Hurrah!  A chance meeting of two site members and three SNs in the same resort!  We've almost got enough for a FRN / SN Spanish convention!

You're very welcome Neil Barerider - do join in our rantings and chattings here.

So, both of you, - get Clive to join us here and all three get together for a naked walk in Fuerte and tell us all about it! :)

John

No real free-range naturism to report since my last post, I'm afraid, but we are now across the island in El Cotillo where I hope to do some worthwhile naked walking and cycling.
So far my nudity has been confined to the beach and the apartment complex which, although not a dedicated naturist venue is totally nude friendly.

Relaxing reading at the apartment in full view of the road.

As far as the beach is concerned, so far I seem to be the only nude bather but that has not deterred my from walking naked to and from Torino's beach bar for lunch where I wrapped a towel round myself, having taken I no clothing.

Using the public beach shower

A rather poor picture of one of my favourite fish in the rock pool.
The neon blue edge to the fins is just about viewable

Some of the fish I saw when snorkeling (naked of course).

Very little FRN since my last posting.
Just a little urban FRN yesterday morning when, it being very quiet I set out for a naked cycle ride to the bank to get some more money from the cash machine.
After getting the money I put on shirt and shorts to cycle to the baker's for fresh bread and croissants for breakfast, after which I spent the rest of the day naked until we went out to a restaurant in the evening.

My apologies, JOhn. I thought that you looked rather familiar on the day, but it was not until we had returned to the UK on the Wednesday that I checked out this site and realised that you were actually on the island, and that it almost certainly was you.

I owe you a beer!

We spent a week in El Cotillo, where I was able to indulge in naked cycling on five successive mornings, then a week in the Gran Hotel Natura. The latter is the last building on the beach, right on the national park border, with a couple of kilometres to the big ugly illegally built tourist hotels that should not be there. (What, me, prejudiced?).

If you leave by the back gate you can walk into the sand and lava dunes area without the need to carry any clothes. I did just that on several mornings, timing it to see the sunrise, and walking a couple of miles or so, leaving in the dark and arriving back in full daylight. There were a few people around, some said 'Hi' in a variety of languages and some didn't! One of the island's quite busy main roads is only a few yards away at the start, but that is no problem, the drivers are busy looking where they are going.

You could do the same walk naked during the day, but the area does tend to get rather busy with textiles and you would need a thicker skin.

No FRN worth recording since my cycle ride to the bank, just spending the whole day naked walking the beach and walking the quarter mile up the road to the recycling point. I did take a little evasive action on one of these recycling walks when a Guardia Civil patrol car came up the road towards me. I'm sure they must have seen me but they didn't bother to stop.

This morning, however I did my first extended naked cycle ride to the lighthouse - it's only a couple of miles as the crow flies but I cycled along the coast through the dunes stopping regularly to survey the coastline for wildlife and setting up the video camera to record it whenever I could get close enough for the camera's 16X zoom. I find that is as much zoom as I can keep the camera steady for with the lightweight tripod which I use for these jaunts.
In all the ride took about two hours, totally naked at all times and without any clothing with me to cover up.

A few frame grabs from the video footage - the edited video must wait until I get home.

Some egrets

Some Sandlings (I think)

Today I did my long cycle ride past the lighthouse, along the north road to Majanicho and then over the volcanic hills to Lajares wnere M met me for lunch., having come by bus and spent some time (but no money) at the Saturday Artisans' Market - more of a hippy market really.

I took several pictures of the various coves and then realised that there are many better ones available by choosing the "show photographs" option on Google Earth so I have included just two of me on a couple of the beaches and one at a ruined finca which I passed on the way back from Lajares.

The first lagoon after the lighthouse.

The next lagoon along.

The ruined finca

I have attached a screen shot of the Google Earth .KMZ file of the ride as I can't attach the file itself here.
The ride itself totalled almost 18 miles of which just over half was totally naked.
The green bits were done naked, the yellow bits wearing shorts and the red bits wearing shirt and shorts.

