I ran across this while I was looking for those photos in the post from John about the pub meeting.

Dan Freewalkerma up above told me that my technique of leaving the key on one of the tyres wasn't secure enough: "Everyone knows about that". I'm gonna show him. One of these days we'll go on a trip together and when he's not looking, I'll take his keys from that nook he uses and put them somewhere else. Ha ha ha I will go.

So, John, did you make good on that? :D
It’s not like you’re reaaalllly getting’ busted. :P

You DID post it on a public forum! :)

Duane

Of course, should that happen John, the well being of my keys will be on your watch, and you shall have to assure that I get home without offending any of those "professional fussbudgets".

Oh. Well Dan, now that you've become active on this board again, I think I have given my plan away and I won't be able carry it out. In fact I've put myself in a miserable situation, where I will have to guard your keys because if they get lost, I'll be the one you'll inevitably blame!

Two of my cars have number pads on the door.   leave the key inside and remember the number.  Or write it down.   I like it.

One time on a road trip at 4 AM I stopped at a convenience store.  I stepped out for "just a moment" leaving the car running.  A little wind blew the door closed and it locked..   There I was 1000 miles from home with the key inside and the car running.  The number pad saved me.   Good option for cars.

Ah, car keys. As a fitness enthusiast -- okay, okay, an out-of-shape blob with a fitness tracker -- I can tell you that my Fitbit wristband is the ideal place to loop the basic car key. All other keys remain hidden in the car in some crevasse until Maya and I return.

This has served us well in our summer visits to nudist communities, especially since my particular flavour of band (a Flex 2) is waterproof. It's also handy for freehiking.
I feel my best when naked in the world, especially in wide, open spaces, wherever and whenever possible.
