Public Promotion of Nudism/Naturism.
« on: September 13, 2016, 08:26:23 PM »
I saw this article from N about a public promotion nudist booth at a Festival of Humanity.

This is a great idea.  Get out naked and promote freedom to be naked.   I would love to join others doing it.

The announcement may seem Madness: naturists participate in the celebration of humanity, held last weekend in La Courneuve.

I looked up where "La Courneuve" is.

Naturism right in the center of Paris!

Naked in Paris sounds good to me.  More power to them.

A nudist booth at all sorts of street fairs and so forth would be good everywhere.  In the US, getting naked at a booth promoting nudism would be "free speech," and thus behavior protected from local anti-naked laws.

This is cool, 600,000 seeing naturism!

Jerome Jolibois has been doing what they call militant naturism for quite a while in Brussels and other locales. He has a few places to go to eat, dance, hang out, etc nude where he lives, very urban freerange and an activist. He hands out leaflets nude at gatherings and has been on French TV in a positive manner. This must feel like quite a coup for him. Here is the TV show. His part is more near the end. It’s too bad that the subtitles disappear somewhere on the Ilse D’Levante. The reporter becomes more and more a naturist as the show progresses. I’d like to know what she expounding and so is excited about, toward the end. Warning pixelated genitals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ4NAoHqODk

Back to the article, I wonder what the communist party activists thought about being upstaged by the nudists. I wonder what how the word militant translates. It says merely an activist on google translate.

I like what they are doing with the bodypainting. It encourages others to participate. Perhaps they should sell food, too. Naked Lunch or something to get them in the door; give people an excuse to be seen with them, show integration, etc.

Here in Arizona, any political statement or protest may be made with nudity, but there may be no protest activities that are in support of nudity to be done in the nude. There is no tolerance for being nude in public for any reason, so protesting could be an excuse to do just that. It would cease to be protest and become civil disobedience, which is breaking the law. We would have to cover our genitals, not bend over and women wear some kind of pasty at a bare minimum, which would kinda mess up the whole point.

La Sablière looks to be a good spot for a visit. Though as discussed elsewhere here boredom might be an issue. I guess the reporter couldn't cover all the activities available.

So much for Cap D'Agde! It's a swingers hangout now. I had wondered once what it would be like staying in a town where clothes were totally optional. I wouldn't want to be in a place like that.

Shortly after the arrival at Ile du Levant the subtitles disappear and it's all visual. Unfortunately I can't understand what's being discussed. If the island is the origin of naturism, why are there areas where nudity is prohibited? I guess I missed it if it was explained.

Jerome Jolibois certainly displays a level of confidence I find remarkable. The reporter jumps in with relish at the opportunity to hand out leaflets in downtown while naked.

As Jbee observed, it would be nice to hear the conversation. All you have is facial expression and body language which can sometimes be misleading.

The two non-nude areas are the port area (where ferry boats carrying textiles who might be offended put in) and the town square.
In both cases the prohibition has been widely flouted without any action being taken and there is pressure to have the prohibitions lifted.

On my visit there I walked across the port naked several times and usually used one of these two garments in the town square.

FFN and APNEL had a stand at the Festival of Humanity in the middle of Paris and manned it totally naked with tremendous publicity results.
This link (in French I'm afraid) has plenty of pictures and video:

Jbee, good one!

A lot of good ideas put into a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. A good way to plant seeds in brains for germination.

JOhn, I dropped the link into Google Translate as suggested by JohnP and to get the translated text. It worked!

This youtube video shows a company in the UK attempting to motivate the employees into thinking and trying new ways of improving teamwork. Apparently it was a TV show there awhile back.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4XAJt2lfq0

If this was a one off event, it might have a problem rising above the titillation factor. We don’t see the full effects of the presentation. Some show up fully dressed and then disrobe while some only partially undress. Why do some people wear shoes when naked or even partially naked. The one lady wears her underwear and high heel shoes. It looks odd.