The way I decided was:
Un-metalled roads naked
Metalled roads and cycle paths in shorts
Lajares village in shirt and shorts.

You are having a whale of a naked time, JOhn!
You will definitely carry the golden crown for the brownest exterior!

What sun protection do you use?

As I never seem to totally lose my tan and re-tan excessively easily I merely make sure i don't expose myself to the sun to the extent of feeling any burning.
Then after a few days the additional skin pigmentation seems to take care of things without using creams, etc. so I haven't used any at all for the last few years.

Actually, I have a theory that in some cases it is the chemicals in sun creams that causes some cancers.

No FRN today but the weather was too good to dress and go to the bar to watch the Ireland v Wales Six Nations match so I listened to it on BBC Radio Wales in the sunshine - the internet connection here is too fragile to support the television signal.

My theory, too. There is evidence to support this. The nature of skin protects, unless you are somekinda particularly red/pink/ivory/ Norwegian something. It is designed to do that and the seasons take care of it all if you are regularly in the sun, so as to not burn. There are also those unnatural chemicals, seeping into skin, and the suppression of vitamin D production which brings on a host of inefficiencies and potential maladies. Nude is natural, is best. just keep away from the burning. Thanks for saying that.

There is a hint in JOhn's post above

Alternatively, just double clicking the downloaded file prompted Windows to say it does not know how to open the file and would I like it to look on the web for a solution. Clicking Yes took me to the Google Earth download page and from there is was all plain sailing.

Good luck,

Ian.

The week before JOhn arrived we were in El Cotillo, staying in an apartment in the middle of the village. It was my custom to go out in the early morning and cycle naked along the road towards Majanicho  I rented a mountain bike from the friendly shop near the football stadium. They lend you free of charge a helmet, pump, repair outfit and tools just in case....

On five consecutive mornings I left the apartment before dawn, timing the trip to arrive at the start of the Majanicho track just as the light was good enough to ride safely over the corrugated bits and the soft sand sections. The initial section of my route was through the centre of the village past the only big hotel, so some clothes were necessary, in this case a buttoned shirt and Scott's Running Kilt. One unusual item in my flight baggage was a set of easily mounted flashing cycle lights to warn any half asleep road users.

At the end of the urban area, the place marked as 'Los Lagos' on the map, the clothes came off and into the rack bag. The buttons came in here as my shirt could be removed without needing to also take off my helmet and glasses. My route then followed the curve of the 'D' on the map. This a curious place, a well surfaced road with non-functional street light standards. It was apparently the start of a now abandoned development authorised by the then mayor, who coincidentally had close connections with the developer.....

At the top of the 'D' I turned right onto the track. On one of the days I was too early for the light level, so I carried on up to the lighthouse, round the car park and back, still naked.

I then carried on as far as the mood took me. The sandy bits die out after about a mile and the riding becomes easier. It was still very rough, and I salute you, JOhn, for traversing the whole length in one go!

The area was not deserted. At first light the surfers come out, charging along the track in their cars looking for the best waves of the day. They in general took no notice of a nude cyclist. I took good care  to keep out of their way when we met on the sandy sections. The one exception was when a car overtook me, then stopped. After I had passed it he then overtook me again, and I noticed that the passenger was taking pictures with his mobile phone. There was also the odd runner, and quite a few illegally parked motor homes/campervans, often situated near the 'No Camping' signs. Here I had the moral high ground as I was not breaking any laws!

On arrival back at the main road, if there was no one around there was a short downhill swoop obviously best ridden naked, to the start of a track following the straight section of the 'D'. This track was impossible to ride in the dark but traversable in the light. At the end of this it was time to dress in shirt and conventional shorts for the ride home past the houses. The Scott Kilt is a bit too revealing when cycling.

I managed the best part of an hour cycling without clothes each day, after which I would rouse my wife from her bed and we would prepare to go sunbathing on the beach up by the El Caleton apartments some forty minutes walk from our apartment.

We had perfect weather for the week. here's to 2017.
