Our December was cold and rainy with less than usual snow.  Too cold for comfortable nudity but not bad otherwise for this time of year.

I'm trying to think of the number of reasonable people that I've met on the trail or otherwise know of. Not that many.

I have been seen nude a few times in the backwoods with no serious consequences. I recall getting strange looks when I was actually just wearing shorts. I'm in my 70s now and I think it might matter what the age differences might be. But that's just a guess.

Oh, to be 70 again.

SH**TY! A house with no heater to contend with. DF's place is very inefficient and cold. We wear robes there. The weather has been chilly,rainy, twice as many freezes as the norm. Holiday duties and family, everywhere obstacles. I've gone from being uncovered 90% of the time to 90% covered all the time! It is a lesson in gratitude out of contrast. I see DF nude as she stands up out of bed to grab her robe in the morning and during showers, she's in the same boat. So much more laundry and I'm being conservative!
Hahaha!  You are experiencing what it's like in the UK 90% of the time!
Hope it makes you appreciate your climate when the weather returns to normal naked comfortable temperatures.

It made up to 70 today here in Northern Virginia. Not bad for January. But walking-wise, I'm taking it easy. I broke one my ankles over 20 years ago and it's bothering me. It's hop-along now. Everything else is just fine.

January was unusually good for Tennessee.  Got in a number of days of unclad working time.   But so Far Feb is chilly and wet. Well:  Jan was wet too but plenty of warm days with one day that topped out at 70F.     We are over 6" in excess rain above average since Jan 1.   2 years ago ended with around 25" excess and last year about 10" over.   The moisture is constantly blowing up from the gulf of mexico mingling with cooler air and dumping it's load on us frequently.

I managed a walk last Friday of about 10 miles in our Peak District. It was about 2 deg C at the start with some frost on the ground. I did manage some free range walking but part of my route was along a well used old railway track and not so conducive to solo naked walking. Later at one point a cold biting wind made it sensible to put some clothes back on.

When out of the wind it was actually quite pleasant being naked

There is a book, published, I think, in 1927 entitled "Nudism in Modern Life," which has many recommendations concerning nude living. Among them was the belief that "in the future" homes would be heated so efficiently as to make year-round nudity at home possible. There might be some doubt about whether that future has arrived, given that heating a house costs something still. Some houses might be better than others regarding heating and heat distribution. I spend part of my mornings either nude or wearing some kind of top, depending on what I'm doing and exactly where in the house I happen to be. It's 60° F in the basement, more or less, rather cool but tolerable if I'm doing something like moving things around or otherwise being active. But for just sitting around, it has to be at least 70°. I think I've mentioned a nude hike I did last fall, or at least the hike that I did nude for the first half (of maybe ten miles or less) with a temperature of about 60° in the parking lot (or whatever I said it was before, probably in this thread). For hiking with a day pack and going uphill with no wind, that was perfect. Once on the ridge, though, with the wind, it was chilly when I stopped for lunch. But we all have different tolerances for cold and I imagine for heat, too. I think the leaves were still on the trees, though, so I was usually in the shade, too.

It has been extra cold and rainy again this year. Heat pump out, Moving packing have taken so much of my time. Just a few trips to Havarock and a couple of sweats. When the sun came out on the warm days, I took a couple of sats in it. It was irresistible and so wonderful, but then the obligations of moving on a deadline popped up. I had to miss a couple of wonderful days when Redington Pass was flowing and wondrous.

This month has been more of the same, but I'm gonna be naked on a Oaxacan beach the last half.

Pretty not naturist in January and so far in February.  See my latest post in Coping with Cold Weather thread.
I find it hard to make naturist plans at the moment.  Life is so busy (which is broadly a good thing) that naked recreation takes a bit of  back seat.  I have some things I want to do - wild swimming, cross the ford of a local river nude (I will do this this summer I feel), travel to a naturist place in the north of our county, investigate the coastline (about 2hrs drive away) and see if I can find a nook to bathe naked and solitary, not a naturist beach necessarily, just somewhere deserted I could do a bit of secret naturism.
Until the spring at least the hatches are battened down until the weather warms up.

In 1927  (the year my dad was born)   the writer may have known of inventions which would have developed into just what was predicted.   However such inventions although many and varied were all conveniently hidden away in favor of what keeps the money flowing toward the marketers of energy products.    One such invention was made by a Paul Davies of New Zealand not long after WW2,  it was ever so good at generating quantities of hot water with next to nothing for energy input, (using sonic resonance vibration to generate standing pressure waves to cause water molecules to heat themselves by friction)  but he tried all his life to get the interest of industry in it,  but to no avail.   Industry doesn't want anything like that,   a one time sale of a simple device that works forever after,  replacing what they make lots of money on continually. 


Oh well;   so much for the love of money over honesty and good of humanity.   Our Tennessee winter has been exceptionally mild,  got in plenty of naked work time In Jan,  but Feb so far has been just chilly,  not real cold,  but not warm enough to get out without the insulation fabrics. And lots of rain, we're some 9 inches above average already since Jan 1.   Yesterday was close,  got in a 5 mile hike back from church through the forest,   was pretty cool and I didn't loose any clothing for the first mile,  but started warming up when I started going uphill and went bottom free the rest of the way.  It was 45 F when I got home an hour before dark.  Might get in some tomorrow,  I have the trackloader ready to go (I hope)   need to use it out there to make fence row around my developing naturist farm,  (too many wild critters eat what I try to grow,  needa fence them out.)  and it's supposed to be 60 tomorrow just before the next rain arrives Tuesday.  Just warm enough to be comfortable without fabric if the wind don't blow too much.  Today it was barely up to 50 and I spent it doing repairs and finishing up some details on the equipment.  A hydraulic pump replacement on the little kubota and a ring welded on the old trailer coupler so it'll stay on a ball, and the radiator put back on the track hoe.    The old trailer coupler was off a burned house trailer back in 1985,  I used it for my flatbed trailer and it's been in service ever since.   Getting where it jumps off the ball hitch when it's locked on,   so I fixed that.  It's been through hell and back and falling apart,   think I'll rebuild it eventually and use it to carry the refrigerated truck box to haul produce off my naturist farm.

This winter has been very cold.  Finally last week we got some sunshine so I ventured out.  It was about 40s (5C)  but the sun felt good.  The Lake still is ice covered.

Great to be back out - you are hopefully a harbinger of better weather for us all.  Where is the lake relative to your home, Bob?  Was it deserted so you could be naked or were you walking in fits and starts to avoid being observed (if that bothers you at all, which I doubt).  What was your naked duration in the cold before either dressing or getting back in the car?
Weather has been foul in our area - the rivers are running dangerously high and the ground remains saturated.  Many fields are flooded and thick mud (we have a heavy clay soil structure).  I did get out in the garden for a couple of chores last week as we did have some sunny intervals but it was cold with gusty wind.  Today I was working in the garage some and stocking up with logs in the fireplace later but I had to wear overalls, it was really chill.

Same problems here in the Cotswolds, John - even when we get a dry day or (heavens above!) some sunshine, the ground's far to wet and boggy to enjoy a walk, whether naked or not. We have to get out to walk the dog, and that's offputting from venturing out again for the pleasure of it. Couple of weeks back it was starting to dry a bit and we were getting sections of firm footing - then that wretched Storm Ciara came in and we're back where we started. I'm going stir crazy not getting my naked rambles.
