The gay lib movement pretty much started with a riot in response to police intolerance and betrayal of equal justice. I'm imagining a similar nude riot. HA!

Actually a group did something similar a bit less that 10 years ago. It wasn’t a nude protest but the government went on a strange censorship spree banning things like face sitting kinks. A bunch of kinksters gathered outside parliament sitting on each other’s faces

The London WNBR certainly passes in sight of Parliament; it also goes down Whitehall, where all the government offices are based, and past the entrance to Downing Street. It also passes close to Buckingham Palace - I’ve never seen any comment on the event from HM, but I’m sure in Prince Phillip ever witnessed the peloton passing by he would have had an apt turn of phrase!

That sounds like a wonderful way for a tourist to see the sights in London. Would the guards at the gate continue to stand still?

I take it that the ride takes place on a weekend when the government is mostly closed?

I'd suppose that heading up the U.S. capital steps in a large nude group would seem pretty tame and more easy to acceptable after that day of "hang 'em all. D.C. It is illegal to expose your genitals or anus in an "indecent manner in Washington D.C., but what is the definition of "indecent." It is something apart from "lewd" which is illegal, Too.

Can WNBR be done in D.C.?

I was in the presence of one of Prince Philip's witticisms once back in the 1970s!
I was in a small crowd that had gathered in a private location that was hosting lunch for some event that the Queen and Prince Philip were attending.  The royal party and retinue of 20 or 30 people approached down a long gravel path with around 50-100 observers lined behind a rope barrier about 10 or 20 yards separated.  The gentleman standing next to me with his family was taking pictures with an SLR camera with a telephoto lens. Suddenly the prince veered off from the procession and bounded over to the photographer.  "Good morning," said the Duke to the man, "you must be an American.  Are you?"
"Why yes," said the man, completely nonplussed by this piece of royal clairvoyance "How ever did you know that, your royal highness?" he asked evidently quite overawed by the Prince's erudition.
"Oh, it was easy," said Philip, "I could tell by the size of your camera!"  and after a short stunned silence all in the vicinity laughed politely in response to this leaden joke. 
There followed actually a short conversation between the two men about f. stops and focal lengths which indicated that the royal had a fair knowledge of photography.  This interruption to the progress to lunch had stopped the royal party including the Queen and after a minute or two she also broke off from the procession and took a few steps towards us and in a distinctly irritated 'stage whisper' voice hissed at her husband "Philip!  Do come on. You are keeping everyone waiting!"   The Prince instantly complied apologising briefly to his interlocutor for the curtailment of their discussion as he turned and disappeared with her majesty through an archway!

In that latest issue of “N” magazine (40.4 summer 2021), there is an article in the N-sight section “Public Nudity as Carnival.”

 It brings up a question and attempts to answer it. Why there is tolerance for nude events like WNBR or Monte Gras, but the next day, a single individual could be arrested for even discretely being nude?

One of a few answers is that these events, going back clear into medieval times, were a sort of cap and place for a social something to let out steam. Sort of like football letting certain primitive tribal parts of humanity get out in a socially acceptable manner.

The acceptance actually puts the behaviors and the nudity in a box, in its place, and the message that it isn’t okay the rest of the time is reinforced. It is sort of like placing nudity in a pen and under control.

It is however, also to be considered a beachhead. It brings nudity to light. It shows it as okay and harmless and good clean fun to others that might not be exposed to nudity, as just that. It gives people a chance to practice nudity in more public areas, who wouldn’t have an outlet otherwise. It helps the concept and acceptance of free range nudity to grow into the more general society. It educates.

This nudity in a carnival situation and the idea of free beaches seem to go hand in hand and equally are tools towards an end.

Are we making a step going anywhere? It is good this far is managed, but it is contained, and why is it but that nudity in public is unsafe... to others. This mindset remaining is something we really need to get people past, to get anywhere further with nudity being legal in public any further than this very limited bit, in a few places for a limited time.

Can't see it happening to be honest...

Too many people in these unenlightened times have too many issues with sexuality and body consciousness.

It's no further on than events like Woodstock in the 60s and even concerts at bands like the Doors..

21st century humans have lost the plot!

The stats tell us that a very clear majority are generally on board and the negative foolishness is a minority. We are victims of a foolish vocal minority and some of those will never change, but minority none the less. We just need to get the rest of us equally and further enlightened. Queer was a negative not long ago, black was flat out supposed to be a bum thing to be and both put in "their place." We should not be put in our place and by "we" I mean the whole of humanity.

It depends on where you hang out, I'd suppose. I see a big change from the 60's, myself, but the stats, polls, etc. are not lying, or misleading.
