Cheche Marin once asked as well, "Dave's not here?" Tommy Chong was adamant, "Dave's not here."

John P, Are you asking if this is Dave Balead?  It's definitely not.  Unless he's stopped shaving his head and lost about 10-15 years in age!

No man! THIS is Dave.

Love that album! We were just telling our twentysomething daughter about that album the other day.

So, JohnP, who is Dave?

You must seek him in Sherwood Forest, where he lurks and runs about with a merry band of outlaws.

Indeed he does.
Saturday 16th July is his next intended group walk, although he'll no doubt be walking solo before then.
He's on the Naturist Corner and BN websites.
Norman.

Is it legal and acceptable to be naked in Sherwood Forest?
I've heard that there isn't much left of it.

Does he steal clothes from the overdressed and give to the fashionably challenged?

I shall have to go on a quest to find this noble runwayman.  ;D

I've lost ye plotte, guys!

Sherwood, Duane, is still a substantial swathe of forest and never was all woodland.  It is a tourist magnet and the well used parts are being degraded by pressure of visitors.  The term Forest in medieval times and since can refer to a whole area of mixed woodland, heath and other terrain. The legends, stories and films of Robin Hood have led us to believe that the outlaws lived exclusively amongst the trees.  They may have done but there's no evidence.

The Oxford Dic gives:
Forest
Origin:  Middle English (in the sense 'wooded area kept for hunting', also denoting any uncultivated land): via Old French from late Latin forestis (silva), literally '(wood) outside', from Latin foris 'outside'  (see foreign).

In Santa Fe, NM, USA there was an out of the way restaurant on Aqua Fria (Cold water) avenue called "Dave's Not Here."  Good place for burgers and beer, or burrito and beer.   Probably not the same Dave, but that Dave wasn't there either.

Since it isn't strictly illegal to be naked in Jolly Ol' England, then Robin and the merry folks could not have been outlaws for that reason. They must be doing something else to be outlaws. Were those tights just painted on them?

I prefer the movie. I've found it on youtube from time to time. I don't know which Chech and Chong movie that it is by title, so I'd have to watch them all to find out.

Nope,  Dave is here,  occupying my chair.    I'm Dave.   But that's my second legal name that i don't go by on a regular basis.

I watched a whole string of Robin movies,  interesting but pretty much all made up adventures I'm sure.

Norman.
For those who do not know him, David is a naturist based in the Ollerton area of Nottinghamshire. He has established a good working relationship with the manager of a local nature reserve, where he has walked naked for a number of years. It has now got to the point that he just lets her know that he will be naked in the forest and if a member of the public reports seeing a naked man she simply tells them it is a local naturist and nothing to be concerned about.

As Norman has said, he is leading a walk on 16 July for anyone that wants to join him, he has already advised the reserve manager and will also tell the police so that they too can respond sensibly to any reports they receive.

Have fun,

Ian.
