I'm not a Welsh speaker for family reasons. I didn't want to learn it either. Now I deeply regret not speaking my countries language. It certainly wasn't just spoken by shepherds in the hills. I heard it on a daily basis in my local village in the Vale of Clwyd an area open to visitors from many areas. It was many people's first language and what was normally used in the home.

As for Welsh signage I do have sympathy with Ric's views. Some times the Welsh was at the top and other areas at the bottom. There does need to be consistency throughout the Principality. On balance I prefer to see the English first as many visitors need the information quickly, but I suppose it is actually their language.

Sometimes you do get the ridiculous situation of both the English and the Welsh being the same!

You head south from Tucson and there is Nixon era signage in kilometers. These are wholly useless for nearly all Americans. I can translate/transpose/calculate roughly from living in Europe for a few years.

A different language, is like a different country indeed.

TV and media, I should think, would get everyone in tune with English. Then again, we have Spanish speaking TV  and neighborhoods. USA is a melting pot for other nationalities, but the common communication is English, otherwise you'll be lost here. Few people speak more than one language, even when it is available in high school and college. In the southweat and Florida, there are places to live and speak Spanish.

Then there were those two guys I hiked the Inca trail with, years ago, from London with their slang. They would go on and I'd not gather a word of it. You all in those isles seem to have a knack with regional language. American's English may be accented in every way possible, but we can understand each other.

We were watching a show about Skye a couple of weeks back and there were Gaelic speakers. DF was confused, "What's that?" We were surprised that 60% of the people up there are still into it.

ho ho Ric!  Obviously not a cymruphile it would seem!  I agree, the Welsh signage is tricky and with less than 1/3 of Welsh people that speak the language why don't the English names come first on the signs?  Mind you, I support the effort to keep our regional languages alive.  It would be a tragedy if Welsh and Gaelic (and Cornish) disappeared.

Now, the last few days have been much better for naturism chez Nuduke.  The weather has been really sunny (25-28 deg C) and Mrs N has been much more tolerant and has understood the benefit of nakedness in the heat (but paradoxically keeps her clothes on!).  She still moans weakly but acknowledges that she's being tolerant.  Consequently I've had a bit of a field day of nakedness although not actually in the fields!!

Jbee, it's perfectly possible to be an independent sovereign nation with 5 million population.  Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Georgia, New Zealand, Mongolia, Jamaica, Kuwait and Botswana all have that sort of population size amongst about 70 or 80 small nations. Indeed there are countries with populations of circa 50,000 see   https://theculturetrip.com/asia/articles/the-9-smallest-countries-in-the-world-by-population/

It is maybe about time for Baja Arizona to secede from Arizona. Of course, you remember what happened the last time somebody tried to secede from USA.

Months are going quick!
DF was in Georgia taking care of her mother nearly all month. I've been focused on getting this house and B&B remodeling in order, establishing the sweat community regulars, and prepping for an extended road trip. I consequently spent most of my time at home, butt naked, doing these things.

I thought that I would make one foray while she was gone, but excessive heat, and then rain, coupled with distractions. We finally made it out to Redington Pass for a day in that natural water park, when she returned.

It took her all of two minutes to strip down to nada when she returned, after being dressed for over FIVE straight weeks!

She quipped how she would help her soon to be 100 year old mom shower. She would wear a bikini.

One day, her mom asked how it was that she didn't seem to have "any of those white tanlines."

DF replied, "Oh, I was house sitting for three weeks at my friend's house and didn't wear a suit to swim and sun."

That was okay with her mom.

We decided to just do sweats in the evenings (Sunday), until the weather cools a bit. The sweat has been attracting up to a dozen regular participants. The group has been cohesive and enjoying each other. I have a large candelabra to light the sweat at night. It's a nice ambiance. We sing and beat drums. Sometimes it's silence.

It finally started to RAIN last week! The temps are back down into the 90's and the weeds...uh, desert vegetation, are starting to pop out. Redington still looked dry, but the water was flowing strong, like last year. We found a deep pool where the whole flow pushes through under a boulder. There is a vibration and a strong current that would carry us away, but it looks calm-ish on top. Just the ripples from the vibrations. Very fun, just perfectly warm enough water. Just like the write ups at the website, again.

Another month! August wasn't a time for any particular, or unusual getaways. We did get up to Redington Pass a couple of times. The water was flowing very well from the previous day's monsoon rains. It is sooo much fun.

