Ha! Back in the day, my wife was just about ok being naked and happier topless if there were many others on the beach in similar stages of undress. But that’s all gone - I assume to body confidence issues. I see other couples on our local nude beach and envy the fact that the wife/partner is naked and enjoying the sun and the sea. This summer just gone, one naked couple spent half an hour snapping photos of each other and I wished my partner had that degree of comfort and confidence in herself. But I wouldn’t dream of trying to persuade her to change - it’s her choice but I would love it if, one day, she had an epiphany and joined in.

Epiphany happens....

Maybe when you are both alone some time?

Vanity gets to people. I got a new Gopro and shreaked at the chubby guy before my eyes during playback...AND me, Jbee, goes on about body acceptance. ;) It just didn't look like the guy that I see in the mirror.

Epiphany happens....?

Gravity happens, more like, JBee. I've learned to accept it, as long as I don't put too much weight on in winter - like more than I can lose in summer. I don't obsess about it but I do get on the scale on the first of every month, and if I've put some flab on I have to restrict my cookie intake! I know I don't get as much excercise in winter as in summer, and the appetite tends to go up in the colder weather - bummer!

I don't know that I'll ever accept it, or I'll lose the battle. I accept that I'll have weight fluctuations, but when I need new pants and can't just not wear them, then I get bothered.

Even more than vanity, it is a reflection of my health and what I am doing for it, my quality of life and my longevity.

What is it about wives?!!......
In our old house where the garden was predominantly private, there was a constant commentary of ‘cover up’ and ‘be careful’ whereas my attitude was far more relaxed.
Over the years, she has relaxed a little and is now ok at a nude beach, me naked her clothed. .....you can almost see the thought bubble from her head that thinks some sort or orgy is about to happen.....(but it’s sort of reassuring to find I’m not alone)!
You aren't alone John V.  You are lucky to have a wife that accepts your naturism at least partially.  My wife is entrenched in a whole raft of prejudices and objections which make her all but closed to naturism by me, let alone her.  To her, naturism is a cardinal evil!!
One of our long-gone erstwhile forum friends, Larry Tanman, used to refer to 'incrementalism' i.e. the slow and gentle pushing of boundaries which he applied to his spouse until she was not only tolerant for him to be naked most of the time but joined in sometimes.  This took many years and went on until their divorce!! Then Larry married an out-and-out naturist.  I have found incrementalism with my wife to be effective although so far at a much lesser level.  But still I have managed to guide my wife (usually showing her that nothing bad happens) over the last 8-10 years towards a degree of temporary toleration of my nudity, say on hot days and on days when I get up but don't get dressed.  Her objections have reduced although after a while, ranging from a few minutes to a few hours, she asks me to get dressed (well nags me actually!).

And whilst I hesitate to generalise, in this case, I do think that women have many, many more inhibitions to accepting or embracing nudity than men.

Re female inhibitions and body (lack of) confidence - I once heard it said that women would only match men for body confidence when they could walk down the street, balding, beer bellied and unshaven and still think they look sexy.

Many women are afraid of getting hassled by excited men while nude. They need a safer (their word), more comfortable atmosphere to be nude. Nude in the public socially conventional places still have these disrespectful unenlightened men and women that might catcalll or grab. Just ignorance being tolerated out there.

We all like to believe the world is a good place that just happens to have some not-nice happenings and people in it. I believe that, unfortunately, such belief is only aspirational and the bad happenings and people are part of the normal, the niceness is a bubble we wrap round ourselves. Depressing thought, but once the principle is accepted then one can concentrate on the good life in the bubble and stop worrying about the not-nice - it’s not an aberration so won’t be changed any time soon. If ever.

Many other women want to get paid for being nude.  The upsurge of "Only Fans" is one result.

Hey there Peter S.:

Rose colored glasses, eh? Or opposed to the negative philosophies wrapped around "It's a dog eat dog world."

What you project does influence others, creating that. That's why people wear clothing to fit in. Shall I mention"Wolves in sheep's clothing?" Most of the time people are in an imaginary bubble, as you say. Some get particularly upset when you don't conform to their bubble, in their perceived bubble. But, bubbles are flexible, they meld, they pop, they're bubbles.

There is also the quantum idea of manifestation, that seems to have some effect, work in degrees and in subtle ways. Like "The Secret", but not so radical. You attract like energy. Fear manifests things that create those fears that you have.

Even reality is flexible. If you don't believe it, just ask me. :D

Seeing reality for what it is is quite a trick, I find....

Off of the current topic and back the the thread's name, I notice that November has passed again.

La Nina presents us with lots of sunny warmer weather, but dry for the desert fauna and flora. With all of these great days, I have been gettin' 'er done around the house. I set a goal to revive the tradition of the sweat family evening Thanksgiving potluck. So I had to get the B&B painted and done up, the yard presentable (site of much construction projects) and finish the enclosing of the former screened-in porch. We were pushing 12 hour and one 21 hour day to the deadline, plus a late date arrival of a cord of wood for the sweat. Great weather, lots of free nudity during that. I found that when I have to open the gate, the angles and the truck backed in create a very good blind spot to the road. So we did the wood unload and stacking nude as well, with a ten foot hole in the fence.

