The weather forecast is pretty poor.  50% precipitation all afternoon.
Quote from: BBC Weather
Friday heralds a return to more unsettled weather for all with a mix of showers and sunny spells. Into the weekend we will see these showers gradually push away to the east with improving conditions spreading in from the west.

The XCweather forecast is rather more optimistic. It shows cloud with sunny intervals all afternoon with a predicted rainfall of 0.1mm in a three hour window between 16:00 and 19:00 (ie when the gardens shut!) Nothing there to stop me going.

Even if it snowed, hailed and we had downpours of meatballs, it would be worth going, we could stay in the Belvedere and chat, heck, that's all we'd do anyway...

I think the wife will be seriously considering having me committed if I set off in pouring rain but ...well, maybe last chance to visit CO.

She may be wondering that about you anyway John :)

I know Carole thinks I should have earned enough points from the local loony bin to have a lifetime permit by now, and the naturism may be the least of her concerns. I have always aspired to being eccentric, sadly I'm not rich enough, so I will have to settle for being weird.

Have fun (and hope to see you on Sunday),

If your definitely going, Ian, so am I! What's your ETA?
BBC forecast is for rain later (16.00) but drier earlier.  MSN forecast has worsened to 70% rain in the afternoon! XCweather most optimistic.  I'll adopt PMA for a change and hope for warm & cloudy but bright for a decent time.

GUILT! Bring her back flowers, thank her, adding that it was wonderful, nothing more. Take a shower, and cozy up, if you have been forgiven. Remember, you have already won.

OR, bring her back a spa!

I donno what to do...I'm just a guy... :D

I thought I'd replied to this earlier but it seems that is just a figment of my imagination.

If your definitely going, Ian, so am I! What's your ETA?

I expect to arrive around 11:30 and will stay close to the Belvedere / tea bar between 11:30 and 12:30 so if anyone is looking for me (or wants to avoid me) you now have some information that may help :D

Larry will be proud of you John. I generally find the forecasts on XC rather more accurate than anything the BBC publish. I'll PM you my mobile number so you can ping me if we miss each other.

Have fun,

Ian.

PS If anyone else is going and wants my mobile number let me know. I have no problem sharing it with friends but don't really want to put it on an open forum.

OK - That's nearly coincident! I'm looking to be there 12-12.30.
PM'd you my phone no. if we need to find eachother.  I can't remeber what keith looks like although I met him there on one visit a few years ago.
Hope the tea's plentiful.  We may need it to keep warm.
However BBC and Met office have softened their outlook and we are within the 5 day range now so confidence increasing of low precipitation percentage chance and not so warm, but, hey, we can exercise to keep warm!!

I'm still intending to be there, and still intending to bring a friend for his first visit. All being well, I shall arrive for the 11 00 opening time, so will keep a look out for other arrivals

I don't trust any forecasts, although I look at many. For instance, today one site was forecasting that the temperature in my area would be 26C and another 25C . The actual high was 19C! The BBC got that one near enough right (20C).

I find it most frustrating trying to find out how much sun there will be, which is my main concern. It is often wildly wrong just like those temperatures. The times I've looked forward to a sunny day only for it not to materialise.

I won't be going, not least because it won't be warm enough for me (if the forecasts are right!).

I hope the weather is kind and those that do go enjoy themselves.

That's a shame Dave, I was hoping to meet you again.

Thanks for that thought; if you could avoid any inadvertent rain dances for the next few days, I'm sure we would all appreciate it.

Have fun,

Ian.

When and if it drizzles, do you use umbrellas, or bare with it?

We're going to the mountain forest and streams next week and the monsoon has been staying active and off schedule again this year. We'll use umbrellas, ponchos, maybe an extra rain jacket or coat, extra tents and tarps, keep flexible and maybe take some dry wood, expecting some kind of rain at times. We're just not familiar enough with rain, but this will be several days.

Weather has once again eased a bit vis a vis rain but I'm suspecting that we'll be shivering a bit even if we stay dry!
But this is the essence of britishness - you can't have everything all at one time and you put up with it!!

Also disappointed we won't see you, Dave!

Hope we coincide, Keith.

jbee, I can think of few things sillier than being naked in the rain under an umbrella!  We shall have the benefit of trees to shelter under and gazebos!

Can anyone remember how much dosh you need to put in the machines to park?

John -

Parking in the long stay car park at the bottom of the steps is free on Sundays, but make sure you stay in the marked spaces. An over-zealous attendant objected on one occasion when a few people tried to extend the available space!

Well, I got to AHG at around 11:30 as planned (having stopped on the way down for a 45 minute naked walk to collect a geocache for my Jasmer grid (other cachers will understand..))

Almost as soon as I had got rid of the unneeded clothing I was tapped on the shoulder by Keith who introduced the AHG first timer he had brought down. While we were chatting, John arrived and joined us. I guess we chatted for around 20 minutes before Keith and Hugh wandered off to explore while John and I sat down for coffee and lunch before we wandered the gardens.

We all met up again later in the day and had tea and cake (well, some of us could not resist cake) and good conversation. Eventually, time forced us to head for home. The weather may not have been spectacular, but it was very pleasant, warm, dry and cool enough to wander the gardens without overheating.

At present the house and gardens are off the market, however, they are struggling to make ends meet at present, so I guess it is only a matter of time before the place is sold. Barbara did advise that Ian* is now showing signs of improvement following his stroke earlier this year, he is regaining the power of speech, but still does not have movement down one side.

Once again, Barbara noted that the gardens were far busier on a clothes optional day than she would have expected on a "normal" Sunday. I did take a few pictures, if I get a chance and any of them are any good, I'll add them to this thread in the next day or so.

Have fun,

Ian.

Thanks for AHG Report, Ian ... makes me nostalgic ...

Maybe they should act on Barbara's observation and have Naked Day every Sunday?!

You had a good day, naked!