One of the days was shortened by rain. We had been having a great time in the jauccuzi and sat on a rock having lunch, deciding what to do next. There were no threatening clouds. You may remember that the flash floods are deadly sometimes. I felt a drop. We noticed sprinkles in the water. Getting to the other side, we could see some grey clouds, but didn't expect rain. It began to rain harder, so we decided to head back to the main beach to be safe. A few hundred feet later, we were in a thick downpour. It was good to be naked, but not for the camera bags. All I had was a sarong that was wrapped around the camera bag and over my head. DF had a white shirt, but it was soaked. The cloth did seem to keep us a tad warmer...I hate to admit. ;D

As we climbed through the boulders, DF was leaning over climbing in an odd position and oddly, both of her camera straps broke at the same time and the camera bag hit the water. We finally found the only cover, under a very large boulder, to check things out at the main area, where we encountered a young woman who was waiting it all out.

We decided to go ahead and take the trail back and call it early. We laughed about Murphy's Law that it would probably let up by the time we got back to the car. It did. Oh well. Cameras are okay. Need a new bag.

The sweat on Sunday nights is coming along well. Eight to 12 people hanging out naked like family. We've had to close it down for the month of September, so I could have a house-sitter around. October is when it starts to cool and more people will show up.

Most of our month was set preparing for our road trip. On the last day of this month, we will get naked and drive to New Mexico, on the first day and leg of a trip across country to Georgia. I have planned nude activities all along the way. It should be an adventure. We're hoping for great weather. It should be about a month long trip, with a week mostly clothed and visiting with DF's relatives. The matriarch turns 100 years old, big family reunion.

Life has thrown all kinds of detours and challenges my way over the last several months, August was no different.

I am preparing for our "Naked Tuesday" celebration tonight.  It's held each time there are 5 Tuesdays in the month.  COVID certainly challenged the practice and it hasn't yet returned to previous glory.  It's been hosted by a local art's group that focuses more on artistic self expression, than nudism. But body acceptance and normalizing nudity are certainly a consistent theme.

Tonight's event is a celebration of its return. There is no expressed theme, only the request that everyone express themselves in something more than just a naked human.  One of the earlier events was a metal theme, with a forge, fire dances, etc.  I created a chain jumpsuit for that event.  I decided to recreate the jumpsuit and put a bunch of dangly things attached to it.  It should create some appreciation from an artistic expression perspective.

2 events punctuated August this year.  1st was the local electricity utility contractor damming up the flood control channel for my neighborhood.  I used to free hike back in the woods adjacent to the creek that the channel flows into, but the county built a frisbee golf course in those woods. During the height of COVID, the park was closed, and I was able to free hike and nude bike the trails again.

The county had maintained the channel until Hurricane Harvey, five years ago. The neighborhood flooded, including all of the houses immediately surrounding me.  The water was less than an inch from coming into my house, before retreating.  After that, the flood control district was charged with maintenance. It hasn't been touched since.  Anyway, with the draught continuing into August, I took it upon myself to explore the conditions of the channel and found several areas completely silted in and the channels blocked completely along the electrical distribution powerlines.

I contacted the county, the flood control district and the electrical distribution company and was able to have the dams (2) opened, but only after the rain started.  The channel maintenance issue has not yet been resolved. I did ride my bike through the woods behind my property onto the frisbee golf course.  I donned a wrap initially, to see if there were any golfers out on that muggy and muddy day. As I expected, a few people were playing the front holes, but they avoided the back due to the wet conditions. I was biking through the slosh when suddenly, surprising a lone back country golfer.  We shared greetings and continued on, no harm, no foul.
My goal that day was to check that the dams were indeed opened and water was draining.  It was.

The second significant event this month was the theft of my truck (Monster). It's a 20yo diesel Ford with 1/2 million miles driven. I never thought anyone would go to the trouble of stealing it, but there you go.

My daughter and I swapped trucks so I could replenish the freon in her truck, she had parked it at the upscale restaurant where she was working when it was stolen.  A week later, it was found. They had crammed a screwdriver into the ignition and had been driving it around for several days.  Apparently, the screwdriver jammed and the starter burned up, leaving the truck unable to go any further than the Kroger parking lot where it was recovered. They stole every shiny thing including the radio, bed cover, bed liner, even the horn, but except for the ignition damage and starter, was mechanically intact.

