Lost Clothing: From The Secret Naturist Handbook

What would you do if, for example, you returned back to the car to find it had been stolen along with your clothing, and the clothing you had hidden for this eventuality was also missing? You are naked, might be miles from home, its getting dark and starting to rain. You are in a potentially serious situation, what would you do?

I'm more worried about getting 20 miles from home without bringing any clothes, and the fuel pump quits, or the battery is dead, etc.  We had a topic about how far can you go from your nearest clothing.  Its a risk when its miles from home, small risk though.

The trouble with small risks is that they become big risks if you take the small risk many times.  Sooner or later the small risk will happen.

Gosh, only about 1/2 way through.  Lookee certainly was comprehensive in thinking through the whole field.
Well press on Jbee!  It would be interesting to read more (I usually skim read them!  ;) )

The last article is interesting.  One thing that I tend to conclude, with the benefit of hindsight, about Lookee's thought process about what we now call Free range Naturism, is that he was very concerned with the secret and clandestine aspects of free ranging, the assumption being that one should never be seen.  For instance he remarks about the option of walking home naked "could even be enjoyable but would require some luck to get safely across town without being seen "  The emphasis being on not being seen.  I suspect you or Bob (or even myself in such a situation of crisis) might take the view that in the circumstances we would have a valid explanation for our behaviour and state of undress and simply carry on with the task of getting home naked and brave out any possible encounters or indeed seek help from the police if they were available.

as stated above if you take a small risk often enough it will happen at some point.

when driving ive always got alternate clothing in the vehicle....even if only overalls wrapped round the toolbox to stop rattles.

if ive driven somewhere and gone for a walk ive usually got a tan through beach wrap in the camera bag,  and never leave the car keys behind...ive even got hats with zipped pockets that take the vehicle keys.  on the odd occasions ive stopped for an unplanned walk and left all clothes in car the keys have gone with me. theres always binoculars in a case in the car,  ive carried the keys in the bino case whilst leaving all clothing behind.

my bike has a basket on the handlebars...keys, phone and wrap or shorts go in there and are no bother.

having said all that if the brown stuff hit the fan ive have no problem asking for help,   the bits of the uk im in your never far from a house or road. and i dont do bad weather

There have been times when I have stood behind my car on a busy street or parking lot and changed my jeans for shorts. Can't go naked in cities, but you can briefly change outfits. Not secret at all, but nobody has ever complained to me.

and never leave the car keys behind..

I'm willing to hide my keys because I don't like having things to carry in my hand when nude in the wild.  If the top of your tire isn't visible, hidden by the metal, then keys on top of the tire is a good place.  On the ground behind the tire is also good.  Off the path under a rock works too.  Thieves will break your glass before they spend time hunting for your keys. Back in the day, hiding keys on a tire was fairly common in some parts, but i think its rare and mostly unknown now so nobody will look there.  My bicycle has a carry bag for clothes, keys, money, cell phone, etc.

Two of my cars have a touch pad for the door lock so you could leave the keys in the car and touch the combination.  That saved me one time when I accidentally shut the car door with the engine running.  I feel more safe having the key pad access.

Many of the new cars now have a push button to start so they don't really need a key.  The "fob" microchip thing is what that is needed.

Me neither.  It has to be above 50F in calm sunshine or warmer with a breeze or partly cloudy. 70F and sunny is best time.  I don't enjoy our long cold winters.

When my brother in law first moved to the US (SF area) he had his car broken into so many times he took to leaving the kerbside window open so the thieves wouldn't break the glass and cost him a repair for them to not steal the nothing that was in the car. They just broke the window on the other side of the car ...

LOL.  Thieves didn't even bother looking for an open window on the kerbside.  They won't bother looking for your keys either.  Just broke the driver side window as usual.  There are often cars left alone at trailhead parking where some thieves can loot without being seen.

Operations Point: From The Secret Naturist Handbook:

An operations point or OP, is an essential part of every secret naturist outing. The OP is a pre-defined location, usually at the start of your route, where you are able to undress at the beginning of your outing and re-dress again on your return. Having a known, safe and possibly secluded area to carry out these two activities, you then are able to take your time when changing from secret naturist mode to normal, everyday mode. An OP can also be described as a safe haven, where you can retreat to when the need arises, perhaps, when you need to stay hidden for a period of time. An OP is also a good place to hide your clothing and can act as a base camp for multiple outings.

