I helped a friend move and didn't get home until after 3:00. There waiting, was a friend who was already at work building a door for the sauna. He took my attention, until he had to leave. DF had arrived in the meantime for WNGD. She kept busy until after a stint on the patio with us, reading...nude. Then she popped the top covering the garden beds. My friend the carpenter, left and I joined her. Daylight was running out, I still had to get lights out of storage for the party setup and I had to adjust the water (because I messed up and left it running until dry into the garden the day before, when left to spend the h night in Tucson babysitting granddaughter). Well, things may have been rushed, but a sweet time and it was cooler outside at this last minute, a pleasant chore.
Well, we weeded, DF untangled the bean plants and weeded. She gathered veggies that made for one of the better salads of my life. I placed garden arugula onto pizza, to augment a Trader Joe's Arugula Pizza. I made up some VMI fertilizer and also spread some previously incubated solution on the areas along the drip system. I gathered the mineral beads and spread them there, too. I realigned the watering system, placing a switch closer to the sweat construction and getting the garden back onto a timer, so I won't run the house dry again. Naked rushed gardening, but fun. It is so pleasant to see those beautiful, edible, extra nutritious plants alive and thriving. Two kinds of lettuce, arugula, chard, kale, spinach, and carrots (for granddaughter to pull when she visits). String beans, three volunteer tomato plants, melons, parsley, cilantro, three types of mints, garlic chives, and a mullein plant. We do smoothies and salads with it, mostly ingesting it in its uncooked more nutritious state.
Gotta few spaces for the summer crops, like peppers, which need planted very soon.