Others show up already naked. All seem to be preoccupied with covering their genitals. I’m not sure from what. The camera, each other or simply out of being in an awkward situation. Maybe the intent was to get the group to focus on a problem distracting everyone as a means of getting them to work on a common problem.

The owner of the company is interviewed here:
Then a follow-up article 4 yrs. later here:

Will casual Friday become casual nude Friday or just nude Friday? This purports to be a team building exercise. Not sure that was the ultimate intent. This is not naturism but it does promote some of the ideas we frequently talk about. Discarding the clothes along with all the baggage associated with them.

Does it disrupt the routine at the office. Yes initially. But probably only because it is such a drastic departure from the norm. For our friends in the UK maybe they could enlighten us on whether any of the shows had clients of customers walking into the office. It would be interesting to see
if the level of professionalism is lost because of the naked distractions.

I also wonder if the decision to put it on TV was a marketing ploy? The 1st article is 7 yrs. old so I wonder how things are going today? Are they still having “naked Friday”?

The discussion, debate over on age 3 and 4 of "Naturist Links"  should be here, but well, that's topic drift for ya.

Have you seen the latest edition of National Geographic Magazine? It's cover is off several young people in nature with their tops off. That's a pretty good message. http://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2016/10/unplugging-the-selfie-generation-national-parks/

Yep, I saw that.

The article is about getting the gadget obsessed younger generations out off their duff and into nature. Specifically the National Park system.

Anywhere outside is preferable to staring at a computer screen.
. . . . oops! Gotta go!  ;D

A couple of their photos promote naked in the national parks.  The "@getyourassintonature photo had a dozen or so naked young men and women.  That's a good promotion of free range naked.

I had not heard of getyourassintonature until I read this article.

So I Googled it and there is quite a bit of information about it.

Apparently the man Aidan Weltner has his own website and was at one time on Instagram until they shut him down without explanation see here, the Instagram event is at the end of the article.

You will notice that it is on Tumblr. I am aware that some here do not like that site, but I have no reliable experience with them as I don't spend a lot of time perusing websites for pictures. It appears that all the photos I saw were either by the author or submitted to him by others engaging in his getyourassintonature adventure. Yes, most of the photos are of young and healthy people, but that happens to be the group he is targeting. Not all are nubile young ladies, there are a couple of pictures that indicate I would be physically comfortable in the group but probably not chronologically compatible.

If visiting a Tumblr site annoys you he has his own site, here. Read the page he has by clicking on the label "Check out the attn: article on get your ass into nature" and much of what he says is similar to what we discuss here all the time. It's by a young person focused on and intended for young people. We have mentioned here and I have read on other sites of the trend that young people don't seem to be interested in naturism or nudity in particular.

At least he is addressing the issue of getting young people up and out into nature with the motivation that if they try it with no clothes on it will be a memorable experience.

If it works all the better.

Bob mentioned the photo posted by Aidan Weltner. I didn't remember seeing it in the magazine so I checked and it wasn't included in the article. National Geographic has always had the reputation of  showing people in other cultures as they are, even if there are topless women or even nudity. It is curious that they didn't include the getyourassintonature photo of all those young people running across a slope in Yellowstone. A perfectly innocent photo of kids enjoying the freedom of running naked through nature without all the reminders of the cultural baggage. Not a single one of them was shown frontal. Puzzling!

At least it was included in the online article.

I wasn't sure if this was Nudes In The News, Nudity In Art or here in Public Promotion of Nudity. I guess it would advocate nudity if that was your excuse for not voting.  ???

I've heard the name Katy Perry but know little about her. I think she's a singer. And I'm not sure what nudity has to do with voting, but here it is:

http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/94cd43b56f/katy-perry-votes-naked?_cc=__d___&_ccid=37277368-bfe8-4d79-aa34-1a738765fa7d

Too bad the censors had to put their stamp on it. Voting naked would certainly be interesting.
