of about five miles. I managed to do a small portion naked. It was rather open countryside without the leaves on the trees and the hedges but at times there was a biting cold wind. As much as I like being naked nudity will not trump safety. I'd toyed with the idea of stripping off sooner but I heard a slight unusual sound and on looking closer saw a man with two dogs. He was wearing dark brown coat and was almost completely disguised against the background hedge.

Jbee,
I too have reverted to the natural posture for defecation (i.e. squatting) quite a few years ago to see if it would positively affect my piles and it did.  I am untroubled these days.  The conformation of our bathroom in the previous house meant squatting on the seat was quite comfortable but in the new house that's more difficult (nothing to steady yourself against!). So in September, I bought a squatty potty (dreadful title!) and haven't looked back (pun!).  The rather better position it allows you to adopt means that evacuation is even easier, no straining and (too much detail coming folks!) much less wiping.  Hurrah for squatting I say.  I'd heartily recommend it to anyone.  I'm going to have a squat toilet put in to our upcoming new bathroom if I can convince the spouse (on the assumption that she will object!  Maybe not, we'll see).

I mentioned in an earlier post that the grass was still growing and needed cutting.  Friday was fine, dry & sunny, Saturday was fine dry & sunny, ground drying sufficiently and then....Snow on Saturday night!  So everything sodden again as melted by Sunday afternoon.  Ah cruel fate!  Lots more work to cut damp longer grass.

Reuben - you build steam engines!  Wow that's amazing and great.  I was a steam modeller in my youth but haven't done any for years. Why did we abandon steam power?  It's wonderful.  What do you build in the heart of America - stationary engines?  Traction engines? Locos?

Oh sorry guys, if Reuben responds I promise I won't divert the site into an engineering hobbyists forum but I'd love to know about his steam engine activity! :D :D
