Sitting next to John and across from Ralph on German Rail ICE 107 heading down through Germany from London in route to a couple days layover in Lucern Switzerland. Final destination being NEWT 2017. Past three days spent in NW Wales with our good friends Chris and Penny enjoying the finest of nudity that Wales has to offer. Summited Snowdon on the first day including some nude trail time on the way back down to our trail head, a full day of nude trekking up in the hills the second day, and a glorious morning of nude running for three or four miles on the beach in Anglesey capped by a couple of bracing skinny dips in the Atlantic. We hope to find some more nude time in the mountains down lake from Lucern tomorrow. Of course we could have just flown from London to Munich but where's the adventure in that? With Seat 61 blog as our guide, John has expertly crafted us a magnifent train adventure through the Swiss Alps and into Austria over the next couple of days. More nude adventure awaits. We may see a few of you  on Saturday.

I'm here in the dining room at the house in Muhltal, Austria, and naked people are making dinner while I drink beer. Internet service here is awful, and I hope it'll last till I get this written! We've had three strenuous hikes, and there is a heat wave going on, so there have been casualties from fatigue and sunstroke. Maybe another beer would help keep up my strength. I can't post pictures from my little toy computer, but I am taking quite a lot for later sharing. I'm nothing like Lim from Singapore, who says "I'm Asian, so I have to keep taking selfies"! We actually have 11 nations represented, but Englsih is the main language. I'll sign off now in order to get this delivered.

By the way, I am encouraging everyone here to join Freerangenaturism! It would be nice if a few do.

And I can't give messages to Richard Foley (founder of NEWT walks) because he isn't here this year. Pascal and Clarisse from France are leading the event.

I hope you were joking about the BEER. It would be good for energy except for the alcohol, but lousy for hydration. BEER with a water back, eh!

No, you wouldn't think of heatstroke, but I suppose temps have been in the high 80s, and we've been tramping up alps with not much shade, through mountain pasture most of the way up. I don't know the height of the house, but yesterday's walk was from 1110 meters to 2450, a 1310m climb. Today people demanded a rest, and there were two offerings: I did the easy one, only 520m climb. We made it, but then we had to come down through a thunderstorm. But before that, there were two skinny dips, so you can't call it a bad day! And a nice little cafe at the bottom offered Alpine beverages.

Dang, that's a lot of uphill! I'm feeling burn reading it.

What did people do with the thunderstorm? Umbrella, waterproof apparel, grit and bear it? What was the practical popular fashion?

DF and I spent three days in the White Mountains, just over 9000ft./2800m, dodging rain. We just sought shelter for it, arranging our errant wanderings by the threat. Was lightning a threat, or danger? Those big immediate cracks can make me jump.

I think everyone had a coat of some kind; a few people had complete rain suits. A French couple had an umbrella each.

Today was an easy day, as we went up on a ski lift rather than climbing the mountain on our own feet! But the ease of getting up there meant that lots of people were doing the same. We even passed a children's group, with the kids looking uncertain and some of them giggling. But here it seems to be legal to be naked even if some people evidently don't like it, once you get away from villages.

That’s some impressive uphill walking, John. A good cardio workout.

Once in Scouts we were backpacking the West Rim in Zion. Generally you get a permit to hike and they assign you a spot to camp. It’s all primitive campsites in the backcountry. If you make it great, if not it’s ok to pitch out on the trail where necessary.

The 1st night we were hiking in a thunderstorm at 9:00 pm at 7200 ft. with thunder and lightening as a sideshow. With no separation between the sight of the strikes and sound of the thunder we had some very anxious scouts on our hands.

Pouring rain, pitch dark in between the lightening and walking with head lamps.
Fun times!

Was it pleasant enough to walk without rain protection?

Thank you for the reminder, Duane. We've now been home for over a week, and I have to admit that I've delayed getting anything posted because I simply have so many pictures to go through--I think the count is 979. But I've started a thread under Trip Reports, and I'll post episodes every few days until we get through the whole excursion. Yes, I'll be a little selective about the pictures!
