Re-introduction
« on: March 08, 2016, 10:14:03 PM »
I believe this is momentous enough to rate a new posting in this section.

My profile says I'm in Massachusetts USA, and I won't change it. However, my wife and I are now resident in London, which is where we'll be for the next few months, until the end of June. The reason relates to family circumstances, but I won't go into details here. While we're in this location, of course I'd like to meet some British naturists, as long as nobody asks about Donald Trump; I've got the intention of sending messages to a couple of people here. On previous visits, I've enjoyed walks with the Singles Outdoor Club, so joining their outings is a definite possibility when the weather warms up. Our location is in Putney, SW15.

Willing to travel, suggestions welcome.

Donald Trump; there used to be a kids TV programme about him...
(That may not mean much to our American friends...)

I am aiming to get to the SOC walk on 7 May 2016 near Salisbury; hope to see you there.

Have fun,

Ian.

Can we delete the partisan political smearing before this site deteriorates into angry political name calling?

Yea, wouldn't want the site to deteriorate to the level of the Republican debates! ;D

We must remember that the site is for things associated with free range naturism. We don't want to offend. We are very diverse here. So far the horse race has left us alone.

BUT, who would we endorse on naturist values, if we were an association like the NRA and endorsed candidates solely on our one issue...well, maybe not NRA.

Hilary wants to put people into school uniforms as a solution to education problems and deleting their humanity, "dress" for success. She obviously has body issues, Look at the lines on that clothing F.

Bernie has been involved with Vermont, one of the most pro-nudity states in the union, he's safe. B+ because he's just safe and not one of us.

Trump is obviously in Playboy Magazine mode, a double standard on body acceptance issues. He might get wild in his Manhattan apartment, or his heart, but he couldn't be a naturist. D+

The others are just plain absolutely the enemy of body freedom. F-

Hum. sometimes it is good not to a be major issue in the media.  :-X

What is the name of the kids show? Is it on Youtube? I'd like to see it for other than naturists issues.

Yes, well. I'm in England and I'd love to meet some local naturists; in fact I plan to send some messages to users here.

I'm happy to be far away from American politics (not that there's any lack of reports in the British press). There's certainly no need to fight any battles on this board.

Now, to stay in the European Union or not to stay, that is the question...  No, let's not talk about that either.

The worst thing about the Trumpton post IMHO is that it would not be funny to anybody who was not familiar with the original children's programme on television.
If I had been an ardent Trump supporter I would still have found it amusing, knowing the reference.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I could see how the doctored photo would offend, even after watching some of the shows. I'm considering the fire brigade names switch. Otherwise, he's kinda cute there in a cute show. Definitely way political. I just wish that my candidates message got out like his does. He seems to be everywhere, even here!

First, it is almost always inappropriate for people in one country to publish slurs about political campaigns or candidates in another country.

Second, there are millions of ANGRY Americans who are supporting Trump.  He is most probably going to be the next President of the US.  Finding Trump bashing cartoons from other countries is rude at best, and offensive.

Most non-political web sites rigorously avoid partisan political arguments, especially when there are likely to be strong feelings on both sides of the political campaigns.  Political discussions are best left for political sites where political arguments are appropriate.

Seems to me that the MODS should delete this whole topic.

I don't have a problem with a political thread, especially related to naturist ethos, but don't hijack this one - it's rude.

Glad to see you over here, John. If you sre thinking of coming north (Lake District), let me know.

I see everyone with a right to an opinion, other countries, everywhere. There are millions of angry passionate people rising up from disgust on both the right and the left. Things are getting more and more volatile. Personal opinion, I'd just as soon head over to a political site to debate, insight, maybe poke a few holes to fight off corporate fascism and spread hope. This just ain't the place for that and some of the brethren here are more easily bruised and riled up. I don't want that, not here. We decided long ago to curb the politics at the SN site. I VOTE to stay away from politics here, too...but it is sooo tempting...

...It is sooo easy to get off into political spectrump...oops, spectrum. Dig deeper, Bob, Trump certainly isn't close to having things sewed up at this point. Nobody does. Opinions are flying every which way, while the field is changing rapidly. All of which has little to do with naturism. So we agree to disagree, someplace else.

John P.: " While we're in this location, of course I'd like to meet some British naturists, as long as nobody asks about Donald Trump; I've got the intention of sending messages to a couple of people here." Nothing like going to the trouble to get away from it all as a naturist to what is really important, the moment, like an SOC walk and get assaulted with the media trype, like someone playing a crappy station on the radio and the song gets stuck in your head. There is a time when feel the Bern needs to be about sunshine. Elections and lies shouldn't Trump a flower. Wandering over Hill or yielding to a passerby in nature is more pertinent. Cruise your way into the now.

Its a long time until the election.
In an opinion poll published today by MSNBC and Wall Street Journal, an election between Donald Trump and Hitlary Clinton would vote Trump 74%, Clinton 26%.

Political discussions are prohibited by Rule 2 of this board.  This whole topic should be erased.

ADMINISTRATOR COMMENT:

Political discussions are not allowed on this forum. If there is any further mention of anything political which does not directly relate to naturism then the thread will be locked.

Hey, this is my thread! It's a weird comment on human nature that what I said I didn't want, I was immediately inundated with. Or maybe that's what we have to endure in life generally.

Thank you, Martin. I was going to send you a message, because in fact we will be going to the Lake District at the end of this month and into April. It's possibly not the best time of year to be up on the fells, but there's a reason why we're going then. I'll send a PM with more information.

There's no right or wong time to be in the Lakes. It can rain anytime and I have been out in February in warmer weather than we often get in July......  Currently it has turned warm. It could be glorious spring or back to winter at the end of the month. Hope we can meet up.

Ah the Lake District. Been on Helvellyn in glorious sunshine in February with masses of folk on the top and conversely in foul weather in mid summer. You pays your money and takes your chances.... same too in many parts of the UK.

I recall reading a Bill Bryson book where he explains that us Brits will climb a mountain in foul weather, eat our soggy sandwiches, trudge back down half drowned and say what a wonderful day out it was.
