My Fuerteventura Holiday
« on: January 18, 2016, 10:58:19 AM »
We got here Wednesday evening after overnighting in Gatwick Hilton and stripped off immediately for a naked supper but in spite of having had several periods of 24 hours totally naked I have not got round to any free range naturism yet.
The best I've got to offer so far is a picture of me cooking supper and a short video of a swim.

I'm planning to try a walk later today and hope to have more to report.

I did have my walk - a reconnaissance for a beach walk that I may be doing next week with some members of a British Naturism group holiday.
As my knee isn't as good as it used to be I took the bus to the middle of the beach and stripped off by the roadside before doing the rest of the walk naked.

Folding my shirt with a police car flashing its blue lights on the main road in the background.

Finally removing my shorts

The first part of the walk was very busy with fully clothed beach walkers, some bundled up in many layers including warm fleeces. At this point I was the only nude around but I didn't seem to attract any particular attention as I walked the tide line looking for points of interest.
As I expected there was very little marine life to be seen but I did spot some strange patterns in the thin film of sand in some of the rock pools.
On closer inspection they had been made by some limpets moving around.

Limpet trails

If I get the chance I will take a video camera and see if I can get some speeded-up footage of them actually moving.

Further on a freak of the sunlight drew my attention to the mother-of-pearl knob on top of their shells. I must look them up when I get back home.

A slightly blurred shot of one of the limpets.

Apart from that the only wildlife to be seen was a couple of common grey backed gulls and a solitary curlew which was too far away to get a picture with the GoPro camera I took with me.

After a quick swim I walked back to a beach bar for lunch and returned to the roadside to dress for the bus ride back to the apartment.

It would be a thrill to find a strech of beach here to be able to walk naked! The closest sanctioned nude beach os at least a three hour drive. Too much development here to allow for much free range time. Please keep us updated.

Naked at lunch, sounds good. I don't get to beaches much, anymore.

I had to look up limpet on wikipedia. It is a European thing, and Sidney was mentioned.

LiMPETS (Long-term Monitoring Program and Experiential Training for Students) oops, wrong.

I'm afraid it wasn't a naked lunch, much as I would have liked it. I did try it at some of the beach bars but they all seem to require clothing so I put my shorts on to eat, removing them again as soon as I was away from the beach bar.
However I still live in hope as the target beach bistro for the BN walk is in the most nude intensive part of the beach area.

What would they do? Just watch 6 or 8 (or more?) customers walk away for a dress code violation at a beach bar at a nude beach? You all may start something. Why would one be expected to be dressed while watching nude people cavort happily on the beach. Seeing someone nude in the restaurant would be the same as on the beach. How many seats and customers does the place accommodate? Can they afford the loss? Nudes would probably support those that support them...I dunno....

Maybe the same rules that apply in the states (no shirt, no shoes, no service) applies here. The establishment fears that a hot beverage spilled on a customers private parts would lead to a lawsuit?

Same result if they were wearing swimwear. I don't think that Europe is as tortured by lawsuits as Americans.

So, JOhn, does this restaurant allow swimwear, since it is on the beach, or are they being more hoity toity good manners, table cloth, like French nudist culture at dinner time?

JBee - they certainly allow swimwear as a young man came in for a coffee wearing wet long legged swim shorts. He was wearing cotton underwear underneath them and had apparently been swimming dressed like that as about an inch of wet cotton underwear was visible above the wet waistband of the swim shorts.
I was wearing this pair of unlined shorts and no shirt.

We have a nice place on the coast north of Boston (not exactly legal, but easy enough to get away with, and you can see anyone coming for miles):

John, I'm curious--is the good ship Ernest your own boat, or are you renting it from someone? I see it carries the emblem of the St Pancras Cruising Club in London, and you live in south Wales. How does that work?

We used to live in London and we kept Ernest there for many years before moving to more convenient moorings while retaining our association with SPCC as "country members."

Thanks for explaining, John. A man with his own canal boat! Now back to adventures in Fuerteventura.

Not much free range naturism since my last report as I have mostly been lazing around and swimming (naked of course) in the apartment complex.
However, Renaldo's - the target beach bar for the projected BN group walk was closed when I did my original reconnaissance  so on Thursday I rented a bicycle for the day and rode down to the nearest point on the road where I locked the cycle to a post and undressed for the walk across the dunes to the bar.
Renaldo insists on a modicum of clothing so I used my wrap to have a small beer and make sure they would welcome a group of 6 to 8 people I expected to be the most that would wish to join me.

Dressed in my wrap at Renaldo's - the only remaining non-modernised beach bar

On Sunday I went to the Gran Natura hotel to check on the arrangements, undressing for the couple of hundred yards along the beach from the bus stop so as to arrive at the hotel properly attired.
I then found that 20 people were hoping to join me, so knowing that the beach bar had limited accommodation I got a lift down to find out how many they could deal with and arranged that the surplus walkers would return to eat at one of the homogenised beach bars further up the beach.
In the end only about a dozen joined the walk and some of these turned back part way so that, as the Renaldo's was fairly quiet when we got there they were able to serve us all with lunch, finishing with a complimentary shot of Canarian honey rum to fortify us for our naked return walk.
Given the worn out state of my knee I was delighted with my achievement - a walk of almost 7 miles according to one of our members' GPS.
