Much less snow these days. The trouble is people cannot cope with it  so schools close with a quarter of an inch of the white stuff. We once had a visitor from Wyoming who couldn't believe how everything was so difficult.
I went for a seven mile walk Thursday some naked. The temperature dropped just after 3.00 pm so clothes back on. Overall it had actually been sunny. It was probably the last naked walk of 2023.

Hi Df!  Lovely to hear from you personally.  You should post more often.
Yes, Great Britain is very often a grey and rainy place from September to the end of March.
That's not to say it always rains and we do get many sunny days but cloud is always there somewhere.
Even in the summer the weather is always mixed.  If you go to Southern Europe, you can pretty much count on sunny days and clear nights from April to October with little rain.  In the UK and a lot of Northern Europe, rain is our constant companion even in high summer although any of our weather, happily, does not normally reach the extremes found in a lot of the USA e.g. drought, cyclones, hurricanes, monsoons and what not.

I speak for the middle band of these Isles.  Scotland gets fairly consistent snowfalls annually and the north west is much wetter than the south and east

The thing that is most disruptive is snow.  We get snow over most of the UK rarely.  The last white Christmas when snow fell and lay on Christmas day was 2010 although some fell in 2017 but it didn't reach the ground before melting.  If snow falls, and it is usually in January/February, because deep snow (1=-3 inches and up) is rare, we don't have the infrastructure to deal with it.  Main roads are gritted with salt and sand to melt snow/ice and usually stay open but the rest of the nation grinds to a virtual halt - many trains stop (all are late!), people can't get places by road and all manner of things just crumble when there is snow.  Snow ploughs are a rarity except in the N. of Scotland.  Around 2012 we had a bad fall of snow and I was with a potential client only about 25 miles from home.  It was snowing when I left in the morning but I arrived only about 10 minutes longer than normal as the route was all main roads.  The snow had broadly stopped by mid afternoon when my meeting ended.  Nevertheless it took me 9 hours to get home!!  Thank goodness I had prepared with food and a flask of hot coffee in the car.

We have had very rainy weather and storm force conditions quite a lot in the last few months.  Increasingly we are getting storms over the UK.  The ground is saturated so any new rain goes straight into the rivers and often low lying roads and housing by rivers are inundated causing people to be flooded out of their homes and journeys subject to long diversions to avoid the floodwater.  Many fields round our village are wet through and crops ruined by being underwater. This may affect the availability of vegetables in the spring. 100% cloud cover is very normal and we don't give it a second thought.  Darkness falls around 4pm this time of year.

Still, when spring peeps through at the end of March, we are a green and verdant land and if we had more sunshine, we'd be a very desirable part of the world to live in.  Mid you, our infrastructure doesn't cope with drought very well either.  Because we have a lot of rain, our water companies do little to stop leaks and preventable outflows.  Consequently a lot of eservoirs dry up very fast if there is a long period (say 6-8wekks) of very low or no rain.  But the UK is not bad by comparison with some places because our weather, whilst depressing, is not usually too severe.

You should come and visit and sample it for yourself.  Unlike AZ you can't just strip off any day and be warm and dry.  Probably 50% of days in the UK are too cold to warrant nakedness outdoors.  But equally, when we can get naked, it's a greater pleasure because of the restrictions we live with.

Happy New Year!...and a new month!.

December holiday season contained their stresses. It has been difficult to find time out hiking in nature. We did get one hike in. We spent a day out west in remote mountains wandering in four wheel drive and on foot. Came across a newborn javalina and some other unusual sightings. It felt great ot be out in a silent desert, nature with no one else for miles. It had been a while.

We stopped in to visit friends at Terra Sante, a couple of intentional communities out there with clothing optional policies. We then participated in their festive Tuesday sweat. Wandering easily in no clothing about the world makes for a smiling attitude.

Life has been nude about the house and garden creating. We put on a Solstice sweat which was reported here as a link to the website. Sunday sweats have been well attended. Looks like we'll throw another special seat this week, a memorial; for a member who passed away. We'll do a celebration of life ceremony and then an honorary sweat afterward, potluck party.

Our plans for the hotsprings got dashed by crappy weather. Better luck is hoped for this month.

I've been a home-body the last couple of months, spending my time out of doors a lot, amongst friends each week nude, but my range has only been within my walled in 1/3 acre and some trips to our other nude refuge, DF's place in a robe. I haven't felt confined so much as I've been choosing to be at home.

When I have been out doing errands, I've caught myself cutting the list short and going home, because I'd rather be freed in my little compound, doing life undressed. I suppose with all of the clothed social engagements, pants and shoes are feeling more confining and the stress unhealthy...I've become spoiled, or enlightened, I'm not sure. :o

Its been a weird year as I look back. Guess we'll see what happens next.

We seem to have nothing but rain lately. Even my annual "Christmas Pudding Walk" to get rid of the Christmas excess never took place. All the clothes in my wardrobe are shrinking!!  I need exercise and its still raining. I do however have a naked swim session on Saturday so some relief in sight.

According to Balkan folklore, when it rained "too much," women would run into the fields and lift their skirts to scare the gods and end the rain.

It may be worth a try. After all, we got together with many other peoples around the world on Dec. 21st and whooped and howled and danced naked and the sun started coming back again in longer days. When I told them that it would work, they just snickered. They didn't believe me, but the joke was on them.  ;)

In December we had almost 3X as much rain as usual for that time of year.    BUT, we had very little snow.  We are now close to average temperatures.  Average afternoon high is 33F or 1 C.   Night low is about 22 F, or -5C.   But our afternoons have been a couple of degrees warmer this year, close to 35 F.
Still way too cold for me to go out side naked.

