Another trip to Ohio!
« on: July 10, 2017, 03:37:10 PM »
It was a kind of boring trip in a way. Due to the Fourth of July Holiday the campground and surrounding park was full of people which left little or no chance for free range activity. But I did take many walks or hikes just to recon the area for the future. I did find a few pathways that lent themselves for a rainy day later in the week when the crowd had gone and no one was out and about. Sorry, I didn't have my waterproof camera as I didn't take the kayak on this trip but did manage some cell phone captures as Jbee loves this terrain. This particular pathway is shared by a nature walk and a mountain bike path for a short bit (notice the single track in the middle) but the grass is lush and is a  barefoot paradise! And the Black Eyed Susan's were in full bloom!

So back to the naked hike, on Thursday of the week the place had cleaned out a bit and the rain chased everyone else away so I drove back to the nature trail which is just over two miles in length and proceeded to take a walk in the rain.  I don't need to describe the feeling of walking through a gentle shower, barefoot on the grass and letting the warmth just drip off the body. Despite the air temperature being close to 80F with all that humidity the rain kept me nice and comfortable. I even managed to make it to the deserted beach and managed a quick swim just to add to the experience. Anyway, here is a picture of the beach and my apology for posting the trail picture sideways!

Too much water Jbee. The lake was filled to summer level already and they have to hold back on releasing water due to downstream flooding. Also there was a water advisory due to the excess runoff; do not swallow the water, infants and those with compromised immune systems should not be in the water plus the usual algae warnings from the fertilizers. but even though it was not a good trip for any free range activities it did present itself for the future!

We made it back to Ohio for some fun time and outdoor activity. Lucky in the fact that the flooding that hit West Virginia was well south of us as the camper was parked near Lake Erie. As I mentioned last year the pathways were cut wide for what I assumed were for snowmobiles. A ranger told me this trip it is for hikers to avoid high grasses where the tics are found. So once again with the way they cut the foliage I was able to position the camper and tow vehicle in such a way as to bock the view from the road. Also during the week the campground was nearly vacant, most campers staying near to the bathhouses.  In the first picture I'm returning from exploring the area around the camper and as you can see I'm barefoot all over. I'm sorry about the next two pictures, but the beach is from a bird sanctuary and the other is the meadow land around our campsite. There are pathways cut through there which I will post on later updates.

Once again, it seems that I am attracting bird people for encounters. I knew of this place, in fact I think I posted on the old hiking naked site about it once. So being in the area I thought a side trip again would be worth the effort. Upon arrival there was no disappointment as the parking lot was empty. So I did take the running kilt as cover as a walk along the beach was in order. Also if you look near the end of the beach there are trees that block the view so skinny dipping can be done.
The walk east on the beach was a bit problematic as one cannot see anyone entering the beach from behind but I decided to take my chances anyway. Besides the sun shining on my backside felt too good to pass up. It was a bit tricky to maneuver around the trees but on the other side was a pristine beach with no foot prints! By this time the heat of the day had me ready to jump into the lake and cool down. No one to see so I just relaxed in the shallow water and cooled down before the walk back. Now I'm facing the sun but also the only entrance to the beach. I have to be honest that I did keep my eyes peeled just in case someone turned that corner. All the way back to the entrance and the little pathway to the parking lot and emerged to see a car parked next to my vehicle. Since there was only a short distance the woman in the car could see me and I was already busted so to speak so opening the car door I threw my water bottle carrier on the seat and proceeded to pull on the kilt. She emerged from her car with a big grin saying I should have gotten some good shots of birds without scaring them away. Then it was the usual questions about tics, bugs, sunburn and such. I told her I didn't see much in the way of birds and my usual answers to the rest of the questions. We then said goodbye as she took her equipment and headed down the path. Once she was out of sight I dropped the kilt to drive back to camp nude.

A good naked walk, skinny dip and a good encounter that didn’t go south.
Birders, campers, climbers or hikers, at least serious ones, seem to be the best for those chance encounters.

I agree with both of you. It seems that the true outdoor people are the ones that have a better attitude toward nudity. Not that I can speak from experience but I would assume, just from the attitudes in the campgrounds, that those with the least knowledge and biggest pocketbooks would be the ones to raise a fuss!

Absolutely! The only face to face I’ve ever had was a hiker that made a comment about my allover tan without even breaking stride.

As they let things in the park kind of get back to nature they have cut the pathways wider through the meadows. This particular walk led to a fishing pond placed in the midst of the campground. AS I have mentioned before early morning strolls seem to be the best but I do take covering just in case. Once again the weather has provided a soft comfortable grass surface to be able to walk barefoot. I had been questioned a few times about it and have reply that it is more healthy and connects me to the Earth.

For the last part of the journey we stopped at the park I managed to spend hours of naked time the last few years. I made mention of this last year when I was shocked to find these types of pathways which I thought were cut to provide room for snowmobiles. Mostly because of the construction of the bridge and it's approaches. It does seem as much as th path is worn I have never encountered a person along it. Just a few more odds and ends to catch up on and we hope to be back on the road again.

I do not understand why these pictures continue to post sideways when they are upright in the computer. Anyway on the last day there I decided to take some pathways less traveled and search for either good fishing holes  or skinny dipping spots. I started near the beach area which lent itself to a nearly abandoned area for that time of day. I guess the fog and overcast kept most away. Then I mad my way along part of the shoreline on well worn paths but once again no one in sight. A view of the beach area plus one promising place I found.

I often find pictures appearing on the PC as the right way up, but if I open them in a photo editor (I have an old Photoshop) they're on their side. Turn them the right way in the editor, they still look the right way in the directory but now really are the right way up. Odd, but that's technology for you.

Just did a copy/edit/re-upload with one of your pix
