Hi ,been away for a while. Spent the last couple of days at Howsham mill York , walking working and swimming naked, other visitors come and go, some swim naked most dont,others just come to look at the mill or are naturalists. Ive never had a negative comment. I always ask the swimmers if its ok for me to be naked. Tend to cover up when passing close to mill visitors but dont hide the fact that ime naked.

Is this it?

Looks like it’s in a public area. Is it like a park or a heritage site?
Do many people visit it? You were able to swim and be in and out without any issues?
It’s great that so few are bothered let alone offended by an innocent skinny dip.

It says it is generating power from the waterwheel and an Archimedes screw turbine. Are there two separate turbines? I would think there would be with two dissimilar methods of harnessing water power.

Yes you have the right place ,the screw generates power the wheel is part of the old mill . The whole building has recently been rebuilt by English Heritage. I used to come here to practice naturism when it was just a ruin and I haven let the rebuild change my ways . It has always been a local swim spot . Nowadays it is sometimes used for school visits and the like when it gets far too busy for naturism but you would know before walking down to the mill as the car park would be full. Summer weekends can also get busy in the afternoon,except for those times it is generally quiet with maybe a visitor every hour at the most on a nice day . On a hot sunny afternoons groups of teens/ twenties often come to swim. Ive taken to litter picking on the site and helping with the upkeep, I am able to do this naked with just the occasional cover up when required.
