Naked At Home -- Guests and Visitors.

the last time there was any type of solicitation at our front door was the last election cycle.

Interestingly, we have just come through a hard fought General Election, despite which I had not a single call from any political canvassers. I have to admit I was rather disappointed, as it could have led to some interesting discussions!

Today I have tradesman working on replacing the rendering on my neighbour's house, and they have already discovered my preference for being without clothes - especially as we are promised the warmest day of the year so far today . . . .

Good for you, Keith.  The more often people have an opportunity to see naked people going about our normal daily business, the more common and acceptable it becomes.

Here, many municipal codes define offensive as "nudity visible to the public". Is there a similar code there or have any of these casual viewers ever taken action?

In most of the US and many other places the law only prohibits nudity when there is behavior and intent to cause someone to be affronted or alarmed.  Jumping out from a bush naked or waving your arms in the middle of a road would be prohibited behavior.  Minding your own business while naked is not prohibited by code in most places.  Your local code may be more restrictive.

The other part is that people who occasionally see naked humans going about their own business very rapidly become used to seeing naked human beings.  No harm comes to them from the experience so its no longer is worth bothering about.

A very stiff minority would be the abnormal group, so why are there laws to protect people from nudity, if the vast majority actually likes the idea?

I think, JBee, the acceptance has more to do with who is present than actually being against the idea. It is like the fisherman who says he never takes less than two baptists fishing with him. They won't drink in front of one another but just one will drink most of his beer.

That is why Jehovah's Witnesses and Mormon Elders visit in twos. One keeps the other in check and they are less apt to be swayed to new ideas by the visitee that way. I would think that if solicitor's came two by two to Keith's door the percentage would be reversed.

Guests?  We're hermits. We aren't home very often actually, having a few vagabond touch down spaces.   Occasionally adult children will come by and politely announce their intent.  Seeing a naked parent seems to be awkward for them.

Our Fed-Ex driver has been leaving our packages down at the county road behind our trash bin (in a plastic bag).   This week he was delivering at the Uni where my wife works and told her that he quit coming to our door because I met him naked to accept a package a few months ago.   The US Mail lady won't come to our door either.  If a mailed package won't fit in our mailbox (down on the road) she leaves a note for us to pick up at the post office in town. 

OMG!  There is a naked man at that house.  RUN!

Maybe it's not fear of the naked man, but fear for the loss of job. A supervisor would take the cautious route and advise to not hang out with people while they are naked for fear of sexual harassment fantasies. Or, one might take it as a possibility of a sexual predator, and to avoid ANY potential of an incident report on their watch, advise to stay clear. A naked person is mostly unusual and misunderstood. To err on the side of caution is often a quite stupid, or unjust decision.

Or, maybe they are just that hung up and weird, like you say, laughable.

Can a mail carrier choose to not deliver the mail?

Last night I received a post on my Facebook page where an older woman dressed in a sexy outfit pressed her life alert button to see the EMT hunks that would arrive. It brought back memories of those days as we had one regular who always greeted us nude plus a few others that were in various states of undress. most of the calls were what we considered "taxi" service. Not serious enough for an ambulance ride but was paid for by insurance. by the way, we eliminated the female regular by sending an all female crew the next few calls.

But back to topic as stated that being guests and visitors. Our recent medical scare prompted visits from both our daughter and sister in law. Now the sister in law knows and has seen us naked in our own home many times. Not that she approves, she just tolerates I assume. Anyway, they both arrived within minutes of each other and I was out doing last minute honey do errands. By the time I arrived home my wife and her sister were talking in the living room and our daughter decided she needed a shower after her trip. When the shower was finished and she had toweled off she heard my voice and came out to greet me. As we hugged the sister in law exclaimed, "N, your naked! How can you let your Dad see you like that?'. To which our daughter answered, "Big deal, not like he hasn't seen me like this before. After all, he did change my diapers!". So by evening both the daughter and I were naked, the wife not wearing much more and the SIL in a full length robe because she was cold.

The next day we got the news from "our" doctors that everything was fine and we no longer have to worry. I think the whole thing made the sister in law upset as she decided to return home early but not after telling the wife she thought we were "perverted". So we got to spend much needed quality time with our daughter as the daily phone calls don't compare to face to face visits. It also helped Mrs. Walker get over her nerves and anxiety from the health scare.

All of which only reinforces my contention that naked people need to be seen more often and in more places until seeing a naked person is not cause for alarm or flight.

I had sent a package to my son not long ago and when tracking was checked it said undeliverable. I guess if it doesn't fit into a mailbox the mailman has the option of leaving a note and having the patron go to the post office.

I have a sign on my 1/4 long driveway that says "Clothing optional". My mail carrier said that this wouldn't bother her but last year she caught me raking leaves in shoes and socks. She calmly got out of her car and handed me the package. She now leaves a note in my mail box rather than coming up to the house. Ups and Fed ex have both caught me outside and they still usually deliver. Sometimes in the winter they leave packages in a plastic bag near the end of the drive but that is probably to avoid getting stuck.

My Tortolita Mailbox is at the base of the mile long drive with numerous others. US Mail will just leave a note to go to the post office, if it is too big.
FedEX got 10 out of 11 deliveries wrong in the neighborhood, to wrong addresses, sheer irresponsibility of the driver.
UPS, the guy is friendly. They all tend to leave the boxes at the door, knock quickly and then run off. This maight be a rural quirk. None have caught me or DF nude.
This morning, a condenser arrived here in the city. He knocked and waited for someone to come to the door.
Anyway, they CAN do that. UPS used to always take it to the door, but I don't know anymore.
