Inspired by World Naked Gardening Day, I planted peas, onions, carrots, beans, and radishes in the terraced garden area
And now, Ken, after that idealistic impulse you gotta weed 'em and water 'em and spray stuff on and look after 'em and harvest and clean 'em and cook 'em and so on ...all year!  I get backache just thinking about it!! :D  You will have concluded I am not a gardening enthusiast by inclination :) :)

John
In my garden I gotta weed (sneaky grass),water is taken care of by a drip system daily and saves precious water. Spray stuff!  Nah, totally organic. I pour some probiotics nutrient concoction on maybe once a month. My organic compost soil treatment comes once a year before a major planting. Gotta love 'em, look after 'em, talk to them as you ask for leaves as you eat 'em. Eating garden, goode, yum. A quick rinse and I'm eating. Cook 'em!?! I eat raw at every opportunity. Gotta do the same with store bought produce, and it tastes better, and is much much more nutritious fresh , not several days on a truck. Barefoot all over is the best way to connect to the nature of a garden.

Jbee,

With thy gentle yet smooth-bladed reproof, at my heart's depth, flung was a barbed arrow, invoking remorseful quotings that in paraphrasing relevant, of the Bard of Avon, his words I thus spake :  My charity is outrage, life my shame; And in that shame still live my sorrow's rage! And therefore, goode sir Goode, for the time, I study Virtue, and that part of thy philosophy will I apply that treats of happiness by garden's virtue specially to be achieved.

Good ole Al Wolfsen.   He recommended barefoot in the lawn on a dewy morning,   said we connect with the earths electrical field and it energizes us.   He also recommended nude sunbathing.        (He was a practitioner of natural healing,  ran a sanitarium for some years in the 50's,  then got expelled from that (by some who saw him as their competitor and he was winning by curing people who they'd sent home to die)    So he built a sailboat and sailed the south seas treating islanders.
So doing garden work nude gets both in at one time.

So I'm finally going at the land clearing up there where my naked gardens will be.    half a day got a lot done.   But todays 3/4 gone and I haven't got back up there.   Had to get some diesel and hyd oil for the machine,    and then some delays.  -----------------------------------------------------------------
Finally got back up there for a little naked work time on the track hoe.   ripping out trees, stacking them in a pile (to be sorted out and cut up later) sorting rocks and boulders out of the dirt.   It's an extremely rocky area,  but the soil between the rocks is excellent and not too much slope to it.    The wood will get cut up eventually and dried in a wood shed, then turned into biochar to go back in the soil.   If I can take the time to do it eventually I could build something out of the rock. Perhaps a place to lounge,   picnic,    rest in hot weather and a fireplace for warmth when it's chilly.     The area was cleared by manual methods long ago (1800's probably)  and the small rocks from the surface piled.      Soon as I have enough of it cleaned up I can put in water pipes and faucets and have me a big tub to fall into when I get too hot.  It's not far below our main spring.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
I got some oxygen too,  and some welding rods.   So I can breathe better and then make some fumes?     The oxygen is for the cuttin torch.   Looking at possibly finishing this boiler I started some years ago.  connect it to the old steam engine i got from PA last fall.  (ebay)     Plan is to put it on a truck and use it to run generator for electric chain saw,  hydraulic pump for log splitter,  etc.   diverting a few sticks to chuck in the boiler to keep it going.   Along with rain water.   (our spring water is high calcium,  it would clog a boiler with deposits, so I'll have to catch rain water from a roof to run it on.) Ideal machine to run in the nude so I can get burnt with cinders from the chimney and endure the heat from the boiler.  Actually if cinders fly I'll have to screen it so it doesn't start fires around it in dry conditions.    They had problems with the early locomotives starting fires along the track before they screened the stack.

sounds like an interesting project.
in the uk all steam engines have to have regular boiler inspections and pressure tests, which effectivly rules them out except for the wealthy keeping and old steamer as a toy, its actually amazing how many preserved old steam vehicles, mainly lorries, road rollers or agricultural engines that there are preserved in private hands.  but they only come out for a few shows probably none actually run regular to do a job of work.
the exception to that of course is the preserved railway locos, some of which run services over private lines as tourist attractions.

In my world I can do anything I want as long as I keep it home.    If it goes out to a public meet it has to be inspected and approved.    But I believe in being super safe.   It'll be built right (preheat welding and then stress relief baked) and then pressure tested yearly. (simple as swapping the relief valve for a plug and pumping the boiler up to test pressure with the feed pump while it's cold)  And I like to build them to take several times the operating pressure and then have double relief system.   The normal relief valve and then a soft plug that will blow if the relief valve fails for any reason.   I've seen too many pictures and videos of boiler explosions to take any chances.     I can make it all with not a whole lot of money input,   although if I added up everything I've put into equipment and supplies over many years it might add up to a decent amount.   And then it will run on very little.   Just a little lube oil,  rain water and wood,  which is the part I like.

