Lovely story and the bed reminds me of the improvised ant trap we made when camping once.
They were invading our small 12 volt fridge so I improvised a water trap using a cardboard tray lined with a polythene sheet standing the fridge on three beer bottles in the water.
The little perishers then used the 12-volt power lead as their access path until I draped that in the water, too.

I don't understand. Why didn't you reach into the fridge, grab another BEER, drink it, and use four bottles? It would be better balance and the BEER wouldn't go to waste! Or was it that if you drank the BEER, the fridge would go to waste? :o

I wonder if wine bottles would suffice? If you remember the ant hill pictures from spring a year ago those little travelers love to climb the 120V lead. By spraying the electric cord, tires and trailer tongue we have been free of invasions.

Hope the harvest goes well. I did see on the news tonite where the southwest USA had monsoon rains and flooding. We have a few quick downpours with flash flooding near here but my yard is like straw! What a difference a few miles makes.

I used empty bottles after disposing of the beer in the proper manner.  ;D ;)

Wow, Jbee!

How much do you charge for a desert excursion in pickin' buds?
I am assuming this is in the late spring? The article didn't say.

It says that it was 06-10-2012. The Saguaros bloom in MAyish. They are buds late MAy, early June-ish. It depends on the year and rains what happens.
