A pretty dreadful July up here in the Lake District. Not incessantly wet but cool and cloudy with many showers, so very poor for FRN. Add to that we had family visitors or other commitments when the sun did shine. Total 4 days with any nudity at all, and only one of those involving a walk. Looking back, July 2023 was rubbish too, but we had had good times earlier in the year - not so 2024!

Weather and climate trends surely do get negative Fellsnude. Even though we Tucsonans bask in 300 days of sunshine and the many of the 65 tend to have some spots of blue, there are times when it is better to find an alternative place to compensate. The hiking temps can be mitigated by choosing seasonal elevation changes. When the dry heat of May-June runs up over 100 in the desert.

There are lovely forests in the high mountains. When the monsoon arrives, it is still extremes in the desert, but also the mountains get more of the storms all during the day. It is hard to plan and the lightning is dangerous. So, we can leave to cooler, higher latitude places, a thousand miles away, but most of those submit a frequent rain, too.

The grace is swimming pools. Redington Pass has that (lots of fun) during monsoon. We nude climb, day-hike and dip along the way at Redington, but watch for flash-flooding potentials. We have friends with pools.

We get out early when it is still 80F to 95F, full moon night hike, as it drops off to 85F and less. We sauna.  We definitely stay naked all the possible time. Still, there is less range and times to hike.

Winter can be quite a chill at times, but there are frequent opportunities for naturism.

It is so important to seize the moment and keep a less cluttered schedule. As Bob says, "Carpe Diem!"

Climate change is certainly affecting the UK, Jbee, but the poor summer here in Cumbria is just pretty routine. It happens every few years, as does a sunny drought summer. In 2022 and 2023, however, we did have short heatwaves hotter than any I had experienced since moving here nearly 40 years ago. Most years we get a good spell or two of a few weeks at a time. London has to have a serious heatwave for it to get too hot to work here, nearly 300 miles north.

What counts as a heatwave in Cumbria? Anything over about 75F! Strange fact - the British have learned to think in Celsius for cold weather (freezing being zero) but tend to stick to Fahrenheit for warm or hot.

The UK is confusing concerning measurement. For height I think metres, as our maps use this. For distance, miles. Our mountains are classified by feet, thus all over 3000 ft are referred to as Munros. This is for historical reasons as a Mr Munro classified all Scottish mountains over this height. It's a joke that Brits will go and order two metres of 4" x 4" inch wood. We use litres for liquids except beer which on draft is in pints.

Fuel is measured in litres but many of us think  of miles per gallon - and that's a UK not a US one. Babies are weighed in kilos but frequently new parents will tell friends and relatives the weight in pounds.

We don't now use poles, rods, furlongs and fathoms. No wonder people from abroad can't fathom  us out!

It's worse than you think, Davie - the horse racing fraternity still use furlongs, just as they award the prize money in guineas. And sailors still talk in fathoms.

I've had a pretty good month so far.
Uk has been experiencing another bit of summer with a lot of hot, dry weather for almost a fortnight with only sparse rain showers!
As a result, I have simply rejected all clothing at home and because this has occurred on so many days, my wife has virtually stopped complaining or at least very much less than usual.  She always asks me to wear something whilst we are eating, though.  And if anyone is due to call - delivery or whatnot - she gets a bit antsy that someone might see me naked.  If we video call with anyone I wear a shirt during the call.
However, the result of this is that I have been almost living naked. I have had naked walks and I was naked a lot in our accommodation on our recent holiday (which is why you haven't heard from me for a week or so!) albeit that nudity was not possible outdoors, .
I did achieve a bucket list item - I went wild swimming in Derwentwater (a large lake in the N.W. of England).  I couldn't do it nude as there were others around but I enjoyed it so much that the next stage is to find a naked wild swim.

Once in the water, one removes the suit, swims a short distance nude and dresses before anyone knows or can know. Thus a technical skinny dip is achieved. I have spent a good time naked out in ocean waves, suit in hand unbeknownst, or at least...technically nude. ;)

Guru! Oh no, I meant whilst in the water, not whilst walking upon it! Certainly never try that while walking up on the water.

Once upon a time I did the take suit off after getting into the water thing, back when I was afraid to be seen naked by strangers.  Now I just go for it on land and if someone doesn't like what they see that is not my problem.

I was able to achieve a brief skinny dip at the Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu using this exact method. Get out deep enough into the water, pull the suit off, and carry it in my hand while enjoying the water naturally. I will also do that when enjoying the Gulf waters at the Padre Island National Seashore in Texas.

I found that the ocean can present problems. The turbulence near the shore makes standing and re-robing acrobatic. The same turbulence, especially coupled with churning sands, especially as the suit is in the lowest positioned stage as one shifts and bounces, tends to bring extra gritty cargo to the garments. There is on the other hand a tendency to accumulate sand in these senseless unnatural bad jokes, no matter what you do.

There is an inner fight to not just feel like letting the dang encumbrance float away forever. The notion that one might just walk out of the surf and claim that the bulky clammy contrivance just got lost and swept away.

None is better, none at all better still. One, at times, must make do....

One more week to make naturist opportunities in August 2024, once in a blue moon. The dangerous rains have been lurking, or hitting nearly every day this month. The cooler mountains get even more of the thunderous lightning infested wash. Five AM hiking is the only solution when nightly cloud covers darken full moon light in the balmy evenings, here in Tucson.

RRFALCON "I will also do that when enjoying the Gulf waters at the Padre Island National Seashore in Texas"
You wear a swimsuit on the beach in the Padre Island National Seashore? I never do. There are miles of open beach with little to no people.
I often park at the "sticks" at the North end of the park and hike in from there wearing a sarong to get past any textiles near the barrier, then continue bare for a mile or so.
When camping, I'll drive at least 10 miles into the park. I have spoken to the turtle patrols and rangers. As long as you aren't making a spectacle of your nudity, you will be fine.
