The Blue Train Rover has arrived
« on: February 28, 2018, 09:02:42 PM »
That's the first time I've made an introduction quite like that. But it is a way of explaining the user name (BlueTrain) that I used everywhere, just in case you've seen it before. You English chaps may catch the meaning, maybe not, seeing as how Rover cars haven't been around for a few decades. Well, anyway, the "Blue Train Rover" was a light six that beat the Blue Train to the South of France (the English Riviera, I guess) way back a long time ago and they used it in advertising. I had two Rover sedans and even a Land-Rover, also way back a long time ago.

I don't remember how I discovered this forum but it may have been when search for a now-defunct forum on nude hiking, my chief interest and activity with outside nudity. I haven't managed to do much lately but I'm retiring in a few weeks, so, wife permitting, I may catch up on my outings, right after I finish the list of chores and projects that she's already created.

I live in Northern Virginia and do most of my nude hiking somewhere in the Blue Ridge about 75 miles or more from home. Seventy-five miles seems like a long ways to go these days. I have visited a club but I'm not so much into swimming or the social scene, still preferring the trail.

I also like the wide range of topics and carefree attitude captured by the forum name. I'm not sure I'll have that much to contribute any time soon and I've learned not to be too free with my opinions. But it's nice to be here.

It's nice to have you here, Blue train!
Hope you find us a fun bunch.  Quite a few of us are retired gents like yourself and all enjoy naked hiking.
Have a browse round and do, do contribute freely.  Lots of topics diverge off into discussions and we like to hear from people in the course of the conversation.  Some of us have been chatting for years and some for just minutes but we hope you will enjoy being here!

Yes, where have our paths crossed before?

I must tell you, though, that when I was active on a certain nude hiking forum, which I think was a yahoo group, I exchanged lots of private e-mails with someone in Utah, all of which were very interesting. That must have been over ten years ago. Likewise, I also corresponded with someone else who turned out to be living and working somewhere around here and we had lunch together one day. Then the earth swallowed him up, too. I think he moved away.

There also used to be a nude hiking forum that was really good as forums go but it, too, has disappeared, probably because the host who owned the board left the internet or something. My impression is that although we think that everything is on the internet forever (and that everything is on the internet, period), that isn't so. It's more like, here today, gone tomorrow.

Bluetrain and I were both members of the old "Hikingnaked" forum that went by the wayside as the owner had a series of medical issues which then led to finance problems. We both grew up in the mountains of  West Virginia, although opposite ends of the state. He will be a good addition here.

I grew up ten miles from the southern tip of the state and went to school ten miles from Pennsylvania.

Thanks for the recommendation. Now I'm worried.

That's a name I've seen on a couple other forums. I'm assuming there's only the one!  :D

Always posting interesting replies.

Welcome.

I expect it was me. I do try to be consistent with what I say, even though I haven't had much new to say for a while.

A funny thing about forums is how they somehow manage to develop their own personalities, in a manner of speaking, even when the stated subject is the same, even with an overlap in membership.
