Damn technology. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles we may not be able to hear them coming :-)

Silent vehicles are a hazard for blind people and even a hazard for sighted people who don't hear them coming when crossing streets or roadways.  And that doesn't even count naked people.

I have heard  talk of requiring vehicles to make some kind of noise, but that may never have become required.

Bicycles are too quiet, too, but less injurious than cars.

If they do this, then the vehicles should be required to make the tweedle-tweedle noise that cars made in "The Jetsons"! ;D

In the movies, in the background noises sometimes you would hear car horns honking. But I never hear anyone blowing their horns. It must be considered the ultimate rudeness, although a lot of sign language can sometimes be seen. The sounds of cars in the old radio shows was always interesting, if unrealistic.

Man, it's been ages since I did one of my night walks. In recent years I became a daytime hiker, having found an isolated, forested trail by a major prairie river near an unofficial but well-known nudist beach. Sandy beaches, forest, beautiful meadows, and wildlife -- deer, moose, coyotes, etc.

I do sometimes miss the thrill of being "naked in the night", though, experiences I restricted to isolated highways and roads. Maybe next summer...
I feel my best when naked in the world, especially in wide, open spaces, wherever and whenever possible.

It's great to know where the heck ya been, Nightwalker!!!

I don't know any empty highways around here. I'd have to have coverup, and definitely a full moon and a flashlight (rattlers).

Not done a night walk but in July last year I made a feeble attempt at a nude bike ride one night

Full moon, woods, trail or pavement? You said something about barefoot?

Bikes make things happen fast. It makes it hard to prepare for encounters.

Now, with the laws clear in the UK, I'd think that nude cycling would be popular and fun, especially at night. A motorcycle on a warm night nude would be fabulous...but, then the potential for road rash would make me especially careful where I was riding.

The laws in UK are clear but dare exercise your rights and expect harassment from everywhere as soon as you step out unclothed. Even organised events are subjected to abuse. I did the bike thing after midnight deep in a woodland park and tried it barefoot too. Not comfy at all on pedals and gravel track. I just restricted myself to a straight section of the trail and a wide area of track. Just a little back and fourth run. Too chicken to go further especially where turns might be or slopes

I used to live in a neighborhood on Caddo Lake that was adjacent to an abandoned armory. The armory was being converted to a wildlife sanctuary.  8100 acres of timberlands with dirt roads and trails throughout. They had begun on the opposite side to develop and manage the trails for hikers, bicycles and equestrian. Our side was mostly unused. I often was out either nude hiking or biking, occasionally with my gf. I would also canude from the cottage into the park.
Once, while biking naked in the armory, I flipped over a fallen limb. My knee caught the handlebars flinging the bike high above me. This caused a subdural hematoma on the knee. I had to bike back with one bare foot. It was already dark, so I didn't bother putting the shorts on.  Actually drove myself to the hospital with my left foot. They wouldn't give my anything because I didn't have anyone to drive me home.
On an occasional, restless night I would jump on the bike, barefoot allover, for a quick ride about the neighborhood.  In the forest it could be pitch black, which added a bit of adrenaline to the activity. There were porch and driveway lights to be wary of, but I never encountered anyone.

I started going naked in the night at about age 9 or 10.  My next door neighbor boys and I would sleep outside in the back yard in summer when it was too hot to sleep inside in our upstairs bedrooms.  That was the 1950s and nobody in our town had AC.  We went naked to our school, around the school, and played in the school yard in the dark.  They moved away and we moved down the street, but at about age 13 I would sneak out of our house at night and walk naked through our town.  It was an older neighborhood with lots of bushes and big trees to hide behind if a car drove by.

Since then I've been going naked outside at night off and on when it seemed fun.  In summer 1963 I worked at a lake boat place and did nighttime skinny dipping and naked on the docks.  While in college in Seattle in 1964 I would run naked through a park called "Ravenna Park."  It had a gravel road/trail just over a mile long with some side trails.  One night in the 1970s I was staying at a State Park in a camper, (caravan for you brits).  Being bored I went out and spent a couple of hours walking naked around the park.  I may have been the only camper in the park that night.

Sometime later in 1980s I would venture outside naked on our street, but the town was very government security focused so I worried about losing my job if caught.  I started going outside naked in the woods more often in about 1990s, but not so much at night.  One time at a professional conference at a hotel in Albuquerque I went out to their courtyard hot tub instead of going home, and did some night time naked soaking.  Then I drove home naked in the night.  One night I visited a NM Hot Spring at night, but when going home I slipped on ice in the dark and slid many feet down the hill.  I managed to bung up my knee in the fall and slide.  I quit going there at night after that.  Plenty of daytime naked at the hot spring though.

We moved to Albuquerque a few years later and I did more nighttime nudist walks in town.  I walked around the block where we lived.  I walked on the road/path next to the (paved) flood drainage ditch.  Since I moved to Washington State, I still go to Albuquerque to visit my boys who are now grown.  I still go naked at night while there.  Nights on road trips tend to be boring so going out naked is an activity.

Since I retired from my government job I have become less concerned with being seen or harassed for being naked, so I mostly do my nudist adventures in broad daylight.  Its a lot more safe in daylight.  My naked bicycle rides are daytime.  No crashing over the handle bars in the dark as Safebare described.

I the 1980's I lived in a suburban neighborhood. Once or twice a year, we would get liquored up enough that I could talk who I was with into a walk around the neighborhood. Usually a full moon in the dead of night. It was an adventurous excitement for me. All senses alert, ready to bolt, anticipating, thinking ahead to know where I could hide, listening to distant traffic. There was the risk factor driving it. I liked taking risks more back then. It was like smuggling myself, or a commando infiltration.

I held the vision of being arrested as a sex offender at those times. It heightened the sense of risk.

We got pinned down in a alley, when traffic from closing bars happened one night.

My wife and I lost rack of time once and ended up walking in daylight on a Sunday morning to get back home.

The idea of doing things "crazy" was appealing. I was with a three others, two female and one male. The one female wanted to be seen. It made us nervous concerned that she might cause and arrest. When She started doing cartwheels down the main road, the other two went back to the house. The longer that we were out, the more relaxed we became. There were a couple of cars that passed, one an extra time.  I realized that there is nothing disturbing, it is even appealing to people, to have a gorgeous nude blonde walking down the sidewalks of a neighborhood on an evening stroll.

More recently, well, about 15 years ago, my then girlfriend was exploring herself, having lived in a restrictive lifestyle forever. I painted black exercise shorts/tights, on her with a paint sports bra. She delighted in walking in suburban neighborhoods, places where she's not supposed to nude. She dropped letters in a box at a mall as people stood a couple of hundred feet away seeing her, she passed right by people rather closely, but in dim night light walking. If a car came by to brighten things up, we would hug, hiding her direct view with my body. They would only see her from the side. A police car even passed by slowly as we acted like we were ignoring them. So many of those tights look painted on.

Under full moon light, DF and I took walks through the desert neighborhood in Tortolita. We even stopped by and visited with a pair of friends. They were surprised to see us nude at their door, but thought it fun. Warm evenings, clear lighted vision, the quiet, the sky, the wonderful senses when nude is an incredible experience.