So, this past week I have been working on the truck in the driveway.  I would shield visibilty where I was working, avoiding offending the nude sensitive neighbors. The thieves left a assortment of items in the truck including a new office chair, clothes, toys, an AR rifle (toy), etc. I put the office chair at the curb and a neighbor stopped to make sure I was offering it to first dibs.  They politely waited for me to put something on before approaching.

I had to ponder the AR rifle for a couple days. It wasn't, in my mind, an appropriate toy for children. Very authentic and realistic, with sound and lights. What kind of parent would buy this for their children? I ended up giving it to my brother. He volunteers at a local ministry. I have no idea what became of the toy, I will not ask.

I have been negligent in posting, sliding back in the shadows while attending to life's distractions. I have been keeping tabs on the lot of you and hope to find more opportunities to engage this forum going forward.

As always
Stay Safe, Stay Bare!

I hate car thieves. I had my work van broken into once, tools stolen, doors and locks wrecked. It’s less the theft more the inconvenience it imposes on the victim. A car/truck/van is more than a set of wheels, it’s our method of personal movement and usually a necessary part of daily life and work; the interruption of that is the most thoughtless and selfish result of the thief’s action.

Sorry to hear that Peter.   We live in times when criminals are multiplying and cities aren't safe.

My month for Free Range Naturism began on in the morning of August 3 with a naked bike ride on the Columbia Plateau Trail State Park, 8 miles round trip.  About a dozen clothists on the trail.  .In the afternoon I had to wear clothes to buy a new pickup truck tire from the tire store $300.  My Pickup tire had a cut sidewall from doing naked off road wood cutting on my land.  I saw a cloud of smoke to the west as I drove home naked.

Afternoon I was out in the yard naked installing the new tire on my truck.  5 PM a sheriff came to our door and told us that a wildfire was threatening our area.  He advised us to pack a few things and evacuate the area.   My wife quickly packed several cases and left to a hotel in town.  I got busy watering my lawn (fire break) and preparing my emergency generator for possible electricity outage due to fire.   More on the fire in other posts.

The rest of the month was  less exciting.  I met an on-line acquaintance to explore nudism at People's Park in Spokane, WA, USA.   We met on Tuesdays and spent some time on the beach at Hangman Creek in the park.  Later in the month he visited my burned land and we did a naked walk in the ashes.

I did one naked trip to the Beverly Bridge across the Columbia River at the Palouse to Cascades Trail State park.  It's also in another post.

My nude bicycling was diminished.  My enthusiasm has been down since the fire.  I've did some nude plumbing repairs and cleanup of fire damage.  I wish my friend from Spokane had a bicycle.  We walk about in People's Park, but I would like a friend to nude bicycle with.  I don't go walking my land much in the ashes.  Maybe next year it will be more green again, or at least not as filthy if some winter rain settles it down.

Well, I did get a nude bicycle trip by myself again on August 30.  The weather has been hot so that's good for naked.

August was a good month with a stay at a Yorkshire Naturist club and a number of naturist walks both solo and in a group. My final walk was in the Welsh Berwyns which top out at 830 metres. These are molehills compared with some US and European mountains but at we are affected by Atlantic weather systems these can be challenging hills if the weather is misbehaving.

I only saw three other people, two had full cagoule gear on and one long trousers and a tee shirt. I must admit I did have a pair of lightweight shorts and a light top on at the summit as the wind was biting even though the sun was making an appearance. Apart from a short time so attired most of my walk was naked.

This is more of a summer summary with a couple photos.   (1) in April we enjoyed a week at Deanza Springs.  The nude hiking was great - just had to watch for the rattle snakes that were emerging. (2) in July we were in New Mexico for a memorial service.  We hiked to a favorite spring and took a dip.(had to remove photo to meet posting limit) (3) I've been naked gardening when at home.

We hiked to a favorite spring

What spring was that?    I'm an old NM resident, or was until a few years ago.

We're on the road again. Two nights and a hike in Cebola National Forest, an afternoon walking around Palo Dura Canyon Park. Labor Day weekend a Oaklake Trails Resort in Oklahoma....Good start in September. With weather blessings we may have many more adventures on way back from 100th B-day celebration.

That sounds erm..."quirky".  Want to share a picture? I can't imagine such a garment.  Does not a full chain garment pinch and trap sensitive parts of the manly physique?
