Free Range Naturism / Re: Nude in Public

Jbeegoode asked, "So, Bob, "Not their job (SCOTUS)" Does that mean there was some supreme court ruling that I haven't heard? Please elaborate."

I think there have been several court cases that involved the police not taking action to defend or help people who were actively being attacked in sight of the officers. The courts have ruled that it is not the job of the police to protect individuals, but rather their duty is the protection of society overall. So, yeah, the police have no duty to come to our direct assistance. Their duty is to clean up the mess afterwards and try to identify the wrongdoers.

So, we're on our own. Although there have been places and times (quite recently, even, as in "in the last few months") where the police have been known to arrest the victim who was defending himself and let the actual criminal go free.

"You wear a swimsuit on the beach in the Padre Island National Seashore? I never do. There are miles of open beach with little to no people.
I often park at the "sticks" at the North end of the park and hike in from there wearing a sarong to get past any textiles near the barrier, then continue bare for a mile or so.
When camping, I'll drive at least 10 miles into the park. I have spoken to the turtle patrols and rangers. As long as you aren't making a spectacle of your nudity, you will be fine.
~Safebare"

I don't have the opportunity to go anywhere other than the Malaquite Beach visitor center and beach, due to being with family and friends who don't want to get very far away from the facilities. So, a quick skinny dip with suit in hand is the best I can usually manage.

I was able to achieve a brief skinny dip at the Ala Moana Beach Park in Honolulu using this exact method. Get out deep enough into the water, pull the suit off, and carry it in my hand while enjoying the water naturally. I will also do that when enjoying the Gulf waters at the Padre Island National Seashore in Texas.

"April in Paris". I remember once reading an interview with the guy who wrote the song that he was actually describing May in Paris, but May didn't scan and April did, so in the song it's April. My last trip to Paris was right at that time - last week of April, first week of May. It was cool, some days cloudy and some sunny. We were there just a week or two before the start of tourist season, so it wasn't very crowded. It was a good trip. No naked times, though, except in the hotel room.

General Naturism Discussion / Re: Safe Search
« on: November 25, 2023, 05:24:49 PM »
I gave it a try using Presearch (https://presearch.com), and FreeRangeNaturist is blocked with SafeSearch turned on (searching for free range naturist), although it is found when SafeSearch is turned off. Intriguingly, though, one of the first results returned while SafeSearch was on  was a link to an article on freerangenaturism.com, so they're being very inconsistent.

And just on a pedantic note, blocking the search results isn't censoring you, JBee. You haven't been prohibited from putting anything you want on your website. It's censoring the minds of all of the people who might otherwise find you and realize that public nudity is a non-event. The censorship is real, it's just not directed at the provider. It's directed at the consumer, which is more insidious.

I don't know if Vimeo pays any of its video posters, but there is a sort-of nude cooking blogger there: https://www.thisdudecooksinthenude.com

jaybirdsen said, "I think the clothing thing might have had more to do with the weather than anything else. I live near the coast so 63 degrees is warm to me. The people who live at De Anza had been living under close to triple digits for a few months until just a couple weeks before my visit at the beginning of November. The heavy jackets just seemed weird though."

There's definitely a comfort range based on what you're used to. When my spouse and I returned to Texas after a decade in New England, we were quite amused to see women wearing fur coats when the temperature was 40 degrees F. After a winter in New Hampshire, that's shorts and t-shirts temperature.

A lot of the early locomotives needed to refuel/rewater every 30 miles or so. That meant that at least a small station was needed at those points, and it was natural for towns to grow up around those places, if there wasn't one there already. That legacy remains, with a lot of small or even abandoned towns roughly every 30 miles or so along the old railroad rights-of-way.

I lived there about 30 years ago. Back then, Naturist New Hampshire was a pretty good bunch of folks - welcoming to newcomers and having monthly activities. I think they're still around, but I've no idea what their attitudes are like now.

Although I generally prefer to eschew obfuscation, sometimes I use really long words to make me seem more photosynthesis.

What I have done to help remember passwords for websites where I don't really care if somebody breaks in is to use a formula that I can remember, but isn't obvious to others.  As an example (not the formula I actually use), pick a phrase that's easy for you to remember and take the first letter of each word - say, "We Hold These Truths To Be Self-Evident" becomes "whtttbse". Pick one letter to capitalize, and convert another to a number - "whtTtb5e". Now attach the first few letters of the website it applies to. For this one, the pw could end up being "freerwhtTtb5e", using the first five letters of the url and the formula phrase. The password for Amazon would be "amazowhtTtb5e".  That gives a unique password for every website that's fairly easy to remember but hard to guess or break. For really important websites, though, (e.g., bank accounts), I'll use a different password and make sure it's saved where I won't forget it. That minimizes the number of passwords that I have to write down or use a password manager to handle.
