A few tidbits that I can throw in:

Someone was trying to get naturism going in Thailand. I have no idea what has become of that.

The Japanese were free in concern of nudity before the American takeover of WWII. Then they politely changed customs to suit the American occupation, which now seems to have perverted the culture to this day. We have changed, but Japan is stuck in the 50's generally, but I could be wrong on that point, it's just what I see and read here and there. I remember in 1954 the baths were open to women, but going in with my dad with mom refraining. There were no women in the baths with us. This was only one location.
This is restaurant's rules are weird and I sense sicko, but it needs to be blamed on meddling ugly Americans back when.

India has those sadus and other sects, but that is regional and there are attempts to make it something to frown on. It is a male thing for the most part today. In South eastern India covering the shoulders and knees is respectful for women. Urination and defecation on the side of the road is common. Men work bare knee and shoulders. It all depends on so many cultural and social factors. Out and out nude is generally in the back country, which is remote and vast.

All is not lost in Japan, if you recall my posting about the instructions for bathing at a hot spring resort (or a hotel with a communal bath, I'm still not sure which):

I understand about the traditional communal bath, but what about what we consider a nude beach or other CO facility.

Do these exist in Asian countries?

It'd be great if something like this can happen in Brisbane.  :)

Enabling more everyday nude activities would be great. I believe there is a town in France that is like that.

Duane, if you're thinking of Cap d'Agde, keep looking. It had an initial period when it was indeed a nudist town, but then the commercial operators started to ratchet up the level of erotica they were selling, and the swingers became more and more dominant. A few years ago there were even arson attacks against some of the sex-oriented businesses, but it was (leaving aside the moral issues) just shoveling against the tide. Now most people interested in a non-sexual experience go elsewhere.

Ahh! That's the place.
Too bad that sex traders consistently spoil the pot for others.

There are resorts like Euronat with all the shops and restaurants you could need all of which you can use naked (as I do every year I go) and which also has a year round resident population.

I 1st saw the article about this back in April of 2016.The Bunyadi restaurant was apparently a pop-up venture with some racy advertising to gin-up some interest.

Bob posted a follow-up about 2 months later. When it was really popular.

Well, it seems to have made an impression on the people involved in putting it together. As of October of last year they were planning to open a permanent site. They are asking for people to sign up and put some cash in the kitty. If it’s such a great idea why are they unwilling to use their own money or credit? Hmmmm!

At any rate there are plans to make it permanent. This article was from last year and I can’t seem to locate any current news. At the end of the article there was link to another article about naked night at London Bars.

Even in Las Vegas, the bars are not allowed to serve alcohol if there is nudity on the premises. I wonder what the rules are in London.

I suspect there are no rules about it. When our licensing laws were written the idea that people might go naked just never entered anyone's head, and changing the rules is so complex that if it's ever arisen nothing's been done. I understand that in the US it's normal for local ordinances to be enacted by town councils in quick reaction to individual events, which explains why you can often have very specific, directed laws over there; ours are enacted centrally and more generalised, with little scope for bye-laws to alter things.

The law against serving alcohol and nudity in the same venue here has to do with the legal brothels in Nevada. There are 2 or 3 counties in Nevada where legalized prostitution is outlawed. My county is one of them. It is a gesture to the gaming industry that that unwholesome practice is not visible to the tourist. :-\

Which isn’t to say that that doesn’t happen here.

I remember reading a few years ago that California was trying to outlaw night clubs which featured nude dancers.  Their draft law prohibited employees of any bar or restaurant from appearing naked.  Some nudist groups objected, saying that the law would force the servers at their nudist resorts to put on clothing in front of naked customers.   The CA legislature added an exception to the law for establishments saying that the staff could be naked where customers were usually naked.

That was probably 30 years or so ago.  I don't know if it is still the law in California.  Politicians get way too up tight about nudity in night clubs and other places.  Back in the 1960s I went with a friend to some bars in San Francisco where the dancers and servers were completely naked.

Dancers, athletes, and other performers really should all be naked so those who watch can see their bodies move.   Hiding performers while they perform is just nuts.

Does London, or the rest of UK, have laws about naked dancers at night clubs, etc?

There may be concerns of liability by clubs if people get drunk and out of hand in a nude environment. And considering the way most people feel about nudity, that might be creating a lack of clarity under the law. In an otherwise normal situation a drunk would either be kicked out or arrested for assault.

Take away the clothes and people get confused. It's frustrating.

Most people do not have a lot of experience being naked.

What goes on in bars is not just mere nudity, it is lewd behavior, the definition of lewd being suggestive dancing and genital flashing. They changed it to link it to liquor licensing for enforcement and to distinguish it. I don't know how the naturist resorts in Arizona comply with the law.
