I don't get to the highlands themselves all that often, although in 2012, I did go skinnydipping in Loch an Eilean. I'm more likely to be found on Fife's Lomond Hills.

I've heard that Marmite may have a similar effect. I eat plenty of garlic and Marmite (not together, that would be wrong!), and I'm usually bothered by beasties, much, although poor wifey generally fares worse, something to do with hormones or pheromones, maybe?

Hi Stuart,
That'd be Kinshaldy / Tentsmuir, but I've also used the very northern tip of the west sands in Standy's, Cambo sands, a wee beach between St Monans & Elie, Elie itself, just down from the Lady's Tower, the stretch of beach between Elie & Largo and at Silverburn, just outside Leven.

I use a Canon EOS 1100D, for best, a wee Canon Power Shot, for in the pocket and my phone for when I've forgotten the others!

Hi Bob,

I've not got any tattoos, but I do have seven piercings, three in my ear, both nipples and two in my navel.
jbeegoode mentions jewellery getting hot. I've been in saunas without any discomfort.

I would agree with Carla, that although midges are annoying, cleggs are nasty, vicious beasts.
Whereas midges pierce the skin with thier feeding proboscis, cleggs actually chew a lump of flesh out. At least with cleggs, you can feel their prescence before they do too much damage, but with midges, you don't know they've been until it's too late.
Another nasty is ticks, either sheep ticks or deer ticks which can give you Lyme disease, which is potentially fatal.

I tend to be in the 'not bother covering up' camp, and have never, so far, had any problems or complaints.
Some may say that the other people were too embarrassed to say anything or complain, but in my experience, they only ever smile, or give a friendly comment.

The annual WNBR events are becoming more & more popular.
Attempts in Scotland have so far not really taken off, as authorities have so far banned full public nudity.
It would be nice to be able to this here, either in Glasgow, Edinburgh or a rural ride here in Fife.

Yes Georgew, the law in Scotland is very grey area. There are no laws specifically banning public nudity, but it is covered by the catch all public order laws.
If you are naked, whether in a public place or not, and can be seen by anyone else, and they complain to the police, the police would be obliged to investigate.
It would be down to the individual investigating officer, how they dealt with any situation, but if the officer asked you to desist in the "offending" behaviour, ie 'cover up', one should comply before any other action, as one may be arrested for Breach of the Peace, specifically, "for refusing to desist".
If it actually gets as far as court, which again depends on local policy,  a sherrif may throw a case out as no case to answer, depending on the circumstances and situation.
I've never (yet!!!) been in that situation, but you do read about it in the press.

Hi Stuart & Carla, so glad to rediscover you!
Hi everyone else, I'm Skin, a quite 'in-your-face', shameless, naturist from Fife, in east central Scotland.
I have been consciously naturist since my mid teens, and try to be nude as often as a situation permits, mainly my back garden, the hills and beaches of Fife or where ever else I may be.