Spent the day running the track hoe clearing my future naked gardening site,   got quite a bit done,  even dug a water line ditch down to it from the spring up the hill from it.  I've got a whole lot of wood to work on now.   Other than all the small trees I'm ripping out I cut some larger ones and added them to the pile.  One a big triple trunk buckeye.  It's very soft wood,  only thing it's used for is paper pulp.   But it'll make good charcoal for biochar.      The yeller jackets are making their nests above ground.  Ran into two nests a few ft up in trees.   one got me when I was off the machine but it wasn't serious.     I'm fairly safe up the the cab even with the door and front widow open.  That's a slight drawback to working naked, slightly greater vulnerability to hazards.   but not enough to not do it.

most of the old steam engines we see are the old firetube ones which i gather are the most prone to exploding , the swapping to water tube was aparently less risky. but there seems to be little current modern small scale working steam in the uk.

the alternative of wood gasification to run an internal combustion engine seems to have its own hazzards...

perhaps its something ill look at in more detail next winter.

You can use Windows Paint to crop and/or resize your pictures.
See this link for an explanation http://nakedpublicdares.com/photohelp.htm

Did anyone else notice the site JOhn gave us? Naked Public Dares!. Some interesting photos.

I spotted JOhn in there.  :D
I've never done nudity on a dare. Anyone else done this?

Nobody ever dared me to do something like that, or any other dares. I'm kind of independent and not so into recognition of others, so the dare needs to be something personal within myself. I have found personal challenges and conquering fears will expand a free range and give confidence. There are varying degrees of risk and playing with odds. Sometimes it produces a sense of liberation, sometimes a rush to go where people generally aren't nude. Mostly these short forays are just part of learning a wider stealth range and not having to cover up so often.

I Believe that this kind of behavior where one quickly jumps into a shot is how the Secret Naturist Society got its start with lookee.

There is a trap inherent for some of the participants in this dares site. Accepting that the behavior is outrageous, extraordinary, or crazy, or even naughty and rebellious, accepts that clothing is a norm. I tend to see these social and legal parameters as an injustice and therefore I feel liberated and less oppressed when expanding my range.

Then there's the matter of guts. Doing things requiring guts is necessary to expanding, to changing, making life richer and embracing freedom. These dares, I suppose could be treated that way and a rush, but there are many other ways to use guts and be alive and perhaps even producing change in others, in life. Nudity is just one way, WNBR an example of being naked daring.

Jung would be integrating the hero archetype, into this.

Being a free ranging naturist will require people to "take the plunge" "throw ones balls over ones shoulder and just go" "leaps of faith." Individuation in life, transitioning into adulthood, generally requires these things.

In the eighties, I would talk friends into walking my tract house neighborhood nude, each year on a warm summers night. Sometimes it took alcohol and even drugs to get participation in this stealth and daring crazy smuggling a nude body event. Some just needed, a justification, a challenge, an excuse. Some liked it, some ended up scared as they had ever been. Some feeling stupid to have put themselves into that position of risk in consideration of what the law might think, immediately assuming some perv had been caught. The risk in 1980 could be very high, not just brushed off as streaking, by a local cop, if happened upon. The idea was to be stimulated to as much of a sense of being alive as possible.

For some it was a warrior's behavior, as an alert challenge. I was taught in Boy Scouts how a native warrior will be aware with each step, careful how it sounds, alert, moving bravely, prepared to meet a challenge or opportunity. Each step careful to not disturb the wildlife , or leave tracks in moccasins. That was good training for a free range naturist. Still, it is nice to have a safe liberated place, that's also a part of the naturism. Getting there requires challenges, or personal dares. Even a newbie at a naturist resort must overcome challenges and find that the shadow is acceptance of oneself.

My nude garden is mostly up and growing nicely – tomatoes, peppers, beans, carrots, and peas.  Only the onions are absent so far.  It’s such a pleasure to water the plants au natural!  (That’s something about which I’ve always dreamed.)  Then I freehike the trails and meditate.  This has become an almost daily routine.  Love life being a natural gardener near Prescott, Arizona!

Despite my previous jocularity about your gardening, Ken, it sounds like you've created a garden of plenty, of solitude and of contemplation to be naked in.  So I hope that as the crops begin to burgeon, you get much naked pleasure and much healthy supper!

John

and PS - JBee, a little window into your wild past there in your last post!

Been busy with more naked gardening,  or rather gardening preparation.   Getting the water line buried down to the gardening areas from the spring up the hill from it.    It's in and functional,   ready to cover up.  Only manufactured wear I use for work is the shoe sandals.  The biting flies keep buzzing round me and trying to get in a bite,  horse and deer flies.  I keep chasing them off when they land and manage to work anyway.