Holy ---! I didn't know that it is such a cold place to get highs like near freezing. That reminds me of my days in Michigan.

As per usual, your weather is like the opposite side of the coin from here. Dec. was unusually warm in Tucson.

We are expecting a serious Arctic blast next week.  Afternoon highs about 2 F,  (-15 C).  But after a few days it will likely warm up to freezing again.  That's why we keep dreaming of moving to Arizona.

Well, for the second time in my lifetime we're getting morning freeze more than a couple of days in a row. There is cold rain and winds amongst it. This has been mitigated by the sauna. Saturday, we had a small outdoor memorial service/celebration for a friend that passed away. The cold weather came marching in, but part of the thing, including a bunch of Grateful Dead and food, was a honorarium sweat, where we continued to reminisce.

Today, 20 plus mph winds, rain and cold came in. I called a sweat anyway and about ten people showed up. The sweat was probably the hottest place in Tucson. After a quick jaunt from the lockers to the heat absolutely naked, in that cold, we all sat around naked with our friends and had a great time of it. Getting out wasn't bad, like the initial shock of being completely naked in those conditions. The whole of the world was a bit of a cold plunge.

Back in the 1970s it was predicted that the earth is heading toward another great Ice Age.  Then we had a lot of political BS about "global warming" that has never happened.  More recently I've been reading more about the physics of planetary motions causing a cold/warm cycle of about 25,000 years, and another cycle about 240 years.  Supposedly the earth has crossed the max warm time of the long cycle and is trending colder.  We won't live long enough to see much of the 25,000 year cycles though.

We have also had record heat for longer periods. We have had a record warm winter until now. Last couple of years when spring usually has come, instead winter finally came.
There is a great deal of data showing global warming trends on average. It manifests as temperature extremes. Air currents up north, unusual jet stream activities, La Nina and El Nino, higher polar temps, etc. get changed and like a domino effect, it leaves us in this very cold, weird, very warm, dry, wet, less predictable weather. Since 1989, it's gotten weirder and warmer.

It is hard to think global warming when suffering frozen cold. I just had my daily smoothie and I'm shivering next to a heater. Covers are on the plants outside and I think of you with those zero temperatures outside of your door. brrrr!

I miss the good old days  :(... ;D

That's why the experts moved away from the term 'Global Warming' to use a more familiar term 'Climate Change'. It is warming the globe as they predicted in the 70's, but it results in climate extremes, both in heat and cold.  Bob is right that the world would be experiencing an increase in global temps even without human help. The problem lies in the amount of 'help' humans are contributing in these modern times. The easiest way of explaining the human contribution is through carbon dioxide accumulations. Carbon long locked up in plant, animal and mineral matter is now part of the atmosphere. Prehistoric times had this phenomena which had to be overcome before plants and animals could thrive.

I earned a decent living off the oil/gas industry. I do not advocate radical actions in the attempt to turn this around, it must be a global effort and will take time to make a significant impact. We are already making serious strides in developing energy from various non-carbon or reduced carbon sources. We must continue those efforts, there is no magic bullet.

We did make a huge impact in the 70s to reduce pollution and develop cleaner energy. It was and continues to be, the right thing to do. The biggest thing that goes into my trash is the kitty litter cleanings. simply because I would rather those go to the landfill instead of my compost pile. We should focus on less consumerism and more on a 'reduce, reuse, recycle' mentality, not out of some political rhetoric, but because its the right thing to do. Landfills are the cheapest (in $$$) and most expensive (in global impact), property managed by humans today.

Hi everyone,
I've been a bit 'not here' over the last couple of weeks since Christmas.  Nice to see a decent crop of posts and catch up with conversations.
I'm well and truly in winter mode.  The washing basket is full of clothes as most days I am clothed during this wintery weather couple with a period of busy activity away from home.  My body craves a long period of clothes freedom but I just don't seem to have any day these days where I haven't got to go out or interact with people needing to be clothed.  The one relief from this is my bits of naked time in the changing room as described in another post today.  I also take brief air baths in the garden in the evening/night when it's clear and icy.
New year resolution - try to plan some sort of away day where I can be naked.  I think I'm going to have to visit the one naturist club in my home county, about 1.5 hrs drive.

Yeah there, Nuduke:

"There is no try in the universe, there is only do."

Looking forward to the trip report.

I've been jumping out into the brisk morning air and running around naked a bit. The movement keeps me warm. The sun works wonders.
A couple of Sunday sweat days have been cold windy rain, so getting about outside of the sauna has been...cold. We have been a smaller group consequently, but it has been a cozy party atmosphere hunkered in there. After sauna, cold showers and weather are tolerable. Attitude toward it helps also. The stress on the body feels healthy.

Here we are the day before Groundhogs Day!

Free range DF and I took a hike looking for the backside trail into the Tortolitas. We had a heck of a hike following cattle tracks, we're out of shape. We didn't find the trail until the last minute. So, we have another hike on the bucket list. We've had alternate gorgeous weather and then more rain and freezing nights than usual. Feast or famine, the extra higher than usual temps have been worth enduring the crappy stuff...we always need rain.

Not much hiking. Holding on to my health kick pretty well. My usual paying guests didn't stay here this year, so I've been hustling to up the standards, install two new air/heater conditioners, and make ready for airbnb. Lots of work, naked mostly, so my tan has lasted through the winter.

We did spend a few days at the hot springs and the Sunday sweat has had very good attendance each week. Very busy. Not even time to post on the website.
