The pig who made the comments is either a liar that is building on the situation for political reasons, or a belligerent ignorant pervert that needs to get smacked for insulting some decent nudists. "The 'only' reason that anyone would get naked in front of another person is for sexual swinging"!!!!!  Go back under your rock....

There was a local commercial pool or gym that has hosted nude evenings for a local non-landed club. Incredibly enough, there was a TV news program that mentioned them, even to include nudity (from the back), even to include children. But that was a few years ago. I have no idea if they are still held.

With all of the recent 'other shoes dropping' and consequences of past indiscretions becoming front page news, it seems to be reaching a fever pitch. With 'aggressors' vanishing and victims proliferating and advocates on both sides foaming at the mouth, it's no longer surprising seeing careers, businesses and private lives offered up on the altar.

It's tough to tell who is the real deal and who is an opportunist. Unfortunately there will be innocent people that pay the penalty. I saw someone that was on one of the talking head shows who, unflinching, stated that, "Yes, some men will be falsely accused and have their lives ruined, but that is the price WE must pay".

I just sat in amazement! Naturally, all of this reminded me,

Foam at the mouth and fall over backwards. Is he foaming at the mouth to fall over backwards or falling over backwards to foam at the mouth. Tonight 'Spectrum' examines the whole question of frothing and falling, coughing and calling, screaming and bawling, walling and stalling, galling and mauling, palling and hauling, trawling and squalling and zalling. Zalling? Is there a word zalling? If there is what does it mean . . . if there isn't what does it mean? Perhaps both. Maybe neither. What do I mean by the word mean? What do I mean by the word word, what do I mean by what do I mean, what do I mean by do, and what do I do by mean? What do I do by do by do and what do I do by wasting your time like this? Goodnight.   - Monty Python

P.S. Why do so many people and things, these days, remind me of Monty Python?

This is a "compliment" received by my YELP reviews of restaurants and hotels.   Someone is very offended by the thought of seeing someone bare foot.  No telling how angry they would be if someone went naked.

Do they shower with shoes on? If so, how do they wash their feet? Do they swim with shoes on?

Such a simplistic view of the world implies a dislike for others, in general. How do you manage to meet anyone if your rules rule out anyone that fails your admission standards?

We did in high school and in the army. Ever heard of shower shoes? When I was going through school, the only social disease ever mentioned was athlete's foot.

I was raised and it was general cultural short shortsightedness to accept this attitude about bare feet. The remark is like a quote from my youth. It kinda went along with white gloves on women, men can wear only three colors of business suit and wear them nearly everywhere to look proper, their best and prosperous. Men must remove their hat indoors, and all that other polite rot from Emily Post and permeating the 50's and early sixties. When hippie kids began to go barefoot, questioning authority, they were considered "a disgrace" lowly, inferior, and of course unsanitary....oh yea, and insolent. It was about freedom, reality, and natural, shaking off the status quo with its plastic boots. We've come a long way baby, but the road is longer still.

Someone must be stuck in their mother's worldview. I can hear them sitting at home in a stiff back Victorian chair, "A skirt that shows the knees! Scandalous! Thighs, an exhibitionist slut, a loose woman." Where do these people and their cats hide away?

Not everyone was like that in the heady, hedonistic period, you know. Some even lived through those years barely aware that any such things were happening, mainly because they didn't happen everywhere. And those that weren't like that are running things today.

I know.

Remember when Jimmy Carter had his photo taken with his bare feet propped up on the White House furniture? "Oh, look at the ignorant hillbilly," they said.

I remember walking into the student union building at Texas Tech where they had a TV on with all sorts of programming, I presume purchased through the university. This was in the days before cable tv was widely available. You could watch a documentary about Lenny Bruce, amazing stuff, or wait awhile and sit through episodes of The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Slapstick cartoons for the kids and political and cultural satire for the parents. I think Dr. Suess would qualify there also.

I do remember that when Carter became president, there was a cartoon of an old pickup truck sitting on the White House lawn with no wheels and tire swing on one of the trees. The South done rose again!