To fulfil these needs an OP needs to have as many of the following characteristics as possible:

•   A low risk of disturbance.
•   Offer good cover and concealment.
•   Be easy to recognise under all conditions.
•   Provide shelter from the wind, rain, sun, etc.
•   Have two or more means of exit or entry.
•   Can be entered and exited easily and quickly.
•   Will not be found by chance.
•   Permits an unobserved entry and exit.
•   Allows you to be aware of the surrounding area.

Having a number of pre-selected and prepared OP's may seem un-necessary, but there are some good reasons for doing so:

•   You have a secure place to dress or undress.
•   A place to hide clothing, food, water, etc.
•   A place to lie-up or hide if required.
•   A place to spend the day naked if you wish.
•   A good spot to leave emergency clothing.

I have a number of OP's, in a variety of locations but the most useful is in a thick patch of young conifers. This OP can reached from a variety of directions all offering good cover. It also offers good protection from the wind and can be reached without leaving a visible trail. I've used it for a number of long range secret naturist outings, leaving part of my clothing as well as my food and water, etc.

The above OP was prepared in advance but temporary OP's can also be used, for example, when bagging a hill top from a forest lower down the slopes. Even at night, an OP gives you a point of focus from which to start an outing. An example of one I use nearby, is simple a large rock surrounded by thick heather, just a few meters from the road. It provides an easily found place to hide clothing and is out-of-sight from the cars on the road, permitting me to strip and dress without problems.

All good advise.

Camp is a safe place. Hanging from a tree, so it can't be drug off by animals. Camouflage bag or a cover is good to have, rather than bright florescent colors. I strap bags to trees, etc. to keep them from being taken.

On a group hike on a familiar trail up near Prescott... There is a rock face that has several rock shelves that work to store clothing and high enough to discourage most animals. Everybody strips there. it's right around the corner from the highway trailhead of a little known trail. It is like a locker room when groups hike nude.

Quick Nudity: From the Secret Naturist Handbook

There are often occasions when you find a location where you have a burning desire to "bag" it while naked. This location can be anywhere and of any type but due to the intermittent coming and going of non-naturists, traffic or whatever, the window of opportunity may be short and only a few minutes may be available to undress, visit the feature of interest, place a calling card, return and get dressed again.

A typical example of this type of location is the trig point on Calton Hill in the very centre of Edinburgh, Scotland's capital. Another example would be a historic monument such as a castle where you are the first visitor to arrive and might just have a few minutes to "bag" the location before further visitors arrive. In locations and situations such as this carefully planning is required to be successful and it can be helpful to break the entire operation down into sections.

Initial Observation

Begin by carefully working out how much time you are likely to have for the whole operation. Then add up the amount of time required to complete each of the stages, allowing extra for safety. This will tell you if there is enough time between visiting people to complete the operation. If there is, carry out a dry run, clothed normally and check everything works okay. Just allow time to past for getting undressed, etc at this stage. You will also need to select a base to work from where you will get undressed, leave clothing, etc.

Getting Undressed

This should not be a problem if you have followed the guidelines mentioned on the quick change page, which can be found in the Skills section. If not, it would be a good idea to practice getting undressed and dressed elsewhere before attempting this in a live situation.

The Location

You should check out the route from your base to the point of interest. Check the terrain, paying attention to the ground conditions, looking out for hazards such as nettles, rocks, etc. If you are walking barefoot, the surface of the ground can affect how fast you can walk. Decide where you will go at the location, if you will walk round or only go to one specific spot perhaps to place a calling card.

Get Dressed

Again, follow the recommendations on the fast change page and be aware that this is the point where panic can set in. You see a party approaching and get into a right mess trying to get dressed. Stay calm and dress quickly but with control.
This technique can be applied to a whole variety of potentially high risk locations, even in the centre of busy cities there are places that can be tackled in this manner. But do remember that here is always an element of risk involved. Someone may appear unexpectedly just as you strip off.

Ah yes, liberation of a zone!

I gotta go to the hardware store, so I can install some on a new gate, etc. while getting so all over sun in the heat and best sun of the day. So, I 'll have to write more later.

I'll certainly write on this. It is fun to collect unusual to be nude places, to be spontaneous and feel the rush of a risk. I sometimes feel put off to the hassle and prefer to be left more alone, but when I'm driving around nude and don't want to get dressed, things like these are what makes my free range territory expand.

