A round of golf is a 6 mile hike through a beautiful green landscape.  It even has a little competition to give you some focus while out walking.  Many people appreciate doing that.  Much better if we could all play naked.

why spoil a good walk by lugging a bag of sticks to bat a ball around?

You mean they make you carry them yourself? And walk, too?

When my folks had their summer place on the golf course in Pinetop, we'd drive carts for those sticks and balls. We'd walk in the evenings.

Sunset was fun, but clothed. The nights were cold, however. It was too uncomfortable to be nude in the shadows. I had a goal to do a full moon SN walk, but it never got accomplished. Couldn't get the too cold wife go for it, either, or get her drunk enough. ;D We flirted with it, but never full blown did it.

"SN walk?" I know it's possible to walk on a forest trail (sometimes) with a full moon, though.

Interesting you mention goals. I've had a couple of hiking goals, nude related, of course. So far, though, I haven't managed to accomplish them.

I assume that's "Secret Naturist". It was a discussion group that some people here remember affectionately, but as it was adults only I never joined.

Yes, Blue Train,
'SN' refers to the term we used on our previous forum home The Secret Naturists Society which was the term we used for FRN Free Range Naturism in past times.  We discussed for pages and pages over several years why 'Secret' with factions defining the 'S' as Solitary (but this wasn't necessarily true as people did naked hikes in groups) and others supported the meaning of 'S' Secret as the need to keep out of the way of textiles when one is naked in nature.  That debate has gone since the adoption of the much better term Free Range Naturism.

You will read myself and some of the other erstwhile members of that forum refer to SN in this forum when they mean a solitary walk in nature without clothing and TSNS when they refer to the old site.  The site was run philanthropically by someone called 'Lookee' who by all accounts was a bit of an oddball but nevertheless hosted and provided the forum site.  However, one day he didn't pay the subscription either by accident or design and we went off the air forever.
He never communicated directly with the forum community although one or two people had a link to him, which is how we found out that the site was kaput.
Those of us that were attached to the group that corresponded there began to look for each other like cyber needles in the internet haystack and somehow or other we drifted into this forum and 'accreted' here like a wandering swarm of bees finding a suitable tree to nest in!  I think quite a few of us had visited the impressive Stuart & Karla in their previous guise as 'The Naked Munros' and had congratulated them on forming this site.  Once again we benefited from generous hosts and are here to tell the tale!

Well, that's more response than you expected!!  I like to reminisce abut TSNS because I was a member in my formative years as a naturist and benefited from the advice and friendship of a number of the members there, some now here and some seemingly long gone, who helped me realise the potential of and become comfortable with naturism .

I too have a lot to thank TSNS for in helping and inspiring me to enjoy naturism in the fresh air.

Norman.

Ever since before I finished high school, I have needed opportunity more than help or inspiration. Ironically, I think I may have had more opportunity when I was still in high school than I have since then. It was one of the benefits of living out in the sticks in West Virginia. And I took advantage of it, too. There was a period when I was in college and finally had a vehicle (that was four years after finishing high school) that I had even more opportunities but I didn't take as much advantage of them as I might have. Since then, since moving to the big suburbs, the opportunities have only been there when I made them. But as life would have it, there have always been competing interests in my life and all we can do is to make the best of the time we have. If I had it to do over, I can't say I'd do anything differently, knowing that I'd hate to have missed out on all the things I did instead of tramping around in the woods.

Secret naturism, or stealth naturism, take your pick. We had to sneak around the golf course, which was lined with cabin homes observing the fairways. A golf course is like a small town, people talk, people object to protect their interests, socially and financially. Lots of retired people who bought into a golf course and want it to be used only for golf.

Full moonlight is very revealing on a fairway. People sit out on porches in the evening. One must hide in the shadows, or wait until the wee hours, or run risks and increase odds of discovery and potentials of hassles.

In Michigan in the dead of night, as teenagers out way past legal curfew, we would wander Battle Creek Country Club, which had few houses observing it. We would wander all through the suburbs, sometimes drinking, sometimes I would be naked, sometimes with a girlfriend and lay on the green's lovely grass. It was an exercise in stealth, like commandos, always ready for a bush to hide behind, in case someone showed up in surprise.

TSNS started out about such activities and also doing such in urban environments for kicks. It evolved into more a FRN conversation as we learned and shared our experiences and new members came on board.

Secret Naturism was also about being nude without spousal interference. Just hiding it from others for social/economic  reasons. That was generally a solitary thing.

Many of us were just people feeling a need to be nude, or a form of sexual antic, or a dare game. Then, when we discovered that there were others like us at TSNS, we began dialog. We discovered that we were normal people in weird circumstance, not the other way around and that we were not alone. Some began to use the tools of SN to such a frequency that the edge was worn down and our activity could be perceived as a more comfortable behavior. Naturism, it's social aspects, its spiritual aspects, began to enter into the picture.

I became so adept that I found myself naked all over most of the time, a Free Range Naturist.

All of this pops up from time to time, here. Be it taking out the trash, getting mail nude for a kick, or a liberation, or wrapping unwrapping on a trail in nature. After a while it can become safe and normal to be nude without hard rushes of fear. Our fears drop away with experimentation. Now, we have organized hikes, hikes in less populated areas, local secret places to be nude, and free range websites. We allow ourselves to be seen on the trails. We're going mainstream and are already mainstream naturism. Resorts are nice, but hardly necessary. AANR ain't got the message. TNS has gotten the message and are publishing as such. The web has also grown.

Lookee started a site back around the turn of the century, when I still had WebTV. There was a competition/conflict with another person's site, or a ruse by "Corbie." Lookee came up with TSNS. It then all evolved over the next twenty years, or so. I think that it frequently got out of Lookee's hands and original vision by the membership's use.

Is the Secret Naturist Handbook still around here? I have a complete copy written by Lookee. It reveals the original intents of TSNS.

We've come a long way over nearly twenty years. I have found a personal growth and spiritual growth with my involvement. It is legal in Britain and Spain to go walkabout naked. Things in the USA's naturist movement are changing. There are enough of us doing things that we are making a difference. This forum is still a very important step in the social evolution.

Many things are converging, making for a trajectory toward body freedom. I plan to keep plugging away until there is freedom. That is when the norm is the recognition that a naked human body is not harmful. A child will not be damaged by the sight of a unclothed member of it's own species and naturism is simply wholesome and fun. I also personally, I want to see that my nude spiritual pursuits are recognized as a religious freedom. All, a long way from sneaking the trash out when naked, just for the rush.

"people talk, people object to protect their interests, socially and financially."

Friend, it's like that everywhere. It's human nature. It is true, however, that minding one's own business was a motto adhered to more in some places than others. In some places, of course, what your neighbor does is your business, too, because what they do affects you to some degree. What you can do about it is another matter and some people have more freedom (that is, power) to do something than others.