The Thanksgiving filled up with 35 or 40 old hippie friends, mostly around two fire-pits singing, drumming and listening to various guitar talents. It was heart felt after four years, covid and the passing of our former hosts. We did a thanks circle and most comments were gratitude for the party and space and sweat. There was talk of a sweat that night, but weirdly, there was no drinking, no, now legal, smoking and nobody got naked. What kind of hippies have would behave like that?!?

DF was also back in Georgia helping out again for two of the weeks. Consequently, we only got out for one sunny hike in the Tucson Mountains. We didn't even get to the hot springs this month.

Every Sunday from noon to sundown, we have had a sweat and attendance has been good.  One time we had about a dozen nakeds belting out spiritual song and drum at one time. I notice that nothing gets done on those days, so in leu of a hike, that's not so bad a month.

We got involved in Nudism.TV this month. We got a new go pro and are learning to use it to create content. So far it is mostly messed up content, during learning curve. Not s pro yet.

well december is nearly over, i havnt checked to see when i last posted but its been a while,  the year as a whole has been busy...you guessed it i officially retired in april and dont seem to have had much spare time since. Here in Sussex weve got a naturist beach literally five minutes drive away, managed to get there twice this year.   Ive had more luck on my frequent drives to and from Somerset i can do it in 3 hours but if the weathers right ill stop in the new forest or the wilds of wiltshire and go for an hour or twos wander, pick the right day and place and i see nobody other times ill meet the odd dog walker or two.  I still havnt managed to explore much of the sussex countryside , theres a whole lot of it just north of chichester,  half hour or sos drive away ,i intend to explore more of it next year, hopefully get the wife to tag along on the flatter bits, but shes not really into rambling , prefers sitting on the beach and splashing in the sea.
Just need some appropriate weather to kick start the new year.

re naturist corner , they threw me off after many years and posts for ignoring the demand to post a full face pic.

Had a good December with several walks including being naked in all but one. That was yesterday. I went with my son on a previously walked naturist route.  I stayed dressed, part because I wasn't sure how comfortable he'd be walking with his ancient naked Dad and secondly it was too cold! The pub was nice and warm afterwards though.

Re. Naturist Corner. I remained a member but got fed up with the bland and boring posts and was not going to interviewed online by John Simpson as to whether I was suitable for the barelyclubhouse site he was replacing NC with. I doubt many will join. It was a pity NC went down hill as it was a fun and enjoyable site, especially whilst being run by Tony. I was a moderator but he sacked me as I showed insufficient interest in his new design for the site. He never bothered to ask why or if I was OK etc. Can't say I was really bothered.

Hooray Ric, I've been often overwhelmingly busy since I "officially retired. Others that I have talked to have the same experience. I've always been busy, but it just seemed to amp up. A lot has had to do with packing up, selling, moving, remodeling, redoing, starting up air B&B and community sweat. DF has been more available to pitch in on her family matters and new stuff has popped up as for that, since retiring herself.

Which brings me to what has been happening this last month. I think that I'll also add my assessment of the last year, now, too. We can't help but compare months, so it is a good time to compare naturist activities over the course of years and satisfaction with the bigger picture.

We got to one short hike this month, up in the Tucson Mountains. We have this new GoPro and started to use it. There is a learning to do with those things. We learned to take an extra battery, or two on this tryout. Ran out of juice less than halfway! Did get out on the boulder, but the mountain shades it in the winter, so we didn't get that longer meditation on it done. I think that it will be fun, as we get better acquainted with the Go Pro.

DF had more family matters to tend to, including Puerto Rico for two days. It's been a tough month for her, but it seems to be getting resolved, now. That has gotten in the way, as we tend to get out naked together, more than singularly. I just used my time to work out this remodeling. I completed the enclosure of the screened porch. It is now three big 5x5 windows and a three foot door facing south. The morning sun pops in and heats it, when it is chilly outside. I can sit, meditate, stretch/yoga on the rug out there nude. The shadows are pleasant. After these rains leave, I'll pipe in the new wood burning stove, which will toast it up anytime. It will be great space, a transition between outdoors and inside when there are temperature extremes. It will become a bit of a greenhouse and a living space, too. I'll do an article on it one of these days.

We got out the Christmas decor and tree for a family Christmas/party Yule with the new baby. I'm hosting a gathering each week for the transpersonal energy gathering that had been shut down due to Covid in 2020. The space will be very useful. It gives me more space to entertain guest...the nudists, too. It will be a great place when the weather isn't so perfect, expanding my naked range in comfort.

December was naked working on the house. The Sunday afternoon sweat/sauna has been well attended, so several social nudity gatherings at my place. We didn't go to the hotsprings this month because of the cold raining weather.

This year has been interrupted like no other, with much less hiking. The retiring in the city idea included to get out in nature seven out of 30 days each month and it hasn't been happening. I suppose that the nearing impending completion of these dozens of projects will help. DF's family stuff, could go anywhere. There are plans for a summer trip, more hotsprings weekends, walking in mid-week, continuing sweat Sundays, and being nude always around the house and garden. But there are plans for 25 days of B&B guests during the gem show, some extra work and a hernia operation in February. Always something. Maybe, the clothing optional airB&B will bring some guests who want to naked hike, too.

So, Happy New Year, to all. We're all gonna get naked and freely roam like no other this coming year! That's the resolution...well, one of the resolutions.