Anecdotes anyone? Pics?

Pretty normal when nudifying someplace new. Is it safe? Will anyone surprise me and be offended? Been there, done that.
I think my early days of driving nude fall in there. Part of the incentive was doing something outside mainstream, in public. Would I get caught, then what?
But now, its just normal. Nothing to see here.
I am often clothesfree at my neighbor's. He knows my naked affinity. to get to his house I can take the road or walk through my pasture. Either path can expose me to unfriendly textiles. I will carry the wrap and put it on before disturbing them. Often, I can walk the distance without disrupting the moral servitude of the neighborhood.

Just traveling around nude, we keep our wits about us so that we don't have to hassle with getting dressed. We may drive through a campground looking for a more hidden spot. We may find a parking area empty and remote and take advantage of a chance, or walk off out of sight of the road and strip off carrying a cover, or not. Use the car for cover, or darkness. It just comes natural when traveling nude to find and exploit options.

Friends in Prescott area have been taking advantage of parks being closed to go to more well known, or famous spots and doing a quick photo opt. We did some a few weeks back at a lake with them. Strip until some walker stops by. Take photos where we are not supposed to be nude, but I soon found that I enjoyed just walking in the woods nude more satisfying than having sneaky fun.

Our nude urban full moon walk was fun in that I felt the liberation and also the game of stealth. Still, it is best to me to not have to be bothered, with textile concerns.

Reconnaissance: From "The Secret Naturist Handbook"

When planning a secret naturist outing, undoubtedly the most important thing you can do, even if its the only thing you do, is carry out a thorough reconnaissance of the intended location. This important point cannot be stressed enough. Without a good knowledge of an area you really could place yourself in some difficult and potentially dangerous situations. Good reconnaissance, which should always be done fully clothed, is the hallmark of a skilled secret naturist.

There are a number of things to look for during your reconnaissance patrol and these items as pretty such the same no matter what the type of location or what part of the country the location can be found.

The key points to look for are:

1. The general size and layout of the location, where the trails go and what is beyond them. Try and establish an overall image of the entire area you intend to visit and also the positions of trails leading into the area and of local dwellings. Study your map as well.

2. Look for suitable trails to follow, paying attention to any signs indicating the amount and type of usage they get. Look for areas of good cover and concealment, open areas where care will be required and the degree of exposure to the weather.

3. Memorise or discretely mark your planned route, also noting any interesting areas to explore such as ponds, waterfalls, large trees, rocks, etc.

4. Look for, mark and note, any potential hazards such as fences, streams, ditches, problem areas of vegetation and so on.

5. Establish your outings point, the place where you will get undressed, dress again later and possibly hide your clothing or emergency clothing for later retrieval.

6. Decide on and prepare your cover story for the area, paying attention to the suitability for that particular habitat type.

7. Plan and prepare any emergency escape & evasion routes along the full length of the route you intend to follow. Also look for places offering temporary cover and concealment.

8. Consider possible "what if?" scenarios and what you would do for each given situation.

9. Establish the best time for your secret naturist outing. This may require further reconnaissance visits to determine activity patterns.

10. If travelling by vehicle, look for a suitable place to park during your outing. Pay attention to security issues, if the vehicle would raise suspicion and how you would get home if the vehicle was stolen.

The list above is not exhaustive and there is really no limit to the number of things you can do during your reconnaissance patrol. Even apparently small thing such as the presence of good natural warning signs such as crows and rabbits, should be noted. However, do not be put off by what might seen an impossible task, with practice it becomes second nature and you can carry out all the above while simply strolling along the trail. If it help write things down in a notebook for later reference.

All very good for a secret naturist.   But in rural parts of uk ,and the similar  bits of europe I've been to, largely irrelevant for a confident free range naturist.

If I'm out and about and pass by a wooded area ill stop in a layby beside the road or forestry car park or wherever safe, assess the number of other if any parked up vehicles, maybe check out on a paper map or online on the tablet.  Then just wade in at the deep end.  Using a beach wrap cover up can be instant and I'm not bothered about others knowing I was or still am naked.
I guess now in the uk and many parts of europe where nudity is not illegal and even dare I say it accepted as such by the population the biggest restriction on our free range ctivities in suitable locations is our own minds.     Once you develope the confidence the opertunities for a naked stroll open up .
